fiberglass vs plastic

ok so im pretty new at this but its something iv wanted to do for a long time but im bound and determind im gonna do it from scrtach but what my question is is that i have a bunch of clay molds that iv been working on for months now i havent made negative molds yet but im debateing wether if i want to make a vacuum press but the problem iv read about is people wasting lots of costly plastic and finding plastic and all the different kinds out there but a buddy of mine said to try fiberglass it it would be a lot cheaper but also there is a great deal of sanding involved wouldnt be all that bad just a lot of time i know i would have to make a neg then a pos if i decide to go the plastic route but if i go fiberglass route could i just do fiberglass rite on molds or would i have to make casts of them to oh i didnt mention im making clonetrooper armor from ros
 
Hi, could you post some pics? depending on what it is there are different Techniques that can be used. Also how many are you going to be making?
 
building a vac table is expensive and resource intensive (time, money, power). if you're only looking for a few sets, it's probably not worth the money.
 
Man i wish i had a camera rite now but it broke but really what im doing is im wanting to start making some clonetrooper armor i got the chest back shoulder bicep for arm and hand pieces done so far made out of clay it probly wouldnt show up good on pics any ways cause its colored modeling clay i got at michels arts and crafts these packs where like 50 cents a piece so i got like 50 dollars worth but hey it works but im really only making it for me so im not planning on mass producing anything thats kind of why im leaning towards the fiberglass way but im doing my research so i dont mess these pieces iv spent countless hours on
