Discussion on Stormrider / ICONIC HIC Casts (LIMITED) within the The Cargo Hold forum, part of the Classifieds category; I am going to do small runs of the HICS.
Need to get 3 to start this.
You know I'm definitely in! Come on folks, get on board & grab one as well!
I have two, ordered rubber. It wont be here til next week. I may adjust the limite to just 3. They will get out to you as soon as possible though.
Please excuse my ignorance, but is the a full size cast of the front? In other words, I would only need to build the rest of the box around it? What are it's dimensions? Thanks so much. I am very interested!!
The cast is to the edge of the carbonite detail. None of the edge frame. The easiest place to blend it is where the frame meets the carbonite.
Count me in. When do you want payment?
Payment Sent - Can't wait to get this!
The rubber has still not shipped from Alumilite in Michigan, as soon as it does I will pull these in just a couple days. So be patient, if you have questions feel free to ask. Once I start pulling I will put up pics etc.
Just Made Payment through Sellbuddy. Smooth transaction
what´s the measurement of that piece ?
It is a direct pull from a low number Illusive concepts. Fits perfectly with all measurements for the hic boxes from all reference.
All slots filled. My materials supplier is STILL waiting for one raw material so they can mix this for me and send it. Once its mixed, it takes two days to get to me. I will keep everyone updated.
Please let me know if a slot opens up. Thanks,
I cant take any more until I have pulled a couple in the mold to make sure its still in good shape. Worst case scenario I have to make a new mold. I will be offering at least 5-10 more just not until I have the assurance the mold will maintain.
I try not to hold peoples money for more than 30 days. For piece of mind. While I have always fulfilled orders, I really don't like the stress of hard feelings.
I hope that makes sense to everyone. There are a lot of people that have taken money and disappeared or taken a year to get the items out. I would hate that, so I wont do that.
Still waiting for word on the rubber so I can start pulling these.
I will call again tomorrow to find out the ETA. Thanks for your patience.
I just like to keep everyone informed. Worst thing that can happen is bad communication.
Hopefully this mold holds together cause now I have the Han In Carbonite bug, I want one to.....
If it doesn hold together I have to have the new mold made and pulling by the 18th. That is when I have surgery. Everything must be done by the 18th.
Rubber is supposed to be here mon/tues. I will call to check and post the update tomorrow am.
I hope your surgery isn't too serious mike! Thank you for the updates and I'm looking forward to seeing these casts!
Material is in the supply shop, they said it ships this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
Good news is tracking says it's on the truck. Bad news it's still in Michigan. But I'll be pulling all weekend.
Pulling all weekend....hehe..
haha, poor phrasing? or was it?
I also went ahead and ordered more silicone, AND more rubber. I am going to open the run for another 4-5. I have what looks like 13 pulls on the current mold. They usually don't get dry until around 20-25. I don't expect it to go bad, but if it does, I will start the new mold that day, and finish it within two days.
I'm in. Just let me know how to pay.
I will add 3 to the listing above tomorrow morning. Just click the image to get your invoice and youll be added to the list.
New mold silicone is on way, so regardless I am doing at least 10-15 of these. Opening up to 3 more since I ordered enough rubber in first round for them all.
Will post pics this weekend as I pull, and should be shipping by early next week. Thanks again for everyones patience.
Payment sent. Can I call you Santa? Merry Christmas to me.
That was the fastest draw in the west my friend. Rubber is half way here. Ill be pulling tomorrow. And if the mold isn't up to snuff, ill make a new mold Saturday and be pulling by sunday. I can get about 2 a day done. Should get them all out next week.
I've been hitting refresh all day. *Blows index finger*
Good news for you all, bad news for me. The thumb part of the mold had a tear in it. So I am going to redo the mold tonight. It will need to cure all night, Ill do the shell in the morning. And pull a HIC tomorrow. I could have made pulls, and removed the little bit of extra rubber that was there, but I prefer to have do it right. So for everyone being patient, your going to get the fresh, perfect pulls.
Ohh, yah, the rubber, and silicone is in, I expect to have 4-5 to ship by Monday-Tuesday.
Most of the coats of the 45 lbs of silicone is on. I need to do some thickened and then the mother shell in the morning. I wasn't planning on doing this right off the bat. But such is life. Ill post some pics tomorrow.
Question.....how does the material that the HIC is made from, hold up to winter temps when it is in transit during shipping? Has anyone ever reported a tear? The reason I ask, is a year ago I bought an Imperial Guard helmet from someone here, and the top part of the lid had a chunk break out, mind you it was a Don Post made of vinyl or some other material.
Are the HIC's rolled up during shipping? I'm thinking that because these are rubber they will hold up much better.
It is folded. twice to ship, and that I know if, there has never been any cracking or dry rotting, even during cold temperatures.
The rubber I use, is use for making giant rubber pads for placing machinery on. It is pretty expensive per pound. If you want I can throw one of my second hand pulls for one of the blasters in the freezer overnite and then twist and pull on it and tell you how it performs. I used to live in Michigan, and store them in the garage for a week or two before someone bought them, at around 20 degrees, and never had one tear though.

