Airbrush advice

So I have a new little single action airbrush and compressor. I love the way the paint goes on, my only problem is learning to get it uniform, not quite as easy as it is with rattle cans.

My questions,
1. Is there a trick to achieving uniformity?
2. Why does it seem airbrush paint likes to pit resin more than rattle cans? It's having a hayday with my RC bucket.
3. Is there a trick to avoiding the pitting? A preferred type of paint or thinner?
4. I am currently using enamels and enamel thinner, did I choose wrong?
5. Once past the learning curve do you honestly think airbrush looks better or worse than rattles?

I use acrylic in my air brush. and oly use it for detail work like weathering. I use rattle can for large area work.

Not sure what you mean by "pitting." Is the paint looking rough when it hits the surface? If so, it's probably drying as it's being sprayed, and may need more thinner in the mixture.
Are you spraying onto bare resin, or have you used primer?

I've sprayed acrylics and enamels with good results. The key is practice. Test spray your mixture on a piece of scrap plastic, or even cardboard before you spray your work piece. If the paint runs, or "fisheyes" as you're spraying, you're probably spraying it on too heavy and you need to either do lighter passes, or move the airbrush further away from the surface. A rough looking result as I said above means your paint is probably drying before it hits the surface of your piece. More thinner, or spray a little closer to the surface.

I've had great results with spray cans and airbrushes. The great thing about airbrushes in my opinion is that you can mix any custom color you like and get a much smoother finish than with hand brushing.
