ABS supplier?

I posted this except question on RPF, will also post here...



for all you vacuum/thermoforming guys out there, has anyone located a supplier for ABS that is well priced and carries 2 side gloss (non textured) ABS in 4x8' sheets gauges 0.06-0.09? That is 1.5mm-2.5mm for rough conversions.

I ask because my local supplier only has textured and I know I will get a better finish for ABS projects if i find non textured somewhere.

i have no issues with the HIPS i get locally. It's just if the texture comes through on the ABS it takes away from the gloss side.


Any help would be appreciated.




The only supplier I found online that had it, had a very decent price $60 for a 4x8' sheet of white in 0.063, BUT there was a handling charge of $144 per sheet :confused

Some online suppliers will cut the sheets down for a few bucks extra. The cut sheets should ship for a lot less. I just started buying at a local place, but I don't think they ship stuff.

this is where i get mime, but i don't see 2 sided finished sheets. they charge 15 bucks to cut it down to 24x24 inches which really saves on shipping.

Cutting down the plastic doesn't matter much if they only have textured :/

I wish the site that had the double sided gloss actually gave that option in ordering...

Some people are telling me the texture disappears when they form...but this hasn't been the case for me, the inside of all my pulls still have the texture and it definitely seems hot enough...

I heated one sheet for 10 minutes after the oven had been on for 30 minutes and it still had the texture....

any ideas? Of all the ABS stormy armor i've ever seen...none of it has a the texture side...where are theses guys getting their plastic?

if your lucky like me theres a tap plastics retail store 20 minutes from your house sells everything smooth on does but a little cheaper and no shipping or waiting. you should find out if theres one near you
