Another Iron Man but a bit different.

I know, I know... there are a buttload of other IM threads and builds on here but this one is a little different. I'm not going for screen accuracy or bieng nitpicky on the details. I was asked in another thread what I'm working on now. So here goes, My cousin's son was recently asked to be the mascot for our local High School. However, one of the things that goes with it is they have to come up with some kind of costume. My cousin was telling my big sis about it. Knowing the kind of stuff I do she passed the info along to me and thought I might be able to help them figure out how to do it on a budget. I thought I'd do some of the larger "identifiable" parts and give to my cousin as a donation to the school.

Any way here it is so far.

I knew I forgot to post something. I meant to say there were other files out there that could save you a heap of extra work later on mate?

It's looking great!(y)

Here's a more accurate pepakura file if you're interested: http://www.4shared.com/file/116454471/8fb8d54b/ironpdo.html :cheers

Thanks. I'll save this for my personal files this one looks a great deal smoother.

Now ya tell me! Yeah, the one corby posted would have been nice. but since I've already got to this point I'll prolly finish this one.

Are there any good ones for the torso and shoulders. I have some by the same guys that did the helmet PDO. They look good but they are all "exploded" in seperate portions and there isnt any reference that I've found to assemble all of them.

Haven't had time to update on this so I will now. It is finished and was a hit. The school principal loved it. As I said I wasn't really going to put a lot of detail into it, so the eyes got widened by about a quarter of an inch and a lot of the "extras" got smoothed out. Anyway here are some pics.

After some rough bondo.

And just for giggles... I was thinking while working on this "wouldn't it be cool if this was still around when my 2 yr old is in school." Well when he came to me and asked "I help?" I had to let him. So now he'll be able to say I helped make that when I was 2. Of course, I'm sure my wife was thinking "Oh Lord, He started already."

Outstanding T-Bone!!!!!!

I see where you made changes and left out detail but I still think it's a great lid!! That photo in the paper look awesome!!!!

The helmet almost looks a merging of the original comic Iron Man and the modern day. Suoerb!!!

Thanks!

I kind of thought that too, but it's been forever since I've seen the original so I just kind of blew it off. Thanks again!

I was going to do the armor for the arms next and even have one of the biceps built but I put that on hold and started on another mascot lid... I felt bad because I haven't done anything for the school I graduated from so I decided to make a replacement for the paper mache one they used when I was in school and still use now. They are called the Oaks, like the tree, so the mascot is like Brutus the Buckeye from Ohio State Univ. 'cept an acorn for the head. Who knows, maybe other schools in the area will want me to do their mascot too. Hmmmmm...... $$Cha-ching$$

It's just a pepakura model coated with fiberglass and smoothed up. I learned about the technique here actually. The fiberglass and bondo work I learned from restoring classic autos with my dad and working in an auto body shop for a while.