Han Is now sitting under shell. Im going to pack some, clean some, and then try to tear him out.
Can't wait to get mine! Woo hoo!!
Ill rip off the hard shell in the AM, flip him over, and make a pull tomorrow.
Cant wait to get these off my plate. That mold took 22 hrs.
What, it's not you are busy lol. The pic you sent looks cool. I wish I had the space for a HIC.
Hes all lathered up and ready to go. Ill make a pull, then send a pic of the entire process. Which was NO fun.
Lucky I did this. I picked up the old mold and moved it to the back deck. I grabbed a hand full of torso area, and it tore. Spending 700 was worth it.
First one is curing. Should be out of the mold around 730-8
Alright. Mold look great. Made a pull. I didnt mix the rubber great in one spot. It has what looks like a scratch down one side by the leg. It will fix up fine when being painted. I occasionally get these.
If someone on the list wants it, ill refund you $30. If not I will put it up as a second when the run is done. (Or I will fill the cavity with foam for you for free).
If your on the list pm me. if your not and you want a second at a $30 discount, message me.

I intend to do 2-3 a day. Ordering boxes tomorrow. They need to lay flat a day or two before I ship them. so they should start shipping wednesday and all be out by the weekend.
Yeah. How much for a set of 8 do you think?
For people that bought a HIC from me, 200 ish plus shipping. To others, still under 250.
ME please! I didn't buy a HIC from you, but I've bought a few other items lately
I agree, I should have stated that if you bought things from me, not just HICS.
I am pulling 8 by hand today, so I can measure the amount of material it takes, and look at wear on mold. And then Ill have a price. It will be less than 300 for sure, and hopefully around 200. itll be a 50 discount for people that hung with me and purchased. Especially if you are selling using sellbuddy!
I would have bought your HIC front if you were selling them at the time I bought mine, but I think I bought it a month or two before you came back. So I have a lot more work to do on mine (3 pieces) than someone who gets your full front. Looking forward to some good news on these molds.
I need to get everyone everything they want, and I will start doing these. Ill start on a second mold tomorrow, try to do these and get ahead by 20 or so of them, then open up a run. Maybe 5-10 slots.
I'm also interested in these. I'm on the list for this HiC run as well. Hope all goes well 12/18. Thanks for all your hard work on this!
I should have 5 to ship this week. (I think ill have them all done today and laying flat a couple days.)
maybe 6. Then the last couple late next week.
Thanks for the update. Just wanted to mention that I'm also very interested in getting a set of HIC panels, but I probably won't be able to make the purchase until Mid-January...
When the HIC front panel arrives, does it need to be flatten immediately once it arrives? I'm worried my HIC panel will beat me home by a couple of weeks.
You said the side panels will be $50 less if a customer bought a HIC front cast. Do you issue a refund though PayPal?
Thank you for all your hard work.
Ill send a refund via paypal, But the price ended up being 250, with a $25 discount for pre-purchase discount in the first run. If people want to wait ( likely til next year) until I make more molds (when time permits) I think I can get them down another 25.
These will prob go out tuesday/weds. Heres the picture of my new carpet I just installed.
One of the 8 didnt turn out perfect. It has a tear in the surface. (Small) I need to make another. The rubber is on the way, I hope to get it done by surg weds. I have friends helping me ship things.
Alright. I boxed and delivered 6 han solos. ZOD is waiting for some panels to go out with it.
That leaves 7, I have 6 to ship.
I will message the past person on the list to see if they want a slightly malformed pull at a discount, or if they want to wait until the week of christmas for me to make and ship.
Thanks, Ill be back on the board in a couple days.
PERFECT!! Take care!!
Out of surgery. Sleep time. But I lived. So you'll all get your stuff. Soon.
Great to hear all went well!!
Hi Sr, replied to your pm. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Take care.
I received the replies. I have one good one to ship. It should go Friday. I'll make zods and one more early next week and then All orders filled.

No worries @ ALL bro! Speaking for myself, take all the time that's needed.
Glad to hear everything went well, Mike! And it looks like I'll have a nice Christmas gift arriving soon..
Are you going to post another SellBuddy link for the HiC panels, or should I just PM you? Definitely still interested in those too, and can pay whenever you're ready to accept orders. Happy holidays!
Soon. Have two shipped. Two more to ship and then I'll post 5 more.

