I am tempted to say it looks like some sort of pouch for holding a knife or even a Gerber multitool.
Hey yall, I will be posting progress pics soon of my 5 little greeblies and my interpretation from Dr. Maul's pics. If any one wants to critique them please, do so, I still have yet to sand some parts to get smoother effects. I need imput before I make a final cast. The leg greeblie will be done tonight and posted. Unfortunately, I already baked them, so all I can do is sand them down, but that is still something... unfortunately, I have yet to develop my website for a closer look. So, here are the ones from printroom.com
http://www.printroom.com/ViewAlbum.a...lbum_id=100232
I am Envyous now. Only thing I can see wrong so far is the football shaped one is missing soem of the dotting on it that I can see in the shots instead. look at the pictures and you may know what I mean. It may also be the color and light of your greeblie that makes me not see what I mean either. Other wise they are execllent.
your costume is really starting to take shape!
Great Work

I wish everyone had some sorta photo editor so that they can circle what they mean. I do have some mottled parts in the top section and the indented side L sections of the buckle/football greeblie." It might not have shown up in the pic, but there is a difference with the internal part next to the wing-like designs, there should be more overlaps but I didn't know how to do that clearly, cause that was my first greeblie. In hindsight, I shouldn't have baked half of them just yet. I got anxious. I was too scared they would get knocked over...
Oh about the leg greeblie. I noticed the 12" doll's leg greeblie is really different from the actual Aussie photo. I like the 12" doll version better. The one that is in the Aussie photo seriously makes me think the sculpter who made it has some problems.. Maybe the photo is just bad, but I only wish it was a knife holder.
Well the Leg Greeblie in the photo is exactly like the one in the Visual Dictionary. The doll one seems to fat and deformed.
Mostly finished the leg greeblie, what do you guys think. Check it out:

Hey Zam looking great! Nice hose connector and broach.
If anyone wanted some of these pieces made, let me know I love making nurnies in my spare time.
Paul

Oh oops sorrie guys, when I started this thread, the 5 little greeblies that I made were the three belt pieces and the arm band and the leg piece. I have almost cast them all, except for the bottle and the leg piece. I am waiting for DCB's pics, so that I can get more detailed shots before I put them in the oven![]()
The hose connector and broach, of course, were made by Paul.
The cresent moon+two pear shaped things were KnC's.
I want to give credit to where credit is due. Very, very, very nice pieces I might add.
The beads I bought from Ames-Christmas tree decor.
The shoes (with the perfect soles, but not uppers) were made by doll house footwear.
Ok, from dallas' pics, the leg greeblie is not phallic, so...I am sorry whichever lucas sculpter made the thing...(if yer out there) definately looks like a knife holder with lots of copper tarnished looking paint..
Just wanted to give you guys a taste of what my greeblies will look like, now that I have redone all except the football looking greeblie from dcb's pics. Please! Please! critique my work before I finally bake em. I am going for perfection here. When I get home, I will crop them against several of dcb's pics. (dcb, hope you don't mind) Too bad printroom doesn't allow you to zoom in larger, but take a look and comment please

And when will they be available to order and when can we expect to receive?
Thanks!
Thank you so much for posting these for me dcb!Version 2.0 is almost done. The football greeblie will be done as soon as I make it a little fatter up at the top. I realize the side belt "comp mouse" looking one needs some shaving off, cause it's too long, but only a sander can do that, cause that part was already baked. The top 1 mm layer on that one can be resculpted though, so if you have any critiques, i really need em. On any of them, Please ANYONE! Say SOMETHING about them! Thanks
Oh, about ordering, um... I am going to make sure that I get expert critiques first. Then I might do one batch on ebay. (Shameless plug) Sorry, but, I haven't finished them just yet. They are still at stage one, cause the version 1.0 was just so so, and believing in only my best for my fellow tdh'ers, thus version 2.0 is in progress. I will post when I can help people out with the greeblies. Right now, I am going for accuracy I know I need to fix three of the greebs, then I will be ready to bake and then mold, then cast. Patience, my young padawan! hehe j/k.
Wow those are sweet!!!! with the exception of the last pic (its a tad too long as you said) all of them look almost dead on to me.
I think they're coming along very nicely. I can see some very small differences with the two pics side by side but if they were painted and by themselves, I'd say they look really close!
Good job.
Cal
Moncal, PLEASE List the differences that you see! C'mon guys, now's your time to rag on my work, I mean constructively critisize..LOL you know what I mean. I need this to be as close as possible before molding. The more eyes the better. Cause, there are certain things paint can't fix.
Zam I Am ya got my opinions allready and funny you say Rag on your work.
they really look great! it was hard to find stuff to critique... but here are a few minor things....
![]()
Thanks! Now that is what I'm talking about! Thanks for the critiques dcb. Seriously, after I get done with these little stinkers, LFL is gonna think I stole em. LOL![]()
Come on now Zam I am We all figured out by now that you are just secretly takeing them from the LFL archive and makeing molds of them for all of usSeriously thought they are looking great and dallas seems to be saying close to the same things I have been.
Cool... thanks!!!

