Hey folks,
I have hunted and searched and maybe overlooked this, but is Jangos Visor black or dark green?
I apologize if I missed this somewhere.
Thanks ahead of time. :thumbsup

I think most people go with dark green as its easy to find dark green welding visors. The darkgreen is also a bit easier to see through in my experience(which is limited). As far as accuracy goes I am non too sure but dark green often looks like black when there is a head shoved in the bucket :D
It is dark blue or black. I think I may have found something that will work. It is on order and I will post info once it gets in.
Asok, the man, always coming through. Thanks buddy, keep in touch :thumbsup
Seeing that I am also working on, what I hope to be my last Jango helmet, I need to find this stuff also. Then once I find it, letting all my friends know. :D
OOOHHHH yes, Inquiring minds want to know what you come up with!
What you up to asok? Spill the beans man!
Inquiring mind here would also like to know the outcome asok. I didnt like the looks of the green visors I saw in some shops around me.
There is a welding supply place in town that has the normal green stuff. That will work great for my Boba. They looked and ordered me a shield that is "Smoked Gray" Not sure what that means, so I ordered one. It should be here in about a week.
Just got a call and the face shield is in and they say it is dark and not green! So, I just wanted to tease you a bit. :lol I am hoping to have some sort of pics up later tonight.
Oh, you will have to show me this man. It would be nice not to have a green one!
Oh Asok, you tease! Thanks for heading this up bro! :thumbsup
oh yea - dibs since its my thread right? ;)
As WhiteArmor can tell you, I think it is a little to light. I will post pic on Friday, that way I can get it in the daylight.
I think it is a little light and it has a slight green tint.
ahhh. man....any other leads Bill?
Yes, the sheild ended up being too light sadly. I remember seeing in an old car magazine this spray on tint stuff. It is supposed to be used for tinting tail lights on cars. So I am going to look around and see if this product is still avalible and see about getting a can to try out.
I looked into this also. I found a link that sells it pretty cheap. There are also some on the 'bay if you search under spray tint that show pics of what it looks like on some cars. I was going to see if I could find some around town so I didnt have to order it to let you guys know how it works... here is the link to the one I found on the net..

Cool, I will check the local auto parts stores as well before i resort to ording a can. Hopefully this will work out, but how knows.
Still working on finding some spray timt around here w/o ordering but I did stumble on an alternative Im going to try.
My fiance' works for a large eye care center. Well she just happen to mention while I was looking in a store for spray tint that they have a large tint machine that tints glass and plastic. She said it is large enough to do a T-visor so Im gonna have her ask what it cost, if any, and have here work one up on a clear visor. Keep your fingers crossed cause this may work out great!
Camblin
I just dropped a clear visor in a bucket of black tint. The same idea that Camblin has.
The spray on tint looks good but you need the patience to apply several light coats and leaving half a day in between for it to dry... the only danger is that if you do one too many coats, it becomes somewhat opaque - I wasted a visor by rushing :b
Over night. I pulled it out after a few hours and it had started tinting. Now I am just playing the http://www.invision.smileyville.net/...20%2845%29.gif game.
Well, I pulled it out this morning and it is purple and not black. :doh I will let it go for a few more hours. Next I will try a blue tint. I just need to get another shield. Not sure when that will be.
I wish I would have paid more attention to your "black dying" post Asok. I could have told you it was going to be purply/blue...my bad. I am hunting for black as well.....
No worries. It would work great for a custom.
I just pulled it out and it is a purple/rose color. I will try blue next. Maybe it will turn out green.
I don't think you guys are gonna find a true black... Most likely the darkest/'blackest' tint will be smoke (Rembrandt/T-Visor sells a nice smoke one), or the blue/purple type that BM sells. I know that when shopping for fabric dyes, they all have a seperate color for the base. Like when a black t-shirt gets old and faded, it has either a brownish red tint for a red base, a greenish tint for green base, and so forth. The ones that look the most 'black' when they fade are the blue based ones, imo. Not sure if the dye that you are using for the visors follows the same pattern or not, but its just something that I've noticed that seems to be in accord with each other.
This is a BM visor from the outside:

And this is a Rembrandt/T-Visor from the outside:

I have a new clear visor and some blue dye. Will post pics in a few days.
I just came across this thread by chance. I'm not informed on Jango at all, but I have to ask Asok and the others- Why won't a BM or T-visor shield work for your Jango Costumes? All the pictures I've ever seen of Jango the T-visor looks the same as Boba's- Black. Anyone care to explain this to me?
Take Care,
Phil
Any visor will work. The real thing was blue or black. I know the 2 people who put together the C2 Jango and I just need to ask what color is it.
Anybody want to guess what color the blue dye turned my next clear visor?
blue? purple?
Purple! :?
So, as a recap:
Black dye = rose tint
blue dye = purple tint
I have a small visor that I am going to cut up and try brown next. Any other color ideas?
How blue does it need to be? I have found some blue window tint on ebay. (so-so IMO) I also found this:

I personally don't want to use a spray or tint. The risk of me messing it up it very high. Also, I just cut out my purple visor and it makes it blurry.
Has anyone used something like a snowmobile helmet visor? I see them in the local shops that sell those kinds of sporting equipment. There are different types, but there is a version that is flat (meaning only curved in one direction, side to side) and probably long enough top to bottom to get the whole T out of. They also come in different colours - dark grey, clear, and a couple others.
what about those clear desk protectors with an automotive privacy tint on it???by the way gypsyboy, you are makin' us canadians look bad still talking about snowmobile hemets in july LOL...:lol
just kidding......;)EH!!
LOL Hey, just remember... Alaska is part of the USA and they probably have more snowmobiles than just about anywhere else. I suppose now is the wrong time of year to be looking for s'bile visors, but it seems to me Canadian Tire sells generic visors of that type all year round. I *think* they're actually high enough top to bottom, but I haven't had the opportunity to verify that.
