By far, the very best of the best zam costume ever made !!! (off course, apart of the originals :p)...

Congratulations mate, you are a real beast !!! and a real inspiration for me ;)...

Amazing !

Wow, great photos Cal! Congratulations again! I must say I'm glad my category was separate, no way does my Padme costume even come close to your Zam in accuracy and the sheer amount of talent and skill put into it!

After making this costume for the 2nd time I've really learned a thing or two about lighting and how it affects colors. Kay-dee I bet you notice it with your purple gown. Kathy looked like a blueberry or something from willy wonka around most of the convention center.

Yes, over the years as I have been dying fabric for newer costumes I've really noticed how lighting can make a huge difference in the colors we see. So now when I custom dye things I view my swatches in fluorescent light, incandescent light, day light, and I photograph them with flash too before settling on the closest recipe. It's never going to be perfect. I've gotten over the fact that the colors on my Senate gown are off because that was back when I still bought the best pre-dyed substitute I could off the bolt. I only dyed my velvet and cording on that costume, and took the approach of just trying to use colors that looked good together. :) In the end it is only the die hard fans with a photographic memory that will ever catch that you don't have on the precisely correct shade of purple. The overall impression is what matters most.

It's an amazing costume as well... A lot of work went into that gown! You definitely deserved your award too Kay_Dee! You did an awesome job! (y) :D :D

Thanks everyone for the comments!! I really appreciate it. I haven't had much time to keep up with the forums these past few months but I'm really trying to catch up. Right now my main focus is getting everyone on this forum taken care of because I have the ..... ever lasting zam blaster project that just won't end .. ;) ... and also a few big zam kit orders for which I am doing everything in my power to get finished up.
