Update!

Picked up metal casting today for 4 guns. The top 5 of the list will be getting thier guns fairly soon. I regret to say that the waxes I gated up last week are not as far as I wished they were. I exchanged some strong words with the foundry so I expect the process to move along faster now.

And I've rough shaped the curves on 6 of the stocks, and yesterday I sanded those down to about 120 grit. Routing out the slot for the handle flange, shaping the taper on the front end, and finish sanding are all that remain on those.

Re: interest in the Hand-Schaub bronze Webley

Another update on the first five... fitting is done! I forgot just what a pain in the *** it is to get these things in 'working' order. It seems simple to drill a few holes, tap a few more then slide things together. In the case of cast items they rarely fit 'well'. So it always takes a lot longer than I think . The barrel ends need to fit a tube and some do, some don't. The ones that had 'fix it' welds and what not need to be re-ground out to fit the tube. Some are a tight fit, but they fit.

I know I can find this info elsewhere but I'm tired and lazy now... how far out does the flash tube stick out?

Anyways, next step is to do a final wire wheeling to even out the surface and clean it then it's on to the black patina. Final assembly then shipment! Yay!

The handle flange is routed, and the first batch of stocks are finished and ready to put on the castings.

I never went so far as to searching the forum for a measurement of how far the flash tube should stick out, but I did compare a lot with the screenshots and promo pics and ended up with 10.5 cm (just above 4 inches) past the forward barrel ring, and I think that turned out pretty much spot on compared to the pictures.

The castings look beautiful! Looking forward to mine.

After visiting the foundry and working out some the 'confussion' with the current batch of guns they are all now on the fast track to being poured in metal.

The current first five are also very close. I got a pretty nasty cold making it difficultt on work on them the last week. I did do some work but in the net two weeks I will have the first five DONE and ready to ship!

Just seen this thread. Simply incredible. How much would one be shipped to the UK? And will these be shipped in kit form that one can assemble? Also would you be able to sell different parts? I'd be interested in just the metal body (barrel and receiver, scope rings, molex).

Re: interest in the Hand-Schaub bronze Webley

I just offer the gun so there would be no scope rings or anything like that. I can offer any degree of finish you like and any section you like. The main parts are the barrel, thehandle assembly and the push button 'thing' that hold the two together. I can cut waxes to offer just the grip or bracket as well. If you are handy with metal finishing and what not I can offer rough castings as well for about half the price of a finished one.

Shipping will be International flat rate for a medium box ($50) the guns wil need minor assembly (to screw it together) in order for it to fit in the flat rate box.

Been away from this board for a long time due to life/family issues. Just catching up and can't believe these are being made. Is it too late to jump in? Absolutely no rush to receive on my end.

I'm wrapping up the first 5 this evening and tomorrow. There are a few at the foundry. When those return in metal I will hopefully bring new waxes to the foundry. I will most likely create a new run of these to keep things nice and neat. So, to answer your question - YES, I will make more but I will need to gather up a few more interested people (otherwise the foundry charges more per unit which I can not afford).

Update on the first five coming soon!

Finishing pictures! I can explain more in depth if you want but generally what you see here are pictures of the guns being finalized. They are wire wheeled and degreeesed which is why they are shiny gold. They would tarnish very quickly if left out. The next series shows the patina process with the spray. I didn't really like this process as it left kind of an uneven finish on them. They were dried and warmed and waxed. The wax is a very hard a durable wax so they should stand up pretty well. There are a few shots of the beautiful stocks with the improved screw posts in them (like an original). they all have the limited 'action'. they will be shipped in three parts so that they can fit into a flat rate box. If you do not have the ability to screw three screws I can ship it fully assembled but it would require additional shipping costs. So there it is!!!

I received a slip in the mail today telling me I had a package from the US waiting for me. Imagine my disappointment when the tracking number didn't match up with that of my blaster.

I wonder what it is though, I don't remember ordering anything else from the US recently. Feels like a late christmas present.

I should be picking up metal for the rest of the guns as early as the end of the week. More realistically I wiont be able to pick it up until mid next week. It will take a bit of time to finish and fit them but it shouldn't be too long anymore.

