FS: Remote RF kit interest thread

My brother made this and we posted it in our local Mandalorian page on Facebook and it generated some interest. He is considering doing a run of 5 if there is interest. If everything runs smoothly and there is more interets he will do more. Cost right now he is estimating at $110 shipped in US. The kit will include the receiver and transmitter with 2 switches ( one up and one down)and the servo. Bear in mind he was only doing this as a test for his own helmet as a proof of concept. The buttons on his transmitter will be removed and extended.



Here is a new video showing the size and possible placement options. The gauntlets are RKD. ROTJ would be left gauntlet and ESB would be right gauntlet.


Please feel free to ask questions or comment. It can only help us provide you with a better product. We are looking into PWM as an option for limiting the 90 degree of motion and possibly control LEDs in the RF top as part of a future upgrade.

These kits will include the aluminum shaft to connect the stalk to the servo, battery boxes and plastic mounting hardware.

I pm'd you about this SK. I am merely posting for my brother who is doing this based on the tutorial that was posted. From my understanding, you were having trouble sourcing parts for these. I did not show the parts I bought from you to my brother. He did this separately and on his own.

SK, does the new one work using pulse width modulation? That is how it should actually work, flip a switch and it sends a Pulse width signal that tells the servo to rotate exactly 90 degrees and stop, hit the switch again and it goes in the opposite direction.

Our kit does not have PWM yet. We are looking into it. Our kit currently has 2 switches. One up and the other down.

Do you know the maximum weight that the servo will lift? The reason I ask is because a couple of years ago I built a unit from the ZipZap tutorial, using what I think was the same 77 low profile servo. It would lower the stalk, but didn't have the power to raise it back up. I was thinking it was because my RF topper had a self contained board with 2 disc style batteries and the LED's. I thought maybe it was too top heavy. I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on that. I'm thinking of getting a new set up ( as mine is junk now) but I'm wary of that 77 servo.
