WOOHOO!!!! Got my Fiberglass Knee and Instep Armor today!! Its fantastic!!!! :)

Tips are certainly welcome on trimming/sanding:)

Do I need a filter mask or a dust mask for sanding/working with fiberglass??

I read about using a fan blowing from behind:)

this is sage advice from EXPERIENCE...if you don't follow any of these , you WILL be sorry :

1. wear a PROFESSIONAL grade mask ($40-50 kind). Fine shards of glass are easily breathable and is carcinogenic.

2. Take baby powder and cover all your skin exposed areas when cutting, or sanding with glass. That way, you cover your pores with baby powder and prevent glass from getting in...in other words, you won't get the itchies all night.

3. Use a fan behind you...not as necessary as the first two, but it really does help.

Question about the shin armor: Is the wedge shape that runs the length of the front a seperate piece that is attached atop the rounded piece? Or is is the armor just "folded" to make the wedge and rounded around the calfs?

I'm now really starting to gear up for my unfinished Jango. I will make my own armor out of sintra, and then make molds for a fiberglass set. But how do you get the shapes right? Well I sized everything from my 12" Jango. I taped some paper over the armor pieces and made a pencil rubbing of the edges. Then I took some pics, enlarged and cleaned them up on Photoshop and printed them out. I was able to get patterns for the chest, collar, shoulder, thigh, shin, and shoe armor but not the knee armor(not enough detail)or cod piece. I think I can use it for the back plate too, I just have to cut a hole in my pattern for the pack attachment. I'll post pics of the armor as I make it, Boba sized for the 6' tall Fett. ;)

i started out by putting velcro all over my boot. even used hot glue to try and keep it there. but trust me you will need the buttons and straps.

I attached the shoe armor with elastic and velcro. I took 2 pieces of elastic and sewed them together at the ends and sewed on velcro at the ends. then ran on strip under the arch of the boot and the other around the back over the heel. If you use black velcro it's not very noticeable.

Sorry to open a new thread for a small question, but the official shoe and leg armor thread seems to be locked.

At the moment I’m working on a Jango’s as well as on my older Boba Fett costume. Primary it wasn’t intentional to start with another costume, but TPP sent me wrong gauntlets for Boba’s. Also I found nice templates in the web to build an inexpensive mandalorian armor and was the best bidder on Ebay for a not so bad looking Rubies Jango Fett helmet.
Well, one of the the items I need now, is a template for the shoe armor. Is someone able to post it here or to send me a PM? Thanks!

Here's mine. Print it out 7" high and 7" wide.
**This is a rough and asymmetrical template - I'm working on overhauling it. **
