Okay, I wanted to seperate discussion of the scope mounts from my bronze webley thread. As I understand the rings to scope are a problem for some people in that they are weak. I find it hard to think that small points of contact can be anything but weak.
I did build up a finihsed EE-3 at one point until it was used for producing another prop in which is was taken apart... I never put it back together. But pictured is the parts I have. I can not see the rings themselves ever being 'cast' in anything. They are supposed to be thin and should be fabricated and possible married to the scope mount (also where the molex connectors are attached). What I propose is to creat a cast metal "junction" between the scope, molex and rings. This junction would include the correct details inside. This junction could be welded onto fabricated rings so that they would be very strong. The scope, scope rails and molex connectors are found parts and therefor could be attached by the builder. Does any of this make sense?... discuss...
