*KARMA Thread* 1 Resin ASI Scope and Wookie Braids

Id like to introduce this game to TDH, we play it on another message board for Nissan Titans, and the stakes are much higher trading truck parts. It’s called KARMA, here’s how it’s played.

I offer up something Fett related; in this case a set of side pouches from SFP that ive had laying around for about a year. First 20 people that respond to this thread (or 3 days, what ever one is sooner) gets their name in the hat; after that ill pull a name from there and they will be the winner. Now only respond to this if you have something else to offer up. That’s part of the game, you get something for free then you offer up something Fett related for free to the TDH community, and it keeps going on from there. SO if you respond have something in mind, and not like something lame.

Now on that Nissan Titan board this has had great success for a long time. Some parts are being offered run around $200 on down. But the game over there has brought the community closer together, and has earned the trust and friendships of others. So I was wondering if the same can be had here.

Like I said the moral of the game is to offer up something to someone that needs it and return the favor to others. I’m sure this will be meet with speculation at first but give it a chance. Mods I didn’t see anything about something like this in the COC, so if im out of line take me out back and smack me around. And this is my 2,000 post.WOW.

    So who’s the first 20?

    Well thats a 50 50 chance

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let’s change up the rules a little. It’s been almost 5 years, time for a change.

Instead of just Fett parts or whatever let’s make it any Star Wars item trade for a trade. But it has to be Star Wars related whether that’s costume parts for toys or toys for posters or posters for VHS taps.

That sounds like a neat idea, I have a couple of fett parts I'm willing to part with. Add me to the Karma pool

Add me to the list, sounds great. The only thing I am missing right now are side pouches, how appropriate! I have some things to offer.

    Thanks.

I don't see anything wrong with this so long as folks keep it honest and don't throw in their name if they don't have anything to offer and so long as they follow through with then giving their item away. I think this is an interesting idea- pay it forward.

Exactly that’s the idea, and it dose not just have to be costume parts, not everyone has extra armor laying around. Toys and such would be acceptable just as long as they pertained to the bounty hunters that TDH supports.

Good post Mirax. Just to keep it on the "up and up," I have a resin, painted left gauntlet missile to offer up if I happen to be drawn for the pouches.

I think I will make this a sticky thread so it doesn't fall off the board. I'd also like to make an official thread title and then we can just change the name of the item that is up for grabs...any ideas?

On the other board I got the idea from it took a little while to take off. But once it got going there is something up every 2 weeks or so now. But I am surprised and even a little disappointed in the participation. I figure free stuff and all you have to do is the same in return would be a little more popular. But it's new so give it some time.

I would offer up, but cannot in good conscience do so, I don't have anything worthy to offer up at this time. I think this is a fantastic idea, I hope you aren't discouraged. Don't feel disappointed because 100% of the active members aren't jumping on this one. Maybe more will get involved after the first successful round. Top notch idea. I will make an effort to have something to offer before this round ends or at the start of the next.

    Shortimer,

I have to offer a Webley replica resin barrel, and an extra set of chest armor, cod piece, and lower back piece. Nothing fancy, made out of sintra, I don't need them anymore. Besides, they may come in handy for someone else. I will offer up all of these in one grab. If I win, I will post pictures. Additionally, If I dont win, I would be interested in what the winner had to offer for the next drawing, I may also be interested in that drawing.

Thanks, I think this is a great idea.

Hmmm if only those were ESB pouches... guess i gotta wait for ESB stuff.

    Two questions:

    1. How do we make sure the winner is truly chosen at random?

    2. Should we ask people to state their item before they go on the list?

Re: KARMA, ROTJ Fett side pouches

Hmmmmmm, good questions. It could go either way. I think maybe you should state the item you are posting. It would be nice to see people in the drawing who are looking for something they genuinely need, rather than something they can get for free and put on eBay a few days later.

On the contrary, this is a friendly gift pass, why exclude someone just becasue they don't NEED something. And who would determine what someone "needs". After all, this is about networking with other members and doing something fun for everyone. Shouldn't all members be entitled to particpate regardless of need?

I'm not sure. I think maybe you should post the item you are offering. If not, every drawing has the potential to get out of hand. If people know what the item is, it may help keep the lists under control.

As for picking a winner, for something like this it has to be an honor system. I don't think we need to establish a policy of having a third party to monitor the drawing. If you are offering up one of YOUR items for FREE, we should expect you to be fair and impartial. I think to make this work it needs to be as simple as possible.

I think it should be made clear that if you are intersted in an item, do not PM the person offering it to try and bargain. It is simple, if you are interested, post your name, and the person running the drawing will put you on the list.

I also think that there should be no limit on the number of entrants. Rather, it should be based solely on who responds no later than, say, 3 days after the post is submitted.

Just my thoughts, what do you guys think?

Also, the issue of shipping arises. If I offer my item and I draw somone from overseas, would it be unacceptable to ask for assistance with shipping, or should that be part of the drawers responsibilty.

