Three year checkup

Well, I have once again begun work on my Jango, and I noticed my last post was 3 years ago!!! Can't believe it's been that long. Anyway, got a few progress pics. Got the gauntlets done, minus the weathering. I am assuming you have to line them with some type of padding to keep them from twisting on your arm? The weight of the flame thrower really wants to make the left gauntlet twist downward. I still want to make fins for the grappling dart.

Once the hoses are attached the gauntlets tend to stay in place fairly well. I use parachute clips on the end of the hoses attached to the flight suit in the double sleeve. This stabilizes the gauntlets and keeps them from spinning.

My gauntlets slipped around, too. I just unrolled and stuck foam pipe insulation around the lips. It gives a good padding and makes the gauntlets looked "sealed." I got the idea from this guy's Havoc build:

Not much more done yet. Snaps installed on upper armor, but not on the vest yet. Also made some fins for the grappling dart, but they are too big. I have to trim them down some.

Ok, so I attached my shoulder armor. But didn't want to start punching holes in my vest without checking placement of the restof the armor. Advice on positioning? I think the ab plate sits too close to the girth belt, but I'm afraid that if I move it up, it will rub against the chest plates. Keep in mind the plates are only attached with velcro right now.

works now. I would say the armor looks about right as far as spacing. You may try to move the girth belt lower on the hips to help with the spacing.

But with that said it helps to see more of you when judging spacing. Being able to see your legs to your head help the viewer to get a better judgement of how it all interacts.

Got it. I'll post another full pose tomorrow. With that, does your girth belt sit above your hips, or right on them? Seems like it is in the way of natural movement if I move it lower.

I usually have mine tied off in such a way that the lower edge is starting to flare just a bit on my hip bones. It is not a lot but it gets in low enough to cover the parts of the cod that need covered and help with the spacing. I am blessed to have a fairly proportional body so it works well on my frame.

It does not really impede movement because I already can't sit or bend over.........so there is no range of motion to impede.

Ok, so armor is attached to vest. Couldn't stand it any longer! I think some of the pieces need to be heated and bent so they will lay flat against me. The collar piece and the ab piece in particular. I just have no idea how these things are going to react to being heated and bent. It's cruzer cc. Suggestions?

The vest is second hand BM, and had larger armor pieces attached previously, that's why the extra creases around the armor. Tried to get them out as best I could, but they wouldn't go away completely. Perhaps when I weather it all, they will be camouflaged.

Here is the flight suit. Also a second hand BM. Not sure if I need to fade it or add some purple to the color. A side note... sometimes I think my duck tape mannequin wears my costumes better than me.

I am not seeing anything there that I would mess with yet. I would wait till final fit and finish before trying to adjust what you are pointing out.

Spacing and such are looking good. You are on your way.

Hey, so quick question... How do you all attach your ammo belt in the back? I know a lot connect it to the girth belt, which I intend to do, but how do you close the ammo belt? Velcro? If velcro, how are you attaching it to the leather?

Really?? It holds on leather? I wouldn't have thought that. Figured I would have to use something much stronger. Easy enough.

I helped Mullreel suit up in his Jango once and I was quite surprised and impressed with how well the industrial Velcro worked with the leather. You could always see about having it stitched in once you get the placement down if you felt like doing so.
