Helmet There is no Antrock helmet

The so-called "Antrock helmet" is actually my helmet re-cast by Antrock. About a year ago, I let him pull a set of molds from my origionals. He had no part in it's construction. He wasn't even around when the origional model was built, only to pull a copy of the mold. After Ep. II, there was a flood of demand for these, and I was a little overwealmed. I let Antrock run a duplicate set of molds of my helmet AND armor, to ease the burden. I just wanted to clear things up, cause I'm getting tired of explaining it in pm's. I'm not trying to incinuate that he's claiming it's his own work or anything, just trying to correct the misunderstandings. :)

Thanks for clearing that up. I own one of your helmets but bought it from Antrock and I was unsure if Antrock himself had made it. I knew that both of you were involved in it somehow, but the details were not made clear.

Thanks for clearing that up, JD. Until recently, I too was led to believe (mostly by rumors, old posts, and assumptions) that there was an "Antrock helmet" out there.

I think it's important for all of us to be aware of where proper credit is due, and I'm glad you came forward with details of the helmet's true origins!

I already ordered one from Antrock last week... I would have ordered from you instead if I'd known!.. but now I'll know who to credit with the actual mold design.

Can you state for the record what the actual mods of the "Dwedd" bucket are? I know it's more than just a DP 95 recast but could you be more specific?

Thanks.

Well, I think mods aren't the right word. I took a fiberglass copy of the DP '95 dome only, and reshaped it. Once I was happy with the dome, the rest was built completely anew around it, using JANGO photos from SW Insider and Vanity Fair. All the details and shape were created using these photos for referance. The finished helmet actually ended up being a bit larger than the DP.

Here's a pic of one I finished.

If you have a DP, compare for yourself. Hope this helps. :)

I don't suppose you could post a comparison pic to show the differences, eh? Some things to watch for:

>Jango's keyslot area is a bit deeper and higher off the bottom.

>The raised blue areas behind the ears of Jango are also higher off the bottom than the red ones of Boba.

>In a profile view, you can see the back of a Jango helmet is straighter and flairs out slightly. Bobas has a soft, inward curve toward the bottom.

>When looking at A Jango helmet from the back, both sets of ears are visible. DP helmets must be wider in back or something, cause it seems you can't see both ears at the same time.

>Jango has no borden connector on the cheek.

There are pics of both my DP95 and JD helmet next to a MSH2 in the MSH2 comp pics thread.

Nice shots. To me, it doesn't look any bigger than the DP '95. :confused I was told by a few other members, who had both, that it was a little bigger than the '95.
Oh well, :facepalm I stand corrected

Thanks for the lead. :)

Ok, I now understand how this helmet is "slightly bigger" than a DP '95. The additional flair(back + sides) makes the opening quite a bit larger than the DP. All I know, is that it's perfectly proportioned for ME! (5' 10")
That's all I was concerned with when it was being built. :)

I'm in the process of constructing a JD helmet myself. I like it alot better than the '95 DP I had. The only thing I have noticed for me at least is the way I have to put it on. I have to do a 15 or 20 degree twist to put it on, I think my head is big for some reason. LOL

Maybe there's hope for me after all. I had to do the exact same twist to get my recast on but my regular DP95 arrives this week and I'm hoping she'll fit.