The only reason I ask is becasue I have seen people from all over the world here, and shipping an item could get costly.

Should that just be the responsibilty of the person offering the item. For example, if I am worried someone from Australia may win, should I offer something small enough I know it would not break the bank to ship it?

Sorry for the multiple posts. I should have just put it this way the first time?

    I think:

    1) Post what your item is.

    2) The drawing should be an honor system.

    3) The person offering the item pays for shipping.

We should keep is simple. If you don't like it, you don't have to participate.

Not sure on the shipping part because of what you bring up, overseas- that can get quite expensive but we don't want to exclude anyone. I think shipping should be the responsibility of the winner. But they should only be charged actual shipping costs, not shipping/handling/packing, blah blah.

What an interesting idea. The only question I have is, how do you prevent depreciating value ? In other words, if you go pouch, then next person goes spat, the next person goes fett pez dispenser...what is the impetus for the next person to put up something of equal value ? Even if you do put something up as a high ticket item, at some point, someone really is going to put up a Pez dispenser.

How did your other board control for that ?

Good will, trust, reputation, a sense of community and the honor system I would assume, since that seems the intent of the whole event.

I trust TDH members, besides, I don't think anyone would want their name smeared because they pulled a fast one. We're a pretty tight knit community so everyone would know about it.

Another thought is, to some a Fett Pez dispenser could very well be worth as much as spatz to them. They have different values to different people. I work with some people that don't think our Fett costumes are worth anything (they will be fired shortly though ).

It's all about the honesty and integrity.

Hell, lets try it out !

Seems like a good idea. I just don't see a need for the whole drawing part of it. There should be a Trade area as a counter part to the Cargo Hold. You have something to trade, post it along with a $$ value and what you're looking for. Interested members can either post or PM with offers. You pick the trade you want, and then work out the shipping privately.

I just don't see the need of waiting for my name to be drawn out of a hat to see my trade happen. It doesn't seem quite right that I could offer up a set of gauntlets worth $250, and end up with something I don't need or even want.

As for the overseas shipping issue, USPS does have very reasonable shipping. The only drawback is that it is VERY SLOW. Like six to eight weeks slow!

    My 2 cents

Sorry for my late response and drawing. I was teaching some college kids how to party this week end at the river. Im still a little hung over.

I will say that you guys are thinking way too much into this. I entire game is base on the honor system and the fact that you want to do something nice of a complete stranger. Lets not make this more difficult then it really is.

Winners are chosen on the honor system, if I wanted someone to have item id just give it to them. There is no need of a committee to draw the name. Here’s how I did it, I asked my gal to pick a number, simple solution.

No, or yes. It's up to you.
Shipping, do it how ever you want to do it. As for me, shipping in the U.S. ill pay for. Out side they can pay for it.

Yeah I did that one time and I had 50 people put their names in. I was not a big fan of keeping up with the thread, having to check it all the time to see if I missed some ones name. Hints why I give a limit on the number of people. But if you want to run it like that then go ahead.

They don’t, main reason is because truck parts are not cheep and what ever you get and give up will cost some bank. If you give up you entire Fett collection and the next guy gives up a pair of boots then that’s the deal. No controls just let it be known if you get an item that’s worth some money then you should do the same in return. But if someone puts up a bucket and the next guy puts up a pair of pouches then that’s the deal.
Who wants to be known as the guy that got the FP bucket and is now offering a Pez? Not I.

OK first I don’t think you understand the concept of the game, im not trading any thing here.
Read the front page “THE CARGO HOLD[/COLOR] (4 Viewing)Have a Star Wars item for sale or trade? Looking for a particular item? Check out this forum." It's right there, Put your stuff on the CH if you want to trade something.

I could have sold my stuff and made a few extra needed bucks, I could have traded it for something. But I didn’t, im giving it away. Trust me I need the money, im unemployed, I got laid off 5 months ago on my birthday, and im going to have to move 1600 miles if I get this next job. So I sure could use the money, but insted I thought id do some thing worth wild.

cool beans, I guess I'm next on the list. If that's the case I'm going to throw a pair of TK409 ESB gloves up for grabs. Will shortimer handle the next drawing?

Re: KARMA, ROTJ Fett side pouches

Since I was the winner, I am going to handle the next drawing and I will post the pictures in a few hours, if not tomorrow.

I will be offering the following:

    1. Set of chest armor (front, left, ab, diamond). This is made out of sintra or plastic I think. Forgive me, I am not sure. It is not flimsy garabge, but it is not high end either. Got it from someone a while back.

    2. COD piece, also sintra or plastic.

    3. Lower back piece (this and the cod piece acutally came together when I bought these some time ago).

    4. Replica webley barrel, pretty sure this is resin. I am not the maker of this, I bought it from someone a while ago. I think it came from ebay. I decided not to you use it because I went with a piece of PVC instead.

    5. I also have some leffover waterslide decals I bought from WizardofFlight for the jet pack. If Wizard has no objections, I would like to include those as well. I did not need to use them all.

