Zam costume fading before and afters

Hi everyone!

Seattle Zam here, good to meet more of you at C5, that was intense!! Lots of fun. A special thanks to the guys at the booth who helped me pick things off the floor.

Anyway, we got to talking about the fading on my costume. This was troop day 34 and 35 for the costume, and I realized under those lights just how much some of the leather had faded from sunlight... from parades. Seriously. It's like I'm all pink pastel in a few spots, or blue mulberry. (oompa loompa time)

I heard this also happens if you put the costume under bright display lights. So over the next week, I'm going to be upgrading and fixing things, and I'll post pics here of the before and after of it, in case anyone is interested.

I'll also be thinning down the costume because the belt and vest got all poofy and made me look as thick as a potato. Still not sure why, but I will investigate.

Picture request -
If you have a specific pic you want to see, like the closeup of something or underside of something, speak now! I can shoot it for you while we're at it.

And once again thanks to all the people who helped me, especially when I started shedding bolts out of my shin guards again. :)

It was really good seeing you again at CV. I actually think that you should keep a *little* sun fading. It makes it look more authentic...like battle scars! :D I mean 35 troops!

Hey, good to see you too, and ZamIAm and all the other Zammers there. It was a Purple Reunion. :)

Don't worry, the suit distresses itself in a hurry. I'll just give it a nudge to get it started and it goes from there just fine. Thatirishgirl, you got pics of your full outfit? I'd love to see how your vest looks before I sew my new one.

It was great to finally meet you! And despite the wear and tear on the costume - I think it is fantastic! :D

I have that pic of you I need to send to you... I need to get it hosted somewhere first before it'll post here... *ugh* But the fading is not obvious at all in the picture....

Sorry we missed you MaulMaus. We wanted to meet you.

Deunan, I didn't think any of the sunfading on your costume was all that bad. It added to the weathering. I can get some pics of Emily's finished vest up, but its actually one of the parts we want to upgrade. I didn't quite get the shoulders right and there are some other inaccuracies as well.

Dang it.... there are so many people I missed catching up with! :( I didn't get to go to the TDH photo or dinner... Okay that does it... I guess I just have to go to another Con! LOL