My comments for what they're worth... Though they all look absolutely terrific to me.
#1 - I think the rope like parts are a little longer in the original and that bottom section they connect to is a little further down.
#2 - Could be the lighting and/or lack of paint but the buttons appear to be more beveled than smooth in the original pic - hard to see how you did them on yours.
#5 - The top portion of the original "mouse" greeblie looks like it has some dimples to me.
that seems a bit critically nit-picky here. I can see what you mean when you pointed it out, but I don't see that as a problem. I think the pieces are beautiful as they are. You're sure working hard on this!
Keep it up!
yes- it is nit-picky and they ARE beautiful as is... but why not make them PERFECT
ZamIAm asked for critiques....
True! If it's not much trouble then go for it! I wasn;t really complaining on how they looked to begin with anyway though.![]()
Zam I Am wants perfection out of them so lets help her out. Just Like I want perfection outta the Cumberbun part of the skirt.
OH my mistake
I meant to say they're way off..not even close
to my 12" zam greeblies
Seriously though,
The things DCB mentioned were pretty much the same things I noticed. The only thing I'd add is the football piece looks like you need to grab yours in the middle and squish it a bit. The real one almost looks like that's what happened to it (to me anyway). It's a bit flatter in the middle portion on the edges horizontally in the pic. Anything more would be extremely anal, I mean going down to the way some of the lines were cut or the little dimples. Your leg / knife holder thingy looks a little wider on the top portion to me also but again, that's very picky and not something that would dissuade me from acquiring one.
Still, great work!
Cal
I agree pretty much with what everone else has said, except I think that the leg greeblie is just a little too wide and maybe a bit too short. Where it looks wide is the top "flap" and where it looks too short is the center section. It may just be because your "flap" is more rounded where it comes to a point than in the picture of the original.
And the band going across the center section looks a little thin compared to the original.
Over all it's really impressive work.![]()
Thanks yall for the critiques, that's what I really needed. Maulmaus, #2 buttons? are you talking about the bottle greeblie? I am not quite sure about what buttons you are talking about.
For the arm greeb, I might have to remake the whole thing, kinda like the football one, so, dunno if I'm gonna totally re-do that one cause most of it is already baked from version 1.0. But, I might. Hmm, I can cut the lower portion with an exacto... we'll see.
If you guys are in dire need, I already have version 1.0 molds for the arm, football, mouse greebs.I could have my hubby cast version 1.0 for some of ya. But, I seriously think version 2.0 will be tons more accurate. So if you wanna wait..
Version 1.0 ones that I have molds for are pictured here:

I noticed another thing. On the bottle.
The second wrap on the top of the bottle neck looks like it should be a little thicker / wider and have a slight crease / fold starting in the middle of the picture going to the right of the picture. Hope that makes sense.
I think I understand about the bottle greeb, I already made the u's on the bottom of the bottle a little higher, and put a second crease on the neck part. But it slants like this
.O// If ya know what I mean.
( )
Moncal-LOLhasbro zam!
I'm not even sure about this myself!
zam i am wrote:
Maulmaus, #2 buttons? are you talking about the bottle greeblie? I am not quite sure about what buttons you are talking about. It could just be the difference in lighting between your piece and the orginal (which is shinier). Looking at it again more closely I'm not sure there is a difference or not... I've highlighted the part I noticed.

Actually, I pushed the button on the right up a little, and kinda re-did the edges of the buttons so that it is separated a little more. Got it!I think you are right.
I think they're gonna be perfect when you get done! We're all going to be insanely jealous when we finally get to see the finished product!![]()
Status on my 5 greebs, I fixed almost everything that everyone said except I haven't shaved off the (mouse) belt piece down yet. I actually started another armpiece from scratch outta sculpey. More pics prolly this week. I will be asking everyone for one last critique. Hope yall don't mind. Thanks for really critiquing my stuff ya'll, it makes it look a lot closer to the real thing. Then I will be casting. Whew! According to a 5'6" Zam, my greeblie proportions are about 1 cm off by being on the larger side. The leg piece I think is 3 cm off, but you almost can't tell, it's still looks ok. So, I might make the leather strap a little thicker. Haven't done any leather work just yet.