I will run this drawing basically the same as shortimer, email me if you want to be on the list. I will not put a limit on entrants and will keep the list open until Thursday at midnight.

    Pictures to follow.

Put me on the list please.

Re: *KARMA* Armor, webley, decals up for grabs-see post #31

OK, here are the pictures. Sorry for the delay. I used these pieces to test various different paint styles, colors, and techniques, so the lucky winner will most likely need to do a good sanding and re-paint. There is nothing wrong with the actual pieces, they just need some re-working. I also tried to include a close-up of the armor thickness.

After checking the lower back piece and COD, I noticed they are not the same quality as the chest armor. They are pretty flimsy, probably made out of For Sale signs. The winner may want to reinforce those pieces. FYI

    Here is what you get:

    -Chest Armor
    -Collar Piece
    -COD Piece
    -Lower Back Piece
    -Replica Resin Webley Barrel
-Leftover WOF Jet Pack Decals (No picture, sorry)

If you want to be on the list, email or PM me. Lets get as many people as possible involved in this!

    List closes Thursday at midnight.

    Good luck!

Just like shorttimer said, you don't have to offer up only costume parts. If you have a Boba/Jango/Zam action figure, artwork, lunchbox, thermos, poster, keychain, ballcap, etc, that may be what someone wants/needs. Heck, I'd be interested in the Boba Pez dispenser!

Also remember, things like sculpting tools, materials, supplies, etc, may also be something another member really wants.

I say offer whatever you have, as long as it is Star Wars or prop/costume building related. If people are interested, they'll play.

WOW! I'm shocked, suprised, and very very happy! I told my wife that I won, and she responded with "You already have armor!" This is very true, and now it means I can share some with a buddy of mine just starting into the costuming world. Thanks azheat01!

Now, for submission to the pool, I've got half of a US tent shelter half. In short, this is enough material to make an ROTJ cape. This is just the material from the tent, some work will be required to get this baby screen accurate, but it can be done. Check out the tutorial on Brak's site for more information how.

Please PM me if you want to be in the pool! I'm taking entries until July 6th at midnight! This will allow those that end up going away for the holiday a little extra time to get in on it, if they like. The winner will be announced on the 7th.

    Good Luck! and thanks.

I'm still taking names for the drawing. If you are in need of an ROTJ cape, here might be a chance to get one for free. Plus, THEN if you win, you get to offer something to the pool to help someone else.

WOO HOOO mandos! alright here is what I am offering up. 1 MQ-1 board PLUS the mold for it this will allow you to MOLD as many as you want the mold has some wear but it is outside of the detail and into the main brick so it will not interfere with the accuracy of the mold itself.
I will also include notes and supplier for the material. This was bought from a very respectable TDH member here. It is great for someone wanting to start molding as it will give an awesome chance to learn the whole process without..too much mess or the expense of actually making a mold.

I am not sure of the process as far as do I pull the name out of the buyce? or someone else? anyway respond if you want on the list please.

currently I am trying to fing my camera to take a pic ( I just got done moving) but am not sure which box the camera is in. I do however know exactly where all my costume parts are though wierd hunh?

It's pulled every friday right? 1 week???

Also I will be PMing the info instead of sending hardcopy. It has at least 1 link to a site and that will be easier to click on and begin browsing the molding info. Rather than typing it in.

That's not why I am writing anyway. I got my tent half today and WOW. That was quick, and there were extras in the box to the best was the boba fett pez dispenser. I was robbed of it by my 5 year old son who loves boba fett. thanks You Rock Brianthesith.

    Sorry about the delay guys, I've included some pictures and changed the pool slightly. I unfortunately couldn't find the resin missile that came with my gauntlet kit so I am adding the following;

Resin MQ1 Cicuit Board (I hope I got the name right)
One bottle of Sun Yellow Spray Paint (According to Affo's paint list this is the yellow for the knees and shoulders, I also hope I got this right)

You can find pictures of everything below, also the next time in the pool I will offer a SGT FANG BUCKET!!!!

The gloves are a size large, are you looking for exact measurements? Just post in this thread and I'll bust out the measuring tape

I don't think it did, we just need to keep the mods updating the title, etc. I don't know if they can do a purge of old stuff too, or if we want to keep it all intact, so we can see who's recieved what, given what, etc.

I recieved my stuff from azheat01, skirata recieved his, that is the last I know of it.

Re: *KARMA* Free TK409 gloves, MQ 1 circuit board and more.

Sorry for the delay been out of contact and now ready to offer the following for the Karma Pool.

    1. Weathered Resin Gauntley Missle, excellent shape
    2. Pinned and accurately painted ESB Fett Gauntlet Flamethrower. No breaks, cracks, or stress.

I can take photos and forward to one of you to post, because I can't seem to get them to load with this message.

And let the list begin . How is a 7 day pool on these items?

    Thanks, Citizen Snips

    Ron

I don't see any reason why you can't be put on the list again. Winners are chosen at random, so as long as you can list something else to give if you win, thus keeping the list going, what's the problem with winning more than once?
