Tuskenfett jango build the long road to bh

Picked up a bucket from asok and with saintnasty's invaluable example I believe I should have a great jango on my hands

Started sanding down the cut seam so far I've burned about 1000 calories doing it by hand

yeah, I did my first one by hand and it took forever. On my second one I used a mouse sander for the 200-320-400 stages and then moved to hand sanding for the 800-1000 stuff. I never really got the seam done to my satisfaction by hand, but with the sander it was no problem at all.

Lookin good so far.

Still sanding down all the little lines and bumps but building the wifes scout and my tusken rifle is taking up some time

Keep going on that seam, it will go away I promise. The more difficult part of the seam for me was the little section at the bottom behind the ears. I hate finishing that part.

Goto walmart buy a mouse sander and thank us later....it makes all the difference and saves u time in the long run...i even used it with a microfiber towel to polish the Coldcast when I was done.

I will second the sander, you will have a better helmet because of it. You will reach the "good enough" mindset too soon with just hand sanding.

may I make a suggestion?

Don't cut out the visor or the rear slotted section untill you've completly sanded and prepped the helmet. This just help prevent the helmet from cracking in weak sections.

Little update I received the flightsuit and it's a navy blue one so I think I'm going to re-sell it since it's too dark and I don't think I can re-dye it but my wifes scout is all done and approved and after my mouse droid is done I'm goin full blast on the jango.

Westrooper - I'm not cutting anything else out until after I hit 800 grit

so i got down to the 400-1000 phase and i have alot of darker and lighter cold cast showing right now it looks like Michael jackson before he got bleached the more i sand the darker it gets is this normal? i took the very top of the bucket to 1000 and polished it and its shiny but dark. any ideas?

One of the things I have done at this stage is to go ahead and hit it with some "mothers" polish and see how even it really is. I have found that a lot of those apparently vast differences are greatly deminished when you hit it with polish. Then if it doesn't even out there is no harm you just go back to sanding.

those lighter spots usually start to show up around the 400 to 800 stage of sanding. i'm personally not a fan because if you look close in the lighter areas you'll probably see some pitting, they're usually very small but they bug me. so at this point i get the mouse sander out again and hit those areas with 220 and sand it down to the darker cold cast. you'll get a deep, even, and richer shine when you get past all the lighter stuff.

Ok I had a hard time finding the motorcycle all metal polish so I got some turtle wax all metal polish and it doesnt seem to be as mirrored as yours saint.?
