Solo's OS Jango Build

Thanks for the tip. If I remember correctly, I think you used pewter RnB on yours to get the armor a little darker. I think I will either do that or mix up some blackwash to apply as weathering over the silver areas to darken them. I am not exactly sure how to address the bluish finish though. I believe Kivas actually painted his set as opposed to Rub n Buff to get the effect.

What I liked more than anything was the way you incorporated blue into your jetpack.

I've been trying to figure out how to get that metallic blue applied to the rocket and cones like you had as well as the entire finish you had on the body of your pack. Did you RnB the entire pack or was it paint and weathering? I seem to recall reading that you had a special mix of RnB to come up with the blue on the pack but I haven't been able to find those colors.

The jetpack was all paints, a charcoal grey and blue metallic of the same brand as the electric red. The armor was a combo of pewter, black, and one of their blues (can't remember off the top of my head), but the black was very goopy and kept the mixture from smoothing out and polishing up in some areas. You could try misting the armor if you wanted, but it also looks really good how it is now. (y)

I don't think I will be going the darker armor route, as this is also my EPII Jango armor (with the shoulder bells as exceptions) so mine will be a little lighter... but I can live with that, lol... Yeah, I'll start my WIP Thread soon too, but you are on your way nicely man!

Just a heads up.. this is a great tutorial for the holster D-ring buckle belt thingy...

Built one in a matter of 20 minutes or less. Just need to polish it off.

Finally completed the build for 501st approval. There are a couple of fitment things I want to take care of but it actaully wore fairly comfortable with the exception of 1 or 2 things. I trooped in it for about 4+ hours yesterday with no "wardrobe malfuncations"... :)

Please offer suggestions on any adjustments or fixes. I know you guys will see anything that will be out of whack that I've missed.

Oh... and please ignore the Rubies blasters, the resin ones I ordered weren't delivered in time! Thanks!

The pictures don't really do a good job showing the weathering I did to it. I applied blackwash, scuffed, scraped, and sanded for about two hours. The final version is much less bright than the original but I may try to apply blackwash again that is less watered down.

Looks good.
What colors did you use for the jet pack?
Where did you finally get the cones you were looking for? The cones I'm making still aren't ready.

I know it's not wise to use different paint manufacturer's product on the same project but in this case it happened to work. I used Krylon Metallic aluminum for the base and used a Rustoleum Charcoal Grey Metallic for the outter coat. I can get the specific color numbers for you if you want. When I wet sanded the corners for weathering, the aluminum came through giving it a more real look.

For the arena cones, I used Dubro spinners (what Cruzer used for his). I bought the 3 inch version and cut them about half way down. I'll probably switch over to a true arena cone when they become available but these worked pretty good as an alternative.
