Clear Coat Question?

Has anyone ever clear coated their Boba armor? The last time I painted my Fett torso I notice some cracks and brittles. I know that this is good in a way, but I just dont want an accident where the whole yellow and green paint gets removed by accident.

Just wondering if there's a true Flat Clear coat that wont damage, or mess up the hue of the paint.

I'm thinking of trying to spray Matte Krylon Clear on my old painted chest pieces and see what type for results I get.

anyone tried anything yet?

i've never clearcoated any of my parts. then again, i'm about to repaint my chest armor again due to excessive scratches... so perhaps i'm not a good gauge!

I'll do a test on my old stuff and post the results.

I have to repaint all my chest armor do to wearing it in a light rain without clear coat... I strongly recommend doing it!

A lot of the weathering on my original armor was done with different shades of pastel chalk. That absolutely had to be clearcoated or that would have come off at the slightest touch.

Evan4218 showed me this cool new stull by model masters it is called clear sealer for metallized surfaces so it will not dull out your silver but you need an airbrush....

It won't damage or change the color. HOWEVER, make sure of which clear coat you use because you could make it too glossy. Be sure of the finish you are looking for. Spray evenly.

.02 from an professional painter(what I do)
Matting clear is the way to go as mentioned above.Arcylic urtheane clear coat(like what is used in the automotive field) would proably change the color hue of the "flat" color you are trying to get to be "screen acurate".Not to mention arcylic urtheane clear MIGHT have a chemical reaction(wrinkling) with the spray paint most use in costuming(Krylon).
Please besure to read the labels of the products you use to make sure the products are compatible.
From reading thew posting here on this thread I see humor in that some here are going to repaint their "weathered" armor because of scratchs the armor got while wearing it.I know that "screen acurate" thing again.
Thank you and I hope my .02 cents helped some
