WIP: Jango Jet Pack

Excellent work. Keep up it up. What you using to help you do the mando writing?

Thank you Mandalorian guard, I ordered some decals from this post:

http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=21545&highlight=jet pack+decal

I am still worried about getting them on without tearing or messing them up. Once it is all weathered (lightly);), I want to use a clear-coat, but I am terrified of doing that because I have had some bad experiences with the "orange-peel" effect.

The paints I used are as follows:

White: Rustoleum 7797 Semi-Gloss White
Blue: Rustoleum 7727 Royal Blue
Red: Rustoleum 7765 Regal Red / Rustoleum 7762 Sunrise Red
Yellow: Testors Spray Paint Dark Yellow and Racing Orange
Black: Testors Gloss Black Enamel (Brushed on)

I figure if I use a Rustoleum brand clear coat, I should be fine... except for the yellow. I have a scrap piece of pvc painted yellow that I will test the clear coat on before I commit to spraying the JP. Wish me luck on that one.

Your pack turned out nice. For the yellow areas, I used the farm equipment yellow and then lightly dusted it with an orange. That gave me the desired/correct shade.

As for the weathering, try this... do a black wash then a brown wash. thin out your paints ( I used acrylics do to the ease of use for me ) so that they are really watery. Dab the wash in the recesses, then with a second ( dry ) brush carefully "flick" the wash downwards. Just remember that less is more as you can more easily add than take away.

I didn't use decals either... I hand painted all of the symbols.

Anybody know what the colours are for members in the uk?

I know the decals are different from Jango to Boba's. Also no damaged parts (scratches) on Jango to Boba. Jango does have his weathered though.

Are the colours different from Jango to Boba?

OK - So I think I am finished. Got the weathering done. It is difficult to get a good photo of the weathering, as the flash washes it out, and not using a flash looks like it is TOO dark:facepalm. I got the decals on, and I am quite happy with the final results.

A shot of the trap door. (Yeah, still gotta paint the back..)

The door is held on by magnets behind a couple of tabs. sits pretty and tight. More magnets, more hold... more weight:(.

Also a shot of the battery holder and switch for the beacon light.

Thanks !

I will get a photo of the beacon lit on the pack.

I just have to work around a number of other projects going on at this time. I just picked up a LEGO Ultimate Collector's Series Millenium Falcon, and daaaaaannnnnnng. That is a LOT of pieces:facepalm
