Finally...My Mostly completed Zam Costume pics from D\'C

Hahaha! Will Dallas win the booby prize? He got most of em, but there are three things involve a part of a part that are missing... Hint, they all involve leather.

And No on the skirt,I think it just needs relacing...That's why it looks too short and won't flow (At least that is what i have to change before I succumb to your evil "thinner leather" suggestion...;)

Oh, and the pig suede for veil and hood, good luck on finding the right color. I tried nice soft pig suede that I got on a long trip, and too red. So, we tried redying it a similar purple,it came out way too dark and it bled colors like crazy. So then I tried dying it white then purple , ruined the suede. Then I tried chamois suede from ebingerbrothers, and dyed it white then purple=failure. Tried purple only, it came out brown. All the while intermixing solvent and red to try to get it lighter. So, hey I am sticking with my Joanne fabrics suede cloth :p I already asked a manufacturer what it would cost to dye a lot of hides, and how many hides=astronomically unforgiving in price and amount of hides. So, there you are...

Parts of the vest? Cumberbund? Front armor pieces? *scratches head* I dunno... The only ones I noticed were parts of the gauntlets and the back hose piece for the helmet.

Oh... and posted a couple pics of you on the main TDH D*C pics thread...

Here's another one...

Close.. part of the vest...is one of them... These three different minute things are on three different items, all leather. MaulMaus! Ya gotta remember, you helped me get dressed! Er, actually, I don't know if you'd remember..cause all of these things get hidden in the real costume, but I have pointed them out before. Let's see, Moncal knows one of them, I told him on the phone a long time ago, Dallas knows about all of them but didn't get them right off the bat, Anyone who helped me get dressed/undressed might be able to figure it out. Man, that sounds weird. :)lol: my zam friends dress me funny!) But if you stared at the pics long enuff, :wacko you might be able to get them. I think only Dallas and Moncal could get the last one on the list.
These pieces are not essentials because they are hidden, but still on the MOM costume.

I like that pic! ABOUT FACE! March! hehe.
The time is now 2:07 am... I can't sleep, making the costume for d'c really ruined me and my sleeping habits.

Geez Yvonne,
Way to put me on the spot ;)
I couldn't even get to D'con and I haven't been able to check the board for 2 weeks.
I'm working out of town (4 hours out) and am staying there so I can only check in once in a while.

O.K., I've stared at the pics longer than I can stand (not really) just...... it's late :D

I'll take a guess that it has something to do with the gloves. Perhaps, they're not long enough or don't have any velcro? ;)

Oh yeah, you need to re-stitch that 'dart' on the left (ahem) side of the vest

Speakin' of darts, shouldn't you have one sticking out of your NECK (a kamino one) ?

That's my educated guess :D If educated is what you could call us 'zammers'

BTW, the costume looks GREAT! Damn, I wish I could've made it out there!!!!!!!!!! Some day, I'll get to meet some of y'all...oh yes.....some day!!!

Yeh, exedge from the rpf~ Should'a had em before D'c, I was gonna shoot for the morbid "dart in neck, arm falling off, masked" but, dunno :confused He hasn't replied in three weeks and hasn't said a word about the dart project.

Wow, Moncal, you were up late too? LOL. And you noticed the dart? LOL actually, my seamstress said, only her and I would notice that one  You really got her on that one. I ain't gonna worry about it though ;) So, one of the "3" pieces has been named by Moncal, and the second guess about the dart~was a good one to fix, but not one of the three pieces I was talking about.

Moncal's guess ="winner winner chicken dinner!"~Basically, leather gloves extend beyond the wrist and have a velcro piece or sumthing to hold it together. This glove extention is so that the gloves don't come out of the gauntlets. Sorta like dishwasher gloves only velcro'd tighter... Gloves were definately custom.

Hehe...you said "butt pillow"

It actually took me a while to think about the gloves. I was staring at the pics wondering, what in the heck is she wanting us to point out? So I took a stab at the gloves cause I figured you didn't have time to modify them :D

As for the saber dart, I was in on the run of those too. I know he said August / September.....well, it's September and will be October real soon. I guess I'll add another failed investment to the list ;)

I was just kidding 'bout the breast-dart :D

It's going to be difficult for me to check in with you's guys cause I'm working about 4 hours out of town, staying there too and don't have very many amenities including internet access :( Hopefully I'll be able to at least once a week.

