TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense) 501st Approved!!!
I figured I'd start posting my WIP page...
Well, because of the economy and everything else, I am trying to keep costs low and what not. I will also be posting pictures as I go.
First the items I have: most of the costlier items were obtained through pawning off of my goods on Fleabay (6800 GT vid. card, Tungsten E2 Palm, etc...) The rest were from giving my wife puppydog eyes and living with the recourse of her giving me heck for having a strange hobby, lol ;)
Flightsuit - RedKap PB coveralls
Gloves - Target ladies accessories section
Vest - pleather from [AK]Edge
Holsters - from [AK]Edge
Ammo Belt - from thundrkiss
Chest Armor - Trashcan Fett!!!
Blasters - Rubies at the moment, but I found a way to make some :)
Knee Armor - PVC pipe (at least trying to do it ;) )
Still need Gauntlets, Helmet, Girth Belt, Boots, and Leg Armor... I was hoping to get the helmet from Rupidupe, but alas Sithchick got it, congrats to her! :) But hey if anyone knows where I can get some of these items that would be most excellent :) :jango

Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness
Also, if anyone knows the BEST and EASIEST way to add the short sleeves to the coveralls, I have been pondering how... I have seen some responses elsewhere in the forum, but haven't heard what is the easiest and who has tried what.

Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness
If the sleeves are long enough you can just tuck some material in around the arm and stitch around making a cuff. If they aren't long enough you could cut the sleeves off where you have enough material to fold under to make the cuff. Then you cut off the sleeves off another set of coveralls and catch the new sleeve material in the stitches that you do to make the cuff. I hope that all makes sense.
-
Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness
actually, that was what I came up with through my pondering... I thought I could make a hem since the sleeves will be under gauntlets anyways... but having two sleeves looks more authentic.
Thanks for the ideas :)

Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness
Got a girth belt on Fleabay... hopefully it is the right size :)
Still need Gauntlets, Helmet (maybe one from Sithchick :) ), Boots, and Leg Armor & Cod
How hard is it to convert Boba Gauntlets to Jango?
-
Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness
Cruzer ya man for Jango gauntlets
-
Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness
Thanks... Yeah I see that he seems to know what he is doing with the Jango gauntlets :) but alas I think he is focusing on leg armor and small westar runs now :(
Is there any others and the cheaper the better of course :)
Thanks for the info though,
Tony

Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness
Sithchick said Sarge is going to pass his helmet along to me, yay! I am getting closer...
All that's left:
Leg armor, cod piece, boots, backplate, rocket pack, gauntlets
(below is Sarge's old helmet... it is a Bradley Fett... doesn't look too bad ;) )

How would these work for boots? I thought about filling in the edge on the soles a little with some rubber compound.

Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness
Here are some shots with the gear on... granted the girth is too small (I have that hidden in the back ;) ) I also have the girth in the cargo hold for sale.
Tell me what you think and what needs improvement... I know the vest needs taken in a little (it is an XL)
-
Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness
Dude let em know when You get my helmet. Should be tomorrow.
-
Re: TLobe00s Jango-esqueness (getting pic intense)
Sweet, I'll be anxious to get home from work tomorrow :)
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Got the helmet... not too shabby... gotta get pictures of everything put together.
Thanks again Sarge. :)
Tony
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
that is starting to come together bro. Cant wait for the helmet pics.
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Oh yeah, forgot about girth belt... I have one of those now too... the problem is the size.
Here are the details of it.
http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=28984
So that means I still need:
Leg armor
cod piece
backplate
rocket pack
gauntlets
So if anyone has any extras laying around, or knows of anyone, PM me and hopefully I can get this bad boy done soon :)
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Looks good.
What rocket pack did you plan on doing stubby or regular?
My other question is are you going for movie accuracy?
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
going for 501st approval, and I am sure I will upgrade to get to movie accuracy... as for the rocket pack, I want to find the cheapest possible route to start with, and then move from there.

Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
I planned on doing the regular jet pack since these seem somewhat easy to scratchbuild from the WoF templates.

Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Tony looks good so far! Where in Ohio are you from?Jeff

i've been thinking along the same lines, unfortunately i'm not as talented as some of the guy's on here to do a conversion so i think i'll take the easy route and wait till some one does a gauntlet run..but if you do decide to do it please post some progress pics..

Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
I found someone who does vac-formed Gauntlets, bradley fett, he is reasonably priced as well :)
I am from the Dayton area.
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
hello there!
not to nit pick, but:
i) Vest shoulders seem a tad too broad for ya,
ii) chest armor needs to be more 'V-shped'. currently looks too square.
else, Love the general look n colour. sweeeeet
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Ok, thanks for the answers.
You'll have to tell me how the jet pack works out because that's what I'm currently debating on.
Also have fun with it :D
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Hey nit pick away, doesn't mean I need to listen to ya ;) j/k... yeah I know the vest is too broad, it is an XL and I am a M, so I am gonna try to take it in a little to fit better.
As for the chest armor... I started heating and bending it to curve better and it looks better, so now I just need to replace with snaps instead of velcro so it sits better on my chest.
Thanks for the input :)

Nice job. Thanks for posting your build thread... It's helping me along in my build.

Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Looking good mate. Now bite the bullet and dye that jumpsuit! I finally did and I like it much better.
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
I just ordered another jumpsuit (to add the second sleeves)... so once everything is put together I will try dyeing it a little more purple :)... luckily I will have some extra material (the legs from the second suit) to try a formula first :) I also have to get my new vest done since this one was a first attempt.
Thanks for the kind words too
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Hey Rup... what color dye did you use? I want to make it is a shade or so purpler, but I don't want to get too purple.

Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Looking real good Tony. Hows the new vest you got working out?
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
I'm surprised no one has commented on how tall our local Vader is :)
Hey Chuck, the vest is working out pretty good, I could finally get the chest armor pieces a little closer... albeit a little too close, but I am short and those pieces were made by someone 6'2" I believe, lol.
Got my jet pack coming soon too :)
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
I was going to say either your short or that Vader is Ginormous. Chest pieces do look alittle big but it fits your frame.
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
maybe a little of both, uncostumed our Vader is 6'8" and I am 5'6" so there is over a foot difference, lol.
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
Holy **** thas a big dude.

Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
yeah, it looks awesome when Vader towers over everyone... we walked into an event uncostumed and the coordinator said "You must be Vader."
He was pictured in the Star Wars Insider this month too, for the kidney transplant story in Bantha Tracks.

I here you on the chest armor sizing issue. I'm 5'8", and had to do some serious re-sizing for my armor to fit my body properly. Luckily, all of my armor I made myself, so it wasn't difficult at all... once I figured out the size I needed.
Looking good, you're almost there!
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
How do you keep the hoses in your sleeves?
-
Re: TLobe00s Progress (getting pic intense)
The end of the hoses are attached to a parachute clip (the plastic type like on backpacks and whatnot) and the other end is attached to the long sleeve under the short sleeve by means of a Tandy line 24 snap (some people sew them also)
I'll take some pics of the attachment tonight and post them
