Dieing suede

My girlfriend and I are making her an ANH Leia outfit and found some boots tonight that are perfect except they are the wrong color (a light purple ) The seem to be suede or feux suede (I'm guessing the fake stuff since we got them for 20$ at Payless) Any suggestions/tips on how to turn them white?

Have you considered going to a Tandy leather place in your area? Usually the people there are helpful and if you bring the boots there, they might be able to provide some light to your color die dilema.

Previously colored suede doesn't take dye very well ...
