    Nov 15, 2016, 9:21 PM - Le1120's Fett V2 slush-cast AND gelcoat helmet kits *Limited run of 20* #1

***EDIT: I will stop taking orders for these May 16. Due to travel plans, taking and fulfilling orders for these over the summer is not possible.***

    Hi all,

As many of you may know, I have been, for the past year, sculpting a very special helmet based largely on the very accurate and detailed templates of RafalFett. I am now ready to offer a limited run! I'm very excited for this, and I hope many of you will be too.

This helmet is not specific to any type. I have done that so that there is room for it to be used however people would like. It does lack the 'warped' features of the ESB helmet, but I am currently in the middle of making an ESB specific one, so if you're interested shoot me a PM so I can gauge interest.

This helmet is fiberglass reinforced, a gelcoat helmet, (or slush-cast, your choice), and the ears and other details will be made from resin, the same material as the gelcoat.

The detail parts pictured are mostly not final. Some ear pieces look a little shoddy, and that's because they were printed with my home 3D printer. All my final parts are ordered from Shapeways, then tweaked before molding happens.

If I can get enough interest (aka get a majority of slots taken), I will include metal borden connectors instead of resin ones. The hole for the borden is not drilled out on the raw casts (and thus in the photos). I will do that myself before sending you your kit.

The RF topper will come from DVH, who has come out with his own very accurate parts which I will include with this kit. The ones pictured are slightly different. You can fit Jc27's light kits inside of these.

    Included in each kit:
    Gelcoat Helmet.
    Resin ear pieces.
    Separate RF pieces.
    Resin RF stalk, reinforced.
    Resin MQ-1 circuit board.
    Visor from t-visor.com.
    Assorted hardware.

***EDIT: I will stop taking orders for these May 16. Due to travel plans, taking and fulfilling orders for these over the summer is not possible.***

Price will be $215 plus shipping and insurance at the buyer's option. $60 down initially, the rest when I'm ready to ship it to you. Payment through Paypal only please.

I will personally touch-up any bits of the helmet that may have accidental flaws. If, by any chance, you order a helmet which you are not satisfied with, I will be more than happy to accept returns and pay return shipping.

Here's the interior of one of the fiberglass reinforced ones.

I have no doubt it'll fit you. At it's base it is 9 and 1/2 inches wide, and 10 and 1/2 inches long. As its measured to be the same as the screen-used helmets, its large, but not overly so.

When I'll be able to ship these will depend mostly on how soon I'll be able to get the funding to get the accessories, especially the RF toppers from DVH and how soon those arrive. I expect, should I have to, and should materials last, I'll be able to pull something like 4 casts per week. I'm hoping to send these out around January, if things go well.

Ok, so when you say made with gelcoat, your not talking gelcoat and fiberglass, looks like you are doing a resin slush cast.

Its the same material all the way through. The resin is the gelcoat.

I've been using high quality urethane resin for these, smooth-on's smooth cast 65D, if that's useful information to know.

Trimmed and primed cast to give folks an idea of what it would look like in those stages. This one I'm planning to fully paint myself! I apologize for the crappy iPhone photos, hopefully I can get better ones up soon.

I would suggest editing your thread title and removing gelcoat. Gelcoat is typically a polyester resin with a thickener and is almost always backed by fiberglass mat and polyester or epoxy resin. A helmet that is 100% slush cast urethane resin is not a gelcoat construction and is somewhat misleading. Better to be more specific and avoid issues.

Good point. I think I was initially confused as to the differences in names. I may change it back once I finish figuring out how to do fiberglass ones.
