Rub n Buff?

Howdo?

I'm relatively new to the whole Jango angle to Fettage and have a few questions about rub n buff....

-Is it used with, or instead of, cold cast finishes to armour?
-Do you seal it with regular spray laquer or does it need sealed?
-Do you spray the item black first and then apply the rub n buff to let the undercoat of black shine through as weathering?

Any other hints / tips that could help?

Cheers folks!

First, R&B is applied instead of Cold Cast, but if I'm not wrong for the real costume the used R&B for repairs on the Cold Cast. Second, It doesn't need to be sealed. An third, if I were you I would spray it on regular grey primer so when a scratch is made on the R&B it does not has the contrast Silver-Black.

For tips for application, SEEKER did a video about how to do an armour out of Sintra, R&B it and also weather it (all in one) and it's in Youtube, just do a search for words like "sintra armor" and I think you should find it.

Primer and wetsand the item from 400 to 1000 grit. Then use a tiny amount of rub n buff and spread it around, then buff it with your hand. You need wetsand before the rub n buff so that the armor piece is super baby smooth. For the amount of rub n buff only use a small, small amount. I'm talking tiny, not even enough to clump. Don't seal the rub n buff.

Doing this exactly as he's described, mine came out great. Good luck!

IMO, there is no alternative to RnB except for Cold Cast, which is of course the best. For price, ease of use, and authentic look I've never seen anything get as close to Cold Cast and look like the real suit as RnB. Apparently the real suit even had some RnB on it.

The only thing that concerns me is the fact that it doesnt dry out completely(?) and can rub off onto the other parts of the kit(?) The last thing I want is to open the troop box and find the suit covered in RnB stains.. Is this a risk or am I being paranoid in my uneducated concerns?

I usually take a soft cloth to buff off any excess. Within a week or so it should be fully dry and not rub off anymore. And like Seeker said, if anything does rub off it will be minimal.

Mars Black, Raw Umber and Burnt Amber acrylic paints. You just paint the weathering on by hand and wipe it off with a paper towel or sponge around the edges.

Do Iuse this on the helmet and jetpack?

Looking forward to giving this a go!! cheers for all the help guys!
