Interest in possible Zam rifle scope and greeblie.

Hi Guys,

After being approched by John and Beks to make thier Zam rifle scope and greeblies, I've been asked by other members if I can do the same for them.


The problem being is the time it takes to machine such complex angles etc, pushing the price high, and with the dollar being weak it makes it worse for you guys in the states.

So I considering producing a run of these in resin.

I would need a decent number of people to put thier names down to make this a realistic project.

Price wise would be approx £40 ( $80 ) and that would include the scope, scope holders, side greeblie and smaller greeblie.

Ive attached some pics of Beks parts, but Ive since made modifications to make them more accurate. (bigger scope ends for example)

I'm willing to go either way... Sure I'd like to save some $$$, but if there aren't enough people to make it worthwhile to make a run in resin, I'm willing go with the original version.

I just want greeblies and a scope!

we may be interested in this if the cost is right...just finished our rifle and our stuff looks pretty darn good as is but I never say no to an upgrade

Quick update.

Made the side greeblie. Ive done it in two parts for ease of casting.
It's in silicone now, so will do a test pull tomorrow.

Fingers crossed as it's got alot of radial detail, just hope theres not many air bubbles trapped.

Starting the scope today. 8)

Made a resin pull this morning, and it has come out really nice.

Scope is machined and I shall be covering it with silicone tomorrow. 8)

Need to make the small cylinder that goes next to the greeblie, and the quadrent section for the front of the greeblie and it's done.

what about doing up some scope mounts as well...to make the whole package complete? hate to have something look that nice and have mounts that are so so

as far as interest...waiting to hear the cost first....i know that you had the pieces for the molding already and im familiar with the cost of the supplies now that i did all my greeblies for the costume...so ill have to wait and see...if the price is right im most definatley in for a set

I didnt have the parts to mould already.

I made Johns/beks as a one off.

It was only because of members here contacting me about making them a set that I thought I can do it cheaper for everyone.
I bought the material and made the scope and greeblie from dimensions I worked out when making Johns/Beks.

I already have resin in stock here, but not silicone.

So basically, I have done all this work for you guys, as I will probably only just get back what Ive paid out in time and material.

glad you could do the work for us for sure dude! dont take my comment as saying that im trying to lower your return by no means! your stuff looks super and im so in for it if i can afford to do it...still working on gauntlets, hand guards and a few small issues for dcon...not sure if i can afford to upgrade my rifle as of yet....hopefully youll hang on to the molds for later runs if some of us cant get in on this one...

I am 100% interested in a resin set.
My Zam rifle has been sitting in it's display for 3-4 years now missing these parts!

Some bad news guys.

The moulds have been damaged and I'm not going to make more!

I managed to pull four side greeblies and four pairs of scopes.
Bits missing is the scope barrel and little side greeblie.

I will sell these on cheap, but because of the interest I will offer a full set in aluminium if I have enough people sign up.

So to recap..

Side greeblie and both end scopes = £15 ($30) P&P = ($12)

I would need at least 3 people to want the lot made in aluminium to make it worthwhile and easier.
The more people I get the cheaper it will be.

There would be two options with the scope too.
Solid, or hollow ( so you can see through it )

With 3 people interested it will cost $150
I will drop it $10 for every person after 3.

Shipping would be approx $20.

An extra $15 if you want the scope hollow.

Well... crud. *Calls dibs*

I'm interested in whatever you've got. Simple as that. My personal preference would be for the aluminum actually (hollow scope). But I also don't want to be left out with nothing... So can I claim a set of the cast greeblies? Then aluminum if there are enough people interested in that. Yeah, I know I'm playing both sides here...

not sure if this is a double post cuz something wasnt working the last time i posted...but anywho...im in for the scope and side mount in the aluminum...if i was to upgrade what i got id rather go with the aluminum version with a hollow scope

The darker areas on the scope ends are just polish dust, I didn't wanna give them a high polish as they look kinda weathered in ref pics.

Have you put lenses in those scopes?

For those that have ordered these, you'll love them. Ian is a nifty metalsmith, very meticulous and did Becky's for me. I'm very impressed as he's helped make the most stylish looking prop I've ever tinkered with. I'm very proud of it

looks like Jamie will be getting her rifle upgrade before dcon and even possibly getting her new aluminum blaster as well....she will be styling! when do you want the cash for these? and you still plan on doing the little igniter that goes on the side of the larger side greebly right? also, what did you use for a support bracket for the side mount? is there threaded holes in it for the ease of instalation or do we need to do that ourself?

I'll also supply a length of studding so you can cut it to your own length.

OK, well...... there all done.

As you might of guessed, I didn't manage to finish them before I moved house.

But Ive found the time I got them done.

This is what is in the kit.

I have supplied a enough studding to deal with different ways of maybe fitting to the gun.

I would suggest using a thread lock on the threads on both the scope ends and the studding into the greeblie. This will stop them unscrewing themselves.

I know you use imperial in the US.

Easy enough to drill the hole slightly larger and tap an imperial thread in it.
