Rub n Buff help!

Dunno if I've found a solution here for sealing rub n buff without compromising the finish?.

I was in a local hobby shop, this shop sells everything!,and I saw a product called Treasure Sealer,it states on the back of the bottle it is for sealing gold leaf and leafing products,......now,it also mentions guilt rubbing etc,so I'm wondering if this stuff would do for the rub n buff, considering it says it's for sealing leafing?.

Thought I'd ask on here to see if anyones heard of it before i dip my hand in my pocket and buy it?.

Thanks:eek: .

Hey thanks a bunch dude! I am in the process of redoin' my RnB job on my armor ... perfect time for this video! :jet pack

I used Rub n Buff for all my armor including my gauntlets and even my boots. It's the best stuff. You really, really don't need more than the tube and your bare hand.

Remember two little rules. ONE: A tiny bit goes a very long way. I barely squeeze a dab onto my finger. I made a tiny dab cover a good four square inches on my helmet. I then apply it to the surface and spread it evenly over a fixed area and spread or rub out as thin as I can get it until I can't spread it any more. TWO: Friction! I buff it with any part of my palm. You have to rub or "buff" it hard enough and fast enough to create friction. Don't worry if your skin burns off. It will grow back. Just kidding. But really. Buff it out so that you feel the burn. Literally. It's the friction that makes the wax dry onto the surface. I then worked the next four square inches and simply blended the edges until there were no edges but one solid metal looking helmet. The thinner the layer the better!

You can't really rub or buff it enough, in my opinion. Getting it on your jumpsuit or other parts of your costume is inevitable. You'll also get as much of the stuff on your armor as you will your palm.

To this day people still discuss the demonstration that the great Seeker himself gave at Dragon Con 2 or 3 years ago. That would be great to see a video presentation.

A video about how to you use the rub n buff sounds good.

Can you ask Mirax H to jump in for that video as an actor?;)
Im thinking about that gold girl from Goldfinger:lol:

Hello! Have a look at this thread here.

This is what I managed to achieve with several layers of shaded sliver paint, bronze, tacky paint and rub n buff. All applied in different angles/grains

Works an absolute treat mate. As for fingerprints? Is the paint under it all too thick with you and did you leave enough time for each layer to dry

All this is done with a cloth and water to help thin it and spread it about.
