ATTN: all zam newbies- PLEASE READ!

Hi ) I was really happy to meet some of you at MEM last weekend... I am fortunate to have been bought my Zam for my birthday, but know the builder well and admire their expertise in the costume making area.
My other costumes are Ahsoka Tano (series 1) and Padme's corset gown. I am currently working on 2 other projects of my own and 3 for others. I am going to redo the helmet for Zam as it is a little small on me. I also will be making another neoprene top and recasting the greeblies.
Anyhoo....:O)
Speak to you all soon )x

Hello, all!
I am new here to these forums. I am an active member of the 501st Legion, Timberline Garrison, which patrols Montana and Idaho. Looking to possibly build a Zam Wesell for my wife, who is my spotter at events. She would like to get in on the fun also! So, thanks for all of the info that I see here! 4fb3dda685d8ea92f649df9139edf58f.jpg

That's a shame, Zam I Am. Your research and tutorial page is very, very useful for beginning Zam builders.

Yes, and there are lots of links all over that I don't know if they got/will get cleaned up. I am sorry folks, $80.00 a year to host, is way too much for me. I tried my best to help people out, but I can't continue paying when I have other priorities and bills. It will probably be gone by the end of the week unless someone wants to throw money my way like in the next 2 days. Or, they can save my research-- I had problems getting back into ftp protocols from my computer. I just can't remember how to do stuff to transfer sites to a free site, etc. My comp savy-ness, has waned with the influx of other priorities, and no - time. I am really really sorry. I tried to rebuild a site, but it took way too much time and effort. By the way, it will probably have to be cancelled by the end of the week today is 2/9/15.

Understandable.
Would it be an imposition to request a flattened jpg format of the research page? You laid it all out so nicely, I'd like to keep it handy. The idea is to post it for the BHG, & here in the DH community, in their Zam forum for new builders. I would make sure it is credited as your work. If not, again, understandable. Life is just complicated like that anymore.

Thanks for helping to lay the ground work. :)

I don't understand your request. Anyone can screen shot and save pages. I don't have the time to do that kind of filing and saving.

More or less, a polite request for permission. You know, so you don't get mad at a later date that someone filched your work. Yes, I could just take it. But I was trying to be polite.

Oh, thank you kind person, for asking so politely! Hadn't thought about that. (I am being sincere, and my previous post was said in a quizzical not brash fashion, but voice doesn't convey over computer text). Sigh... Gotta ask my hubby what to do. I really have been swamped. I tried my best to recreate my personal site and transfer all the info onto ZIA Costuming last year. Yeah I know, I know, currently the site is just on the costuming my family has done collectively, not specific to zam at all. Like I said I created it last year and have been swamped, couldn't update with the Zam info. But the ftp protocols are old from the service that I was using, and I was trying to retain some of the formats of the original, so that it would have been a quick transfer. Does anyone know if most free sites are too constrained by their own templates to even post entire original pages (they have links built in that I don't have the time to reformat to save--) ?

Ugh, spent 3 hours just to do this... But here you guys are:
I don't have time to post all the neoprene links or events.

Hi Tonks, welcome to TDH. You've come to the right place for a Zam costume!

First - look around this forum for information on how we made our costumes. A lot of the material (leather for instance) will be available locally. There is always more than one way to make any given item - that's where the creativity comes in. Organize what you want to get started on first - and begin there.

Second - some of our members do make some of the more complicated items like the greeblies, etc. You can contact them by private message on how payment and shipping.

Third - Get in contact with your local 501st group in Norway (I know they have one!) They can be an invaluable resource for helping make any Star Wars costume and probably know where to find some local resources for your Zam costume.

We're here to help where we can - and a lot of answers can also be found on the forum here (use the search feature for specific questions ).

Good luck! BTW I had the chance to visit Norway a few years ago - spent a week there. It was so green and beautiful, and other places still had glaciers in July - quite the contrast to Arizona!

Thank you so much for this! My daughter is really pumped about the possibility of being ZAM. I know it will take time, but hey, great things usually take hard work and dedication. It took 2 years for my TK. Im still looking for my first Boba parts etc LOL. Well, Im also putting the money together. Slowly but surely, I'll put it together. Thanks again!