I already pressed down the top part of the bottle greeblie so that it didn't stick up as much above the neck part. I am gonna cast pretty soon, but go on people BRING IT ON! hehe. I hope that I don't make it worse. I started getting tired last night and was making unnessesary cuts. My new tools have helped and hindered my greeblie making. Cant seem to find a tool thin enuff for crevaces. Taking a second look,Darn, I forgot to make the v point of the leg greeblie pointier. I was worried about it being too long. I actually cut 1 cm off the top part.I will be sure to do that before I bake. But any other suggestions? BTW, thanks for posting em Dallas!![]()
Do the dimples on the mouse need to be more pronounced? I cant tell on my screen.
Other than that the stuff looks fantastic!
looks wonderful!
But I think unfortunately all your greeblies are 10% smaller than the actual prop.
Just kidding! I know that would give you a heart attack if that were true! HA!
Looks beautfil! Can't wait to see them all finished and painted!
actually, all of them are 1cm too BIG! hehe. I already had that heart attack when I found out that the leg greeb was couple of centimeters off. I used someone'scardboard cut out as a reference. I will try to pronounce the dimples a bit more. LOL "DIMPLES"
edit:
***! I totally missed two major pics of the greebs because I put em in a separate folder under "bodysuit." sheesh, good thing I didn't bake em just yet. DCB, I didn't realize that you did take the side shots of the knife greeb. I can't believe I totally missed them.
I am trying to see if I can find some belt clips too for version 2.0, so that it's easier assembly. The whole set will cost more cause of the detail, extra materials, and extra parts for assembly. But they are definately Work in progress right now.
Truly great work Zam.
Better than any others that I have seen.
Greg
Tanks, couldn't do it without dcb's pics--he really has great peepers. Couldn't have asked for better pictures.
Looks good so far!
OUCH! casting version 2.0 greebs is a pain in the tookas! I am thinking it'll take at least a month for me to have these ready in kits. A couple have to have a double mold, and the mouse greeb's rope broke off in the mold, and had so many airbubbles cause of the way it sits in the molding material and because of all the little details in the greeb i put in. Those things are just waiting for airbubbles to collectdem rapscallions!
Edit, Sorry, but I spoke too soon, the mouse greeblie resin cast version 1.0 is not worth it because it took a lot of sanding damage. The molds were cut up to be used for the newer version 2.0. and I can't release my only original resin casts of version 1.0. Really sorry to those who were interested in version 1.0. They used to look like:
http://www.printroom.com/ViewAlbumPh...32&image_id=19
http://www.printroom.com/ViewAlbumPh...32&image_id=12
I'd be interested in seeing them!
Ryan
NICE!!! VERY VERY NICE!!!! I would absolutely love to buy a set when they are all ready!
GREAT pix!
RTV sure starts getting expensive when you get airbubble problems.
Edit**
Yay! All of them are casted. My hubby and I will be casting them this week in resin for people who want them. PM me if you are interested. I will be sending them out unpainted to the interested partiesYou can view them on the last pic at:

Cool! PM from MM!![]()
Can't wait to receive them![]()
Well, I decided to paint mine, but unfortunately, I can't give all of you the color schemes that went to each one, cause my husband painted them and didn't keep track. I can tell you this, we used testors acrylic (non-water soluable) paint.
Bottle : Purple, flat aluminum, yellow, gold
Football : flat aluminum+ blue, yellow+white, gold+yellow+??, gold dry brush
Arm: gold+black, ??, ??red
Leg: (Some kinda aqua green), brown, blue+red,
Mouse: flat aluminum+blue, red
Here's ours painted:

So much effort, but what an end result!! Great job!!
Hey those look terrific Zam i am... !!!!
Mucho kudos!![]()
Thanks, but technically, I can't take the all the credit...My husband painted them and casted them. I just sculpted them. If any one wants some greebs lemme know I could prolly help you out. But thanks for the chocolatey kudosYummy..
Very Very nice!
more Kudos to ya
Zam, those look spectacular. Just curious - did you use any sort of clear topcoat after you painted them, or did you just use the acrylic color?
Hey guys! I am very impressed with all of the hard work you have put into your costumes! Everything I have seen LOOKS GREAT!!!! I decided to start one of my own about a month ago. My first problem is...where to start. Second problem is where to get the materials to supply the first problem... =-)
Welcome,
It depends on if you want to start from scratch like me or buy up stuff and have other people do the work and you assemble...
I dont mind making them. But it really depends on the process and how accessable the materials are. I guess my fear is that they will turn out looking like a tragic ball of goo attached to my suit....
Well, I got brave and got some Sculpy. I played around with it last night and I have a question for you. What is the best way to measure how big these greeblies should be? I looked around on this forum and could not find where anyone had posted. By the way, I started on the one on her right hip by her holster. This should be an intersting journey!
I want to make sure I have my lists correct, if interested, please pm me again with the heading 5 greeblies, your address, your email addy, screen name and real name, and payment method (paypal by debit, western union, US check, moneyorder accepted.) And if you want to wait and combine shipping costs if you are on the neoprene run.
This is the 5 greebs that would be sent: http://www.zamiam.com/Greeblies_files/resincast3.jpg

gotcha, thanks forgot to update you on my spread sheet. You're listed on it now though.
Just to remember you that I'm still IN for the 5 greeblies.
P.S. and if you can... in the rest of the pieces you made (lower armor) as well.
