    Cold Cast Boba Helmets

Here is the official thread about the helmet run for the FP budget Boba helmet in cold cast.

The basic kit is $175 and comes with 1 layer of cold cast and 3 layers resin, cold cast ear cap, clear 3 part range finder, and aluminum range finder stalk. The ears and MQ-1 are already cast into the helmet. You can see more photos and info here http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f23/f...ld-cast-40206/ Shipping in the US is USPS Priority Mail with insurance included.

On the right side I took my hand sander and some steel wool to it.

I cast all my range finder parts in clean and in a pressure pot. The small lens is cast from a real SX-70 lens.

To get on the list, please email me at . I have created a ticket system so that I do not lose who would like. In the past I have been forgotten and forgotten others. My goal is to keep this from happening again. My goal in life is to treat others the way I want to be treated. This is also just a hobby, please remember that. I only make a few helmets at a time. My family and work come first.

    Thanks,
    Asok

To Germany shipping is an extra $50 and shields to make the T visor is an extra $15.

This is a great helmet kit. Got mine a few days ago and I'm sending it out for paint tomorrow. Can't wait to get it back and it's not even gone yet!

Happy to hear you got the helmet in on piece. The PO has been breaking them lately.

One email is all you need. I am working to fill orders as fast as I can. Between trooping, sick, and work, I am a little behind.

OUCH! Pretty sad when something is marked Fragile, they can still break it! Since I am in Ohio, maybe I will drive to Indiana and pick mine up!

I just bought 500 of these stickers

Maybe they will get the hint.

I wanted a sticker that said something else but, it would most likely ensure that they smash it.

Be warned, if you come to Indiana, I will make you cast your own helmet.

It takes about 3 hours to do 2 helmets. I do a Jango and a Boba at the same time. Then about 3 to 4 hours to demold.

Hope to god your not shipping through UPS I work at their main air hub, if anything is marked fragile, some of the people go out of their way to break it.

...Mine was one of the unfortunate ones, I guess. Great looking helmet, but both mandibles were cracked. I had one of those ROTS/ESB "NOOOOOOO!" moments. Maybe I should turn it into a special edition "punched in the face" version?

How does that happen? It looks like the inner layers are intact, but like the CC layer chipped off.

I will throw a few extra $ your way for extra bubble wrap on mine please!

I second that GCNgamer128! I would be more than happy with a standard resin cast, especially since I am going to be painting it.

The cold cast means you don't have to paint the helmet silver first which is what is typically done. A plain resin cast would be fine, but you would just have to paint more.

I am fine with that. I honestly am going to paint the silver myself anyway, cold cast or not, so it will match the rest of my armor.

If the damage weren't exactly on the most visible part of the helmet, I'd probably take on repairing it, but I think I'd be happier sending it back and getting a new one. I don't wanna hijack your sales thread any more than I have already, though, so shoot me a PM and we'll figure it out that way.

BTW everyone, I just wanted to point out that I'm in no way calling out lesser workmanship or anything like that. This is a great looking helmet and I love the cold cast!

All resin helmet with no cold cast. I could do that, never tired. Would need to do a test helmet

Markus, soon as I get new shipping supplies I will have a new helmet out to you. Also, no worries on the hijack. To me it is fun to where we get hijacked to.

To everybody, I talked with a guy who worked for UPS in the claims section. He gave me some pointers on what packing to get and how to better pack it.

    Party on!

As a UPS worker (who does not participate in such acts of box kicking) this is about 99% true. But as a word of wisdom if it is shipped via air, the package will quite possibly have a couple hundred pounds on top of it, as packages are shoved in "cans" for transport

Note: The main UPS Air Hub (In Louisville) where most packages go no matter where their destination, is employed mostly by college kids (they pay out tuition) so packages.

Note 2: About 85% of our packages are marked "FRGILE" so it's kinda normal to see, therefore special attention is usually out of the question, (and college kids handle your packages) So, marking the package will probably not help much.

My verdict would be to ensure that the helmets are heavily packed in the boxes (Styrofoam, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, etc) and make sure the package has room to give incase there is weight put on top of it, so don't let the helmet touch the actual box but leave some (not to much) room inside. But that is just my opinion, if a "professional" told you different then go with them.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like what happens here in Indy. Also, thanks for the ideas on shipping the helmets as well. Means a lot. That is one of the reasons I love this board.

Yes and no. The extra $5 is to cover shipping and the stuff I use to make the helmets went up at least 5%.

Ever figure out a full resin kit yet? I'll be interested in taking the "test" copy if all goes well with it.

Got one of his Jango's and one of FP's...may need to grab one of these for the boy if he decides to scrap his lobster tail back and go with a less flexible, yet more traditional bucket. Nice to see you got the molds. Was hoping someone that did good work would and I ain't disappointed.

Just wanted to say i got mine today and it is BEAUTIFUL!! A very clean, sturdy, lightweight cast. If any of you are on the fence about buying this, don't hesitate! It is worth it!

I was surprised!! This is my first Cold Cast anything and when the metal started to appear it was like magic! Just bummed the clear coat will probably dull it a bit. Gonna use a satin clear to seal it first.

Cutting you mean? Yeah, that will probably be the next step before any painting. I guess I am a bit nervous to do it. The plan is dremel and a very thin exacto-saw blade!

Darth Veach and Jinto...very nice work on those so far

Hey Asok, I just received my helmet today. Great work on these ! It arrived in perfect condition. I know that Chris (FP) does awesome work. I own both a budget helmet cast made by FP and now yours. I like the way that you really piled on the resin making your cast quite thicker and heavier. Nice ! Thanks for continuing on with this project and offering these to the community. And thanks to Chris (FP) for getting your mold to someone that could carry on your outstanding work. You ARE appreciated, brother. Thanks again. If you are ever down in Miami, hit me up for Hooter's Chicken wings, beer, and....ummm hooters.

Thanks. I hated to get rid of it, but I lost my job a while back and some personal things came up and I couldn't justify keeping it. I hope to eventually get another.

I know its not a perfect paint-job, but the cast is amazing. Well worth the price, if your looking for a great bucket don't hesitate.
