a quick pic just out of the box ears fit amazingly...now in comparison to the FP budget which has the ear MOLDED onto it these look molded on they sit that flush with the lid I can wait for mojo to churn out some metal ones though. Without further adieu

You can do it that way...thats how chris does the budget helmets was thinking about using magnets not sure yet...pins arent as secure as id like
Do we have a definent on the screen acurate proses for the mounting , as we see on the GMH casting the lava and the KT plug there are the holes for the Pins - mabey screws its hard to tell the corect method,
i'm a fan of a big glop of Goop myself, but i'm hardly what you would call elegant when it comes to parts you don't see. the insides of everything i do are real horror shows!

Actually, our own Kbrosseau discovered the correct setup on this. There will be a tutorial eventually. It's likely that Gavin's ears will be available before that lol But in a nut shell ... There are screws that screw from the inside of the helmet, through the bottom of the two part upper assembly, and thread into the outer cap of the upper two part assembly. These screws are essentially the "pegs" or "studs" you are all referring to. But they actually thread into the outer cap.
It's not cost effective to implement into a basic resin kit as there would have to be threaded receptacles cast into each cap which would raise the costs of the kits considerably. Otherwise the resin would basically be good for one threading and then strip. The accurate method really should be reserved for alu ears.
The resin kits outer caps really should be glued ;-)

My GMH arrived over the weekend.
I couldn't be happier. I was giddy like a schoolgirl and promptly took it to a party to show some other Fett-heads.
they were quite impressed and couldn't believe how awesome the fiberglass work is. They were simply stunned.
If any of you are straddling the fence about buying one, let me encourage you to pull the trigger. This thing is not only a piece of history, but also a work of art.

Ok, my update ! I'm sure you're all getting quite antsy at the moment.
I'm about a week behind on my original projected estimate. I've decided include
stalks with every kit. So bear with me. It's all worth it for YOU guys and gals
But I must ask a big favor of you all. Please show me the consideration of not asking me when "your" helmet in particular is going to ship or arriveI certainly don't want that to sound cross. Seriously. And I'm not giving gruff to anyone in particular
Very soon, everyone through late December will have their pre-purchased pieces. I know it's been a wait. And very similar to the ESB Holster Production in 2009, it is a process. I know that everyone is excited about receiving their new helmets. And I'm excited to see more of you post them up ! So those that have them, help a brutha out and show them off will ya ?

What is the gelcoat finish of the GMH right out of the box: Flat, satin, semi-gloss, or gloss?
Wow that's sexy. I'm glad I have to wait because I am having the hardest time deciding whether I dare remove those swweeettt original scratches to do my favorite version (ESB). I just don't know if I can do it... but either way what a great problem to have! More time to practice airbrushing.

Minelooks dull because it has been wiped down with Acetone just as Fettpride recommends in this very thread that you are posting in.

Exactly where do the wires pass from the earcap into the helmet? Is there simply a hole in the helmet (where exactly?) or does the quarter circle curved slot in the earcap also continue through the helmet?
There is a slot in the helmet that accounts for the movement of the wires. Look at post #453 in Slave1Pilot's pics to see what I mean.

If you look at the pics from C4 you can see theres a hole in the helmet...

I must be going blind. Where is the hole exactly? I see the slot in the earcap but not a hole in the helmet.
If you look at that pic theres a slot the black slot, thats part of the helmet not the earcap...actually here...this help?

I see, that's why I wasn't getting it. Because it's closed off in all the pictures I've seen. So I need to cut that slot right through the helmet. Gotcha.

Kurtyboy thats not really how it would work if you ran the microswitch... that rectangle would be opened up inside and the holes on the side would be for mounting the switch and running wires