My front panel arrived this morning.... All I can say is WOW! Stormrider has a great reputation and I expected a great product but this exceeds all expectations. Great job! For those lucky enough to be included on this run, you will be impressed. For those thinking about making a HIC in the future, immediately order when Stormrider offers his next run!
Glad you like it. Don't forget the build pics.

Got mine today. Fantastic. Thanks so much for such great communication and service.
Santa brought mine today! It's beautiful!!!! If you are looking for a great HIC, this is the guy to but it from! The rubber quality is great and the layers are nice and thick. I can't wait to get this project finished! Thanks Stormrider!!!!
The key on these is trying to get the flat layer fairly thin, so it lays flat easily, but build up thickness on the han details. I do it with what I call a rubberglass technique, which is way more time consuming than just brushing it on, but it makes for a decent rubber pull.
Im glad you guys like it, the last couple should go out tomorrow.
Then ill add a few more to the list. Thanks again for everyone being patient.
There was a problem with ghents cast. Some thin spots and a place where it looks like it may have torn.
I haven't seen it yet, and I don't know the state, but as these are a hand made item, and some minor flaws are common.
We talked about ways of making up some $ on the item, but his last mail today (after I thought we were under agreement) was that he was going to start the refund process through paypal, even though we were trying to sort it out (and I already offered a full refund). I don't pertonally care for this type of situation, as I have never had anyone insinuate that I wasn't going to take care of the problem.
I am going to issue him a full refund, and he is going to mail it back. I will have a 'second' for sale, once it reaches me if anyone wants it. So GHENT: Please ship the HIC back asap, as I mentioned in the FIRST response to your issue.
SR, just letting you know that i received my package today. The HIC is in great condition. Thanks for everything! I will leave feedback on TDH and sellbuddy shortly..
I'm still fairly new to this board beyond quasi-lurking since starting to plan on a HiC build last year. It is true that my full panel arrived with a tear, some thin spots, and several areas where the rubber had cracked apart. There was a mix up between Stormrider and myself, and I did not get his response to me. Because of that, I didn't know we were in agreement on the next step (and actually, Stormrider had made a nicer offer to make things right than what I had suggested to him). When I contacted him again a few days later I mentioned PayPal and didn't realize this would be such an issue.
At this point, we're back on the same page and it should all work out fine. Here's hoping I'll have some time soon to get started and post pictures of my build as it progresses!
Ugh. The panels, sent as reimbursement for my defective HiC full panel, have arrived mostly broken. 5 of 8 are unusable... So now that's a HiC full panel with a tear, multiple thin spots, and several areas with rubber cracking apart, and 5 of 8 panels cracked or broken. The panels weren't even really packaged to be protected, arriving in a reused broken box and not individually wrapped but rather just all thrown together in a heap.
Hopefully Stormrider will get back to me soon and make this right. I've been trying for over a year to get started on a HiC build, and so far everything's gone wrong.
Guys, in all my years of doing what I do, there is one huge lesson I've learned that will ring true for anyone that takes on the task of providing 'things' for people. And that is, no matter how good you are, you will make a mistake at some point with an order, or pull a bad casting and not know it until it's too late. It's just the nature of the beast.
At the end of the day, it's how you rectify the situation. And Mike, is a standup guy. Always has been. He's very picky about his items. And situations like this are bound to happen for one or more reasons like, not knowing he had a bad batch of materials or something (hence the replacements showing up defective as well). Sometimes you can't put your finger on what went wrong until several are made and you see a consistent defect. He will make it right for you. This you can take comfort in.

Thanks for the words of advice, Fettpride. I'm still happily working with Stormrider and Iconicprops, and there's a straightforward plan to get me some replacement panels soon.
I'm not upset with anyone as much as just frustrated that every step taken so far hasn't really worked out as hoped. It's not anyone's fault things have gone this way, it's just how things have worked out. And minus the mix-up when Stormrider thought he sent me a message that actually disappeared into the ether, everything's gone very smoothly interacting with him and he's gone beyond my expectations to try and make this right.
So again, I don't doubt Stormrider and Iconicprops will do everything they can to make it all work out in the end. I'm just wondering what crazy random thing will happen next to cause a problem... Another polar vortex? Kaiju attacks? Moon-sized space stations with super lasers? ;-) To quote a captain: "How come it never goes smooth?"
I received my HIC! Now, I have heard everyone rave about the quality & detail of Mike's HICs... but good LORD! I'll have to say I was expecting a lot....and I was STILL overwhelmed. This build will certainly take some time ( what build doesn't?- HA ), but I'm so glad I was able to snag one of these! THANKS MIKE!!
can't wait for another run!

I am feeling the HIC coffee table bug bad...just saying.
