Trash Can Backplate

Until I can get a more screen accurate plate I've decided to make trashcan back armor. The back plate is a bit tricky but I found a can that has the right basic shape. It's more of a rectangular trash can which works better for the curve of the back.

- I took the template and cut out the plate on the trash can using the same 'score and break' method in the "Trash Can Armor" thread.
- Heat the plastic, wear gloves so you don't get burned, press it to the can and as it cools it will hold shape.
- The lower portion of the back does not need to be heated and shaped. The trashcan curve is perfect for this fit.
- I'm waiting to cut the holes for the harness until I get it shaped just right. That way I'll be able to ensure that the straps are in the correct place on my back.

Nicely done... nicely done!!

The back plate is the final piece for me, that I've still yet to do. I've been looking around for the right material, and you've just helped me out a ton!!

Thanks! :p

I had this same idea... And it was a toss up between this trashcan and The wastebasket with no top

I opted for the second one and I will see what results I get... over all for yours, nice job!!

Ok, I have Rub n' Buff'd and weathered up the back armor a bit. Now all that is left is to cut the harness groves and add a little more weathering paint around the edges.

awesome job man! i'd really recommend sanding your edges down though. speaking from experience with trash can armor, it'll tear through fabric, skin, wood, anything it gets those little teeth into. plus it has a nicer look overall :D
