    Jul 26, 2014, 2:00 PM - weathering knee help pls #1

Need some help pls guys. Had a look all over for a tutorial on weathering jango knee armour but cant find one! All my other armour came pre weathered, ive had a look through 'general weathering' articles, but I want jango knee specific for that 'dirty look' and the way if accumulates in the corners etc! Any ideas or tips? Thanks in advance

use some acrylic craft paints. I like to use black, gray and burnt umber. Dab it on, let it dry a bit then wipe off. The effect will be more left in the low spots and it gives a nice weathered look.

That is the technique I have used on all of my armor. It is simple and can be redone if you mess up or easily add more if you want.

Would you mind posting some pics? Maybe nice to see a visual weathering. Thanks.

let me see if I can post a few of my old pics here in this thread..........

    first here are the tools...

then I mix the paints like this, although you don't have to mix them....

Then get the brush ready by dabbing it out a bit on the paper plate..........

Then dab the paint on the armor.......or in your case knees.

it is going to look messy at this point but don't worry..........

you can also tell in this pic that I have started to wipe down the left side a bit.

As you continue to wipe down the armor it will start to look layered. If you wipe with a dry cloth more paint will stay on, if you use a damp cloth more will come off. Don't worry if you take too much off you can always add more.....

here is another in progress pic....just take your time

And finally you end up like this....

The overall time from paint start to finish is probably about 10 minutes. The more you let it dry the more elbow grease you need to remove it, but sometimes that makes a bit of a better look.

On the knees make sure you kit the corners and crevasses which will hold more "dirt"....

    Hope this helps
