An ethical question...

About a year ago I acquired a foam master from the now dissolved Don Post Studios. I really dont have a desire to pull a mold from it, though, it would be kind of neat. I had heard that the mask was a prototype and never produced.
I would love feedback from some of the "senior" or more experienced members of the forum on this. Thanks in advance.

Since they are no longer in business it is usually considered ok to make copies of the item.

Do you have a pic of the master? It would be interesting to see.

Can't see this as any different than all the MR items that are now recast. Plenty of them out there with no issues....

That is the only piece I have. I would have to sculpt the back of the helmet and construct the connection pieces for the bar that wraps over the top of the head. Im not a Dr. Who guy, so this costume is foreign to me. Im not even sure the guy selling it knew what he had. On the bottom of the foam master is written "ULTRAMAN PROTO 2007 DPS". I wasnt sure what is was when I bought it, but being an unused DPS prototype was good enough to get me interested in the piece, so I bought it.

Ultraman and the cybermen from doctor who are not the same thing I believe. Fett4real is a big whovian so he may be the one to ask.

I'll shoot him a pic. Through some basic research, I'm aware that they are not the same or that this is def a cybermen master. Whomever made the mask may not have been though, as it's clearly written (though not pictured here) "ultraman". I'll shoot F4R a message, thanks.

Wow...this is kinda crazy to see here. Yes I am semi obsessed with Dr who as justin knows lol.

Yeh that's for sure a cyber man. RUN!!!

Seriously though. If you were to fix this and make the back of the helmet and all. It would technically be your own and all. And dp like others said is gone. And it's not a recasting it's using the original master. I have the foam files to build a cyber man just haven't had the time to play around with it....would be interested in a helmet maybe. Bet people on therpf would be also.

Excellent. Thanks to all who have added to the thread. I suppose it may be time to break out some silicone... I'm about to order another 5 gallon bucket- maybe this piece makes it to the table. Then I'd have to break out my sculpting tools ( a scary sight to behold ).

wow thats pretty awesome, i may be interested in one as well moving forward I didnt know much about Dr Who until i met my wife, but now i rather enjoy it I just got tardis slippers for Christmas LOL!

I would be very interested in one of these were they to be produced, love Dr Who especially the Cybermen in their various forms.
