    Aug 22, 2016, 2:33 AM - GMH Helmet kits in Gelcoat/Fiberglass #1

    Run on Hold until 1-Sept-2017
(Will be out of town all Sumer for work)

GMH helmets in gelcoat and fiberglass.

I purchased a GMH mold from FP last year for my collection and to make Wasteland and myself some GMH's as a fall project. Well my grand plans got side tracked when work kidnapped me for a few special projects, and I had to put the helmet projects on hold last year. Then after seeing a bunch of unanswered WTB: GMH threads and also a good kick in the but by Wasteland over some drinks around Christmas time, I started working on making some just after the holiday break. Of course, just as I started getting the ball rolling, I got kidnapped by work again for a few months and had to put the project to the side for the remainder of the spring. Now my work and home life schedule has stabilized, and I have had the time to start producing a product that I am happy to share with those on TDH.

These helmets are made of a white marine quality gelcoat and is backed by fiberglass layups. Squint edges, cheeks and vents have extra reinforcement to prevent cracking that can happen in those stress areas. Helmets are durable, but very light weight for prolonged trooping and are slightly roomier inside than slush/roto cast GMH helmet due to extra wall thickness the slush/roto cast helmets require.

Price is $310.00 plus shipping and insurance.

    Included in each kit:
    Gelcoat/Fiberglass Helmet.
    Resin ear pieces.
    Separate RF pieces.
    Resin RF stalk.
A Cast MQ-1 circuit board from one of my own MQ-1 calculators.
    Visor (FP premium from t-visor.com).
    Assorted hardware.

*I will not be taking any payment upfront, I will provided you with a total when kit is ready for shipment. This will help prevent any future work commitments from delaying a pre-paid kit from shipping in a reasonable time frame and will keep us all friends. I will only be making about 4 kits a month at this time with my current commitments and will do my best to keep turnaround time at the minimum for those in need.*

**I will only ship international with actual declared value, and insurance! I know this can be a bummer for import tariffs in some countries, but I have seen too many horror stories over the years of items going missing or getting damaged in transit and then the seller is left on the hook for replacement/refund.**

***I have been getting a bunch of requests for replacement parts. I will do my best to accommodate folks as I have time.***

    Parts price list:
RF topper assembly: RF topper, clear lens, Polaroid view finder, view finder lens plus 2 Red LEDs ($30)
    Resin RF Stalk ($5)
Right side RF ear cap ($10)
Right side RF ear base ($5)
Right side Lower right ear ($5)
    Left ear ($5)

    **** US shipping ~$23.00. UK/Australia shipping ~ $70.00****

GMH is smaller than FP2 and has different physical damage to it. GMH might be better suited to someone with a smaller build. But I will let others with more experience pipe in, I don't want to give any builder bias about GMH.

If you looking for a great quality FP2, Wasteland is making some epic helmets availible here:

GMH has the PP2 damage whereas the FPH doesn't. I'm on the shorter side and have a MR now and the GMH is closer to the MR I believe which looks good on me which is the only reason I'm sticking with the GMH instead of the FPH which is another fine helmet don't get me wrong. Plus if you do an ESB you'll need to "fix" the damage to make it an ESB.

They're different in a number of ways but without conducting a lengthy deconstruction and comparison analysis of both I think Skyfire's brief summary covers the ground pretty well. I still think Fettpride's restoration work from the sire GMH to the offspring was pretty amazing because there were some issues to be overcome and he must have put some real graft in to get it to where he did.

Skyfire's assertion, Art's stickied GMH articles and his revelation thread at the RPF, that lead to a fascinating discussion, give a pretty full picture on the GMH.

The fact that these four slots went in twelve hours speaks to the demand still there for this helmet.

It's raining quality buckets these days! how lucky are we to live in times like these FP did the community justice by passing those molds on to more capable hands for realistic time frames.

    Looking good dude!
