The finish just won't hold up on em. The knee is just a weak point but you can reinforce them with some plastic or metal epoxied at the bend.
every sale thread I've seen(and it's only been two or three) the seller almost had to beg to get rid of them. But they won't break for sure.

    Re: Rubber Knees? Anyone?

I made the rubber knees, they were HEAVY. They were off of fett prides knees as a master.

If theres someone with an accurate set of vac formed knees that would let me do a test, I think I can make a set of knees that wouldn't break, and wouldn't be that heavy. But my armour sculpts have been on hold for two years so I wont have mine done any time soon.

@boba trooper. I'm just funning mate, nothing at all wrong if someone wants rubber knees. But I was trying to be helpful by saying there is a reason they're not very popular. The idea is good, they had just tended to be more problematic than the ABS. Fiberglass cracked if it gets hung up, and the rubber were heavy and had poor paint adhesion.

If only someone could talk to the rubber guys at Legacy Effects… they can even get chrome to stick to rubber and have it remain flexible?! They have been using it on lots of their latest Iron Man, Pacific Rim, etc. suits and the Winter Soldier arm

Necro, ive done cold cast rubber, and about every rubber you can do. Perhaps you didn't read my post. I don't have the sculpts or the rights to use anyone elses sculpts. And the previous versions have been heavy. I can for sure do a set of knees that's lighter. But sure, feel free to contact them.

The prop community as a whole will figure those techniques out one day. It will be cool when it happens. That's all.

Vacformed is accurate and plenty flexable enough (youre not really in combat with this stuff). Keep an eye out for new materials and possibilies soon though.

i just want the ability to kneel down and not crack one. Biggest issue with my ODST...I can't kneel down..the one instance I did, the knee popped right off, and when Liz did the same, her entire knee RIPPED off...

    Re: Rubber Knees? Anyone?

We shall teach you the ways...you saw Rick kneel down at DC to propose...you dont kneel on the knee it should go up on top. Get velcro sewn so it rides up when you bend at the knee...and for the straps that go around ancor 1 side and the other use a snap. Ive found this to be the bestest....I can take a pic of it later how I ancor them if you want. txt it to you if you want and really if you did rubber and knelt on the paint it would mess it up pretty sure.