I was talking with wifey and we were wondering something about the skirt.
You mentioned maybe stitching it more loosely. What if you loosened the stitching in the middle and had it tight on the outside edges? That might give it more of a curved look.

Of course now I won't be able to check your answer for a week or so :(
Dang this real life stuff!!! ;)

Yeah, the top belt holding the skirt needs definately to have a wider gap between the the top most row, and also, the lace has to be a lot looser. If you look at her skirt, you can see the gaps. Mine is gap less, impeading it from flowing as well as it looking like it's too short because it's like a trapeziod rather than a rectangle going around my waist. Hers is a lot more rectangular than trapeziod-like mine.

So, the overall shape must be changed, but, I didn't count those in my other "2" things that need to be added ;) Hint hint, vest and shoes...And, there is nothing wrong with my skirt squares and it's not too short in reality. It's just laced bad and looks short due to the lacing. We'll see as soon as I relace it, which is a long time comming on my list of things to do.

Oh, Moncal PM me and answer the email that I sent everyone. Need to know... And, everyone else please check too. I only heard from 3 people.

ok OK, the answers are: 1)leather flap on the side of the vest where the eyelets are... My seamstress isn't going to include that, but for some reason, the MOM vest has one.2) The gloves have extra leather up top so that they don't bunch down from the gauntlets, and leather shoe uppers to make them into a boot. 3)My shoes were all painted purple, and besides the little brown strips and heel that I sewed on, there weren't any white leather uppers painted purp.

Nice weathering and battle-damage there ZIA! :D

Do you need more of the eyelets?

Actually, yeah, I do need more eyelets :) I will probably have time to look though, you said it was in the craft book section of Michaels? I lost 5 lbs on the atkins diet, and my vest is even more puffy in the back prob. Still gotta lose more weight before I take it in on the sides. I will probably gain back the weight tho, ugh, cause I didn't get to work out at all this week yet, and couldn't resist the cheese cake this morning after eating all protein and no carbs for two weeks. Trying to lose more weight so that I can feel like a young 23 year old ;) What size do you think leeanna is? My guess is like same size as stormtrooper princess.. It would be really nice to be a chic with a kickin lean bod :rolleyes ;) Too bad I cant go back to that college diet of oodles of noodles and walk around a campus all day. Stupid cellulite inducing cubicle job.

Oh about the eyelets, when you finally get the vest leather and the pattern, make sure you punch a holes through the leather before putting your eyelets in. And, make sure the holes are small or your eyelets may pop right off and not grab the material, thus wasting half of your eyelets. I did lotsa tests on some other eyelets I had, but man, i really ruined lots of the copper ones anyways. MaulMaus gave me like 50... You need 36, and I think I maybe have like 2 left. So you can see, you go through em quick.

MaulMaus we forgot to buy each other drinks! You're roomie's gatorade saved my life, so... I owe you and your roomie one!

Nope... didn't get them at Michael's. Found them at a scrapbook store clear on the other side of the Valley - like 25 miles from where I live! (The ONLY place I found them, mind you! ;) I looked in like 7-8 different stores and nobody else had the right size. However, you're in luck... I'm gonna go there next week anyway so I can pick up a whole bag of 100 for ya!

Anywone else want any? They're like $4.00 for the bag/100 or I can split one in half for anyone also.

We forgot drinks and pics!!! :( Erm... actually I bought the gatorade for my roomie Belle as she needed some the day before... so that's two you owe me kid! ;)

Congrats on the diet! (And 1 piece of cheesecake won't kill you! ) Yep ZIA I hear you on the good old college days!! I ate anything I wanted and didn't gain any weight.... though it probably helped walking around campus and driving back home (25 miles each way w/o Air Conditioning in the AZ heat - sure I smelled when I got home... but hey, I was skinny! ;) )
