So..who would be interested in a new Jango helmet?

Ive been throwing this idea out for awhile. Im not promising or even really 100% sure if I will even try this or not.

Since most newer jango costumers now find themselves either having to modify a boba helmet, scratch build, or just wait until a previously owned helmet springs up either in the cargo hold or even ebay, I think it would be good for those seeking one, that there should be a reliable source.

With the well deserved retirement of BKBT, there hasnt been much in the way of any new makers. To cut to the chase-I am seriously thinking about making my own jango helmet sculpt, with the help of another member, IrishFett.

What I am thinking is, to make it much like the ILM cast, but only a bit larger. However, that is all pending final approval and what not.

Just trying to guage interest. Im still new to the whole sculpting thing, but I feel that something like this is not too much of a stretch with a bit more practice.

Any thoughts? opinions? If anything comes of this, it will not be for awhile however. Thanks

Opinions:
From what I have paid attention to there is a demand for Mando helmets by builders to customize. So offering a Jango helmet might be in line to what the builders are looking for.
There is another member offering Jango helmets but from what I have read at another thread there seems to be a misunderstanding with them and another member here as to the orginals of the helmet mold(if I read right) so you need to make sure you dont end up like this has turn into be.
Are you going to offer painting services as well??Staying in lines as my opinion, take it slow and build your way up.Dont stretch your self out to thin.
My final opinion is that you are a talented and honest person whom has the passion to make a very good product to offer this community. You care about the detail and make sure your projects are prefect(case in point:Darktrooper) to being screen accurate.I dont feel or sense that you would decieve anyone with your intentions or be one of those in a long line of folks who are in it for only the money and dont care about the quality of the product they put out.
Input/Suggestion:
Offer helmets at different price level.Maybe two or three levels...Untrimed(right out of the mold),trimmed(ready for sanding and painting) and complete. You might get some customers that dont want to have to take a Jango helmet then customize to suit their need. They would prefer a unfinished helmet and dont mind doing extra work(hint...hint).A little grinding here and little filler here.If you know what I mean.
Document and document some more of everything you do for a customer.Basically CYA every step of the process of the sell of a helmet.
Consider putting some sort of marking to "id" your helmet from others to try to keep the "recasters" in line.

Well thats it and all I can think of other than let me know when and if you get going with this so I can send you my order.Shoot me a pm.
Take care and many blessing that this goes the way you want it to

Wow, thank you so much LOPERO for your kind words and your opinions! lol I dont think anything I make is perfect-the few things I have made

My intentions for this is for the exact reason I made this thread-I feel there needs to be a Jango helmet readily available to those in need, and that is my only reason for doing this. Money is NOT a factor.

For the ideas concerning how to offer the helmets up, that can be considered as well, however, *hypothetically speaking* If I were to offer painting services, I'd do a limited number of them at a single time, just because I know I'd be overwhelmed, and I dont want to lose quality over quantitiy.

Lets just see what happens I guess. There may be some major developments in the near future, but I cant say yet for sure.

As I've posted in another thread, having the dented variant as an option would be nice. Also, if possible, I'd really like to have one that's 1:1 scale. I'm not the biggest guy and don't want to swim in a helmet. Perhaps having different scaled options? Beyond that I don't have any suggestions.

It would be nice to have the option between a screen-sized helmet (which is slightly smaller than a BKBT helmet), and a helmet about the size of a BKBT. That way there are two options available for smaller heads/builds and larger heads/builds.(y)

I am interested in a jango helmet, have been looking for a kit for some time. I have been practicing on a rubies helment waiting for some to pop up here or ebay. When you get them up and running let me know. I've sent messages to sgt. fang but it looks like he hasn't been on in a while.

Well as far as the size options, I was thinking of making the helmet sized just between that of an ILM and a BKBT. As for making various sized helmets? I will see what we can do when the time comes.

I was also thinking about making the dented varient as well!

Thanks everyone for their input and suggestions!

Personally, I do not like the few asymetry issues the screen-cast bucket has:facepalm. And this is nothing against any of the makers who make copies of this helmet. I'm just a "give me something that is symetrical" kind of guy. I've actually got a screen-cast helmet sitting in my garage that with an extra $100 I can have the rights to cast. However, I would almost prefer to make a symetrical version with similar dimensions because the asymety bothers me so much. :rolleyes:D

What symmetry issues? I don't seem to have symmetry issues with my FP CC helmet. At least nothing really noticeable...and its going to be hard to make it perfectly symmetrical by hand anyway. So I'd say leave it alone.

On the helmet I have from the Australian maker, which is the only supplier of the screen-cast helmet that I'm aware of, the back of the dome and along the back on one side is warped, the keys are offset by about 3/16", and one mandible is about 1/16"-1/8" longer than the other.(y)

You're right, it would be too much work to try and make those corrections on an already existing helmet. I was suggesting that it would be better in my opinion to make a new build that is of similar dimensions.

However, I know there are many people here who would prefer a copy of a possible screen-used helmet with a few symetry issues, over an altered fan-made replica.:)

If I ever got another screen-cast helmet, I'd want one with a dent in it for an arena version ;)
Agreed! It would be cool to have that version in a screen-cast sizing.(y) I think BKBT did a superb job offering that version, and hope that some day we'll see them made available again.(y)

Tubachris85x, sorry if we hijacked your thread, bro!

A reliable source for Jango Helmet or mando variation helmets would be great here.

Tubachris85x - Have you asked BKBT or any retired helmet makers for there templates?

Hmm, the ILM has asymetrical issues? I havent taken a ruler to it, but the two that I have right now, only have small differences, which I believe are caused by whoever was casting them. Its quite possible that these issues were caused by possible mold flexing or the like. Or I might be crazy! lol Then again, while I love symetry as much as huminly possible, its very hard to accomplish.

As far as accuracy however, I wouldnt mind owning an ILM cast for my personal collection, just for the fact that it has direct roots to the screen used piece. I mean, afterall, the prop makers are trying to replicate something that has become available to the general public that we can say for a fact has direct roots to the movie molds, unlike the Boba mystery helmet, where that is still not 100% proven or still in debate about it's true origins.

MaldorianGuard- in regards to asking the propmakers-I cannot comment yet on anything at this time. Whatever the retired propmakers decide to do with their patterns and molds is up to them. We can only hope for the best, and that someone will be able to continue their "Legacy" on TDH ;)

Hey Tuba, There is definitely a need for a new maker, definitely an interest here.

I think it's your time to step up. What ever you decide to produce will greatly be appreciated.
