Zam rifle conversion parts?

Hey all

I´m wondering where you people have your Zam rifles from?

I´ve found a thread from 2007, where somebody did some pretty accurate scopes/ addons, but it was a one time only run.

Any idea where I could get some accurate machined parts as well as the scope mounts to start my Zam rifle. I´m not a costumer but a prop builder and would love to have this rifle.

Yeah I want those scopes at some point too.

I have a set of scopes from that run... I figured it wouldn't be done again and I better get them while I could. I haven't seen anyone else do them. And yes... they are great!

The rifle itself you can get off of eBay or other re-sellers. It's simply a Kentucky flintlock that's been stripped down and rebuilt with an extra section added to it. Then the "bling" of the extra aluminum and scopes.

I would guess you'd need to find someone who knows how to make that sort of prop... and have them make another run of them.

I already have the rifle, the barrel set etc., but I never found one to do the machined parts as well as the scope-mounts.

Maybe it´d be an option to start an interest list and find a talented machinist.

Yep....I got in on that run too, thank goodness! I kinda forgot about it actually because they've been in Ontario with my friend who is building my rifle for me. He's been in no hurry 'cuz well......I haven't worked on my Zam until very recently. I'll have to light a fire under him now that I have!

Soooo...besides of all you people who actually GOT parts from this run (which I hate you for )...are there any members, who still need these for their Zam rifles?

OR are there any members who are interested in getting rid off the parts from the former run?

I'd be up for some conversion parts. The rifle is next on my to do list.

I would be interested in getting some conversion parts as well, at least at some point. I am just starting on my Zam (still mostly in the information gathering stage), so it would all depend on the timing.

That´d be 3 so far...anybody else?

I still need the scope mounts. So maybe not a whole kit, but definately the scope mounts.

The rifle is one of our future projects as well, so there's interest here.

I am interested as well. No I have no plans on suiting up as a Zam.... You really, really don't want that.

Yikes. I ordered mine several weeks ago. I hope they offer them again.

Okay... first... I don't have the Rifle Mounts either... *sighs* and I'd like a set of those...

Second... No TDH no longer offers the CD's for sale. Hopefully the issues surrounding this will be cleared up soon. Those of you interested in the Zam CD - please PM me and let me know, so I can notify you once the issues regarding the CD's is resolved one way or another.

Okay... finally got pictures of the rifle scope posted. I had wanted to put them in my personal gallery here. But I couldn't get the blasted thing to upload any new pictures. So, they are posted for everyone to see in the TDH Image Gallery - under Zam Wesell (of course!) There are three pics - with the scope apart and together. I didn't take pictures of the screws/o-rings, etc.

Hope this helps anyone wanting pictures. If you want any close-ups or pics with scales, etc. let me know...

I'd like to buy a rifle complete or nearly complete

Here's some prototype parts that I've scaled from the pictures kimnchris posted of the real rifle.
These are machined of 6061 aluminum and should be very close to screen version.
I plan on doing a complete rifle and while I'm at it I thought I'd work out the process by machining multiples of each part.
A couple questions that I have for general comment:
Would you like the scope to be tinted as you look through it. Amber is easily available. Would that be OK or is clear preferred?
Would a kit of all machined parts be desirable or is picking and choosing individual parts preferred?
The pictured part needs painted. Would you like that done or prefer to do it yourself? I would use a baked firearm finish that would be almost black and chip and wear just like an M4.
Scope mounts would be resin. Painted by me or you preferred?
Appreciate any comments.

Looks nice. What kind of price range are we looking at for an unassembled "kit" version of that piece and the other scope?

Haven't worked the process for the telescopic sight out yet.
I'd guess the part shown would go for $60 plus shipping by itself, unpainted.
Actually I was hoping for some feed back to my questions so I could offer a set that most zams would think is accurate.
I'm working on the brass piece and how to attach these things to the rifle, currently.

what about price est on complete finished rifle?

The scope is clear on the real rifle according to the pictures of the rifle that was on exhibit. So yeah, I would prefer clear. Although it would be cool if a translucent insert could be added inside to make it look like the display seen in the movie.

Bubba- Haven't finished my rifle yet so I can't tell you how much.

There's nothing on the other side except the stock plate.

Looks great, I will check on pics but I do not think I have pics of the other side.

Check the visual dictionary. It's just the stock plate that comes with the Kentucky rifle.

I still haven't found those pics I was looking for... I'm really wondering if it was on that roll of film that I had that got lost... (Don't ask... it still makes me mad )

The one side is plain...as shown in the Visual Dictionary - I remember that. The other side has that "thingy" on it. I'm not sure it had so much black on it... but I'm not positive what it looked like. I really think you could go with what you think looks good (and it does!).

The pictures that kimnchris posted of the real zam rifle were what I used to scale my parts. Here's a better picture.

I know there are different -fan made- incarnations of this rifle.
I have a large selection of pics from the original prop.
What I do NOT have is the time to draw up some plans to have the parts machined, NOR an idea where to get a complete set of conversion parts

I'd think it would be easy to look at a flint stock rifle and take it from there which is somthing i would consider for the rifle of Zam

wow - I was going to say I had some of those scope mounts left - but I see that it is handled. Those are really nice parts!!

anyway Markus, if you still need them, I think I have a couple of the scope mounts in a box somewhere that were not quite perfect. They might have an air bubble in them (I had a really hard time casting them), but I can bring them to Germany with me if you want them. How weird that I just sold a couple of them on ebay.

also - glad someone was able to make use of those pics finally. My rifle is still hanging on the wall where it has been ever since we got back from Comic-Con that year.