Great - glad it got to you all right. This should be the week where the foundry pours the rest. As usual if I don't hound them then I think they just let them sit. Anybody who has ever wrked with artisans probably can relate with me on that one

It will be pretty soon. I got word today that the guns are in metal. I will be picking htem up shortly. Originally I thought I would pick them up on the 31st of January but I may have to go out that way before then and I can pick up the raw castings. It will take some time for me to do the cleaning and fitting on them but at least I'll be able to supply everybody with a picture once and a while.

Come up with a price, and timeframe you need the $$ and Im in for that...the flashing is unseen you could cast it like that and Id be happy the strength of the bracket is the reason I want it. I think anyone with a plastic blaster with wood stock is gonna want this REALLY BAD.

I had two "D" brackets cast and a grip. Who needs one?

Here's a progress pic of this batch of guns. I started with general clean up of the big metal gate chunks. I'll be drilling and tweaking in the coming week and doing final surface clean up after that.
For those in need of a bracket I have two at $85 each. The grip is an extra $40 (I only have one). The grip will be high buff polished and the D Bracket will be cleaned and chemicallyblackened.

by main body, do you mean only this part? The grip and D bracket are cast in the same piece.

Re: interest in the Hand-Schaub bronze Webley

So I worked quiet a bit on these today. I know it doesn't look like much but I did all the fitting and drilling and tapping on these. The metal casts have a lot of little things that hang up. The next step is to do cosmetic clean up which in turn helps with the fitting on these. If I made these non-opening then I would be done already...and they would be cheaper too. It takes a lot of work to fit the parts. If anybody in the future wants one withot an opening barrel I will cut the price by $100 right off!
I also heard the stocks are ready. I'll be fitting the pins and springs in by the end of the week. My expectation is to have the guns ready by the end of nesxt weekend!

Okay - I'll cast a wax and show you how I think this will work out. I'll adjust price if you want it static. What one saves in bracket metal may be used up in the handle and wax work. But it's worth a shot.

- - - Updated - - -

Update on current batch. Today is the day I finish these up! the barrels proved to be a huge annoyance as casting them bulks the tube slightly and 'fixes' to the barrel makes it so I have to grind out the interior. I don't know if everybody intends on using a three cell flash tube but it has been a pain to get the interiors shaved down enough to accomodate them.

Ok... after long last the next 4 Webleys are done.
So... I may be speaking a bit out of emotion but with the exception of Buckaroo trooper's Webley, these will be the LAST time I ever offer the functional locking model. No matter how many of these I do they always are problematic. Aside from the novelty of the barrel 'clinking' into place I see no good reason to make these 'function'. In the end I feel like I give less than stellar work even though I put in hours upon hours of time getting them to the working point. So without further ado... here they are...

Well - I don't want to scare off anybody else. I just think yours will be the last one to be 'functional'. I will still be happy to make '1 piece' castings (they'll look the same just not open)

Ok - at this point all I have at the foundry is one full Webley for Buckaroo and a grip for Magoo. Am I missing anything/anybody?

Also - I did deposit down for one extra gun in the case that someone is a hold out. I am sensing that I will not make any more of these for a long while again. So, as of now I have one spot open.

by main body, do you mean only this part? The grip and D bracket are cast in the same piece.
have you got, or can you do just this part , if so how much

yes - I can do that part. You wouldn't need the "U" section on it? I assume you want a cleaned up piece which is patina black? This part requires the most finishing (gate at the bottom plus chasing the welds on the bracket section) I can do $240 plus shipping.

ok - no problem. Metal is expensive stuff and it surprises me too how much it adds up.

But oh so worth it.

I'm still really happy you made another run and were willing to ship to Sweden!

I don't come on here as often any more, just wanted to pop in and say I got my Webley in record shipping time. The piece is outstanding, beautiful craftsmanship all around. And quite weighty too! I feel bad for Mr. Bullock for having to hold one of these on set all day. I couldn't be happier with the replica, well done and well worth it!

HS, I haven't been on this forum in a while.
I love the amount of work you put into these, I do have one of these myself although I bought it off a member from Canada.
It is my favourite. Detail to my whole suit and really makes my suit top notch!!

To ANYONE on the fence... Don't hesitate!

I stopped by the foundry today, all the guns are in metal and by next week they should be welded up and roughly finished. After that I'll need a bit of time to drill, tap, and put all the parts together. It's coming together though!

Bronze is in hand and partially finished already. I will be leaving for Galacticon this weekend so I will return to work on it when I return. It shouldn't be too long anymore.
