Extra bit on Gaunt Guards?

I was just looking at the referance pictures on the net and noticed an extended section on her left gauntlet guard? It has a sort of ribbed black piece in it I didnt see it before and i cant find a close up picture - what is that? lol It seems to fit over the guard.

Ive noticed it on Kims costume also
