Vest Pattern

*laughs* No problem! Just offering ideas. Of course it wouldn't be as tube shaped being a vest, but it does have the lacing elements. :)

Only got a couple crummy pics of dying the vest but anyway:

I'll put our debut pics in another thread :)

HOLY monCAL ... can you believe it. I said I'd post pics of our vest harness last April and here it is only November

Oh well, better late than never plus it's proven it can stand up to some rigorous trooping!!!

In this next pic, I made a mold of the inside of a pvc endcap. I then punched a hole through it so I could slip the hose adapter through it. Then I poured resin so it is attached to the fitting. The hose slides snugly over the top of it and is the same for the resin armor greeblie.

Okay MonCal... that is an interesting contraption you got going there! ;)

Is that top clip used to support the front of the chest armor? The rest looks like support for the weight of all the armor... and the webbing to help prevent tearing in the front hoses (Like was evident on the real Zam).

You're a genius MonCal! ;) I had only thought as far as reinforcing the hose connector!

Thanks for sharing! :D :D

BTW: The colors on the vest look perfect to the FIDM exhibit... very faded and mottled!

Yeah, the clips are for the armor to support the weight which connect to the webbing around the waist. There is a section of elastic right at the small of the back inbetween the two shoulder straps. This is so when the vest is zipped up, the elastic is tight keeping everything in place.

The vest has faded a bit. In fact it seriously washed out in the belly area during our troop last week. Not sure why....sweat?? hmmm. She's worn the heck out of it including 3 eight hour days at C3.

I SO do not need to be altering Zam any more... I don't.... But..... I love that harness. I think I need one. Mine's suspended with velcro off the suspenders, and it's starting to wear out, plus it's not very stable.

MonCal... I was looking through this thread again, and wondered if you had any more problems with the dye fading out since you wrote the post in November? Did you seal the dye with a finish? It was "dye" and not paint that you used, right? Did you dye the cummerbund as well? Has it faded? Or just the vest, behind the armor? Thanks...

Julie... There is no such thing as a truly "finished" Zam! ;)
