I just finished putting rub n buff on my new bucket about 3 days ago. When I touch anything the has rub n buff I still get it on my hands. I have rubbed it with a cloth many times. Any suggestions?

Live with it, and don't touch your helmet on the silver ;) At least that's what I did :) I have the same problem- you will never get it to where you get absolutely nothing to come off, at least I have not found it to be the case. Just be careful when handling it so you don't get it all over.

Mine usually dries after a week or so. Of course, I buff it periodically throughout the week.
Same here, mine is a 100% dry now :D
My helmet actually dried within hours.

How do you keep this stuff from being a mess and trying to keep the dust off of it so it dosn't stick.
Dust must be a pain in the neck to keep off RnB if it is not dry.

Hmmm, I have never had a problem with it. Once you buff it, nothing sticks to it.
So dust comes off it easy and dosn't make a mess when cleaning?Quote:

The reason I ask is I may be getting some Battlestar Galactica Cylon armor and I may use RnB on it and I don't want a big mess.
Theres a whole lot of silver surface there and nothing else to grab on to. :lol

I used a very thin layer of rub n buff, buffed the **** out of it 'til it almost got hot, then I did another coat of the thing and again buffed til it got hot. After that I had no problems with any of it ever rubbing off on me or my clothes... I don't know if you guys are using primer but I'd probably reccomend it. :)

Bare palm works better. I used to use kleenex but it works better with your palm. Honestly, I bet one tube would do it, but I would get 2 just in case. That should be more than enough to do all of that. I can easily do all my armor and my bucket with a tube.
I think the cylon's are chromed electroplated aluminum
They are chrome plated Styrene, but I don't have $1000+ to chrome plate it, hence the RnB.Quote:

I just finished redoing all of my armor with rub and buff. I did excatly what I saw Seeker do at the tutorial with bare palm. Whenever I got any dark spots I rubbed them out with kleenex. After you set it aside for a few minutes, it actually feels cool and smooth like metal. If I rub it hard with my finger, I can get some to rub off but, with normal handling it is completely dry.
Here are some pics. I will weather with black acrylic tomorrow.

Thanks. Actually its probably like an eighth of a tube. I found that the less I used the better it looked.

I got some rub-n-buff to do the top of my rocket because the silver paint just doesnt look right. Anyone know how I can get the bottom part to look right where the paint starts to peal? I heard you cant paint over this stuff
you can paint over it but i wouldnt recommend it, its more of a wax than anything and paint will flake off of it. so id suggest just plain old fasion carefulness :-P
When using the RnB, do you paint the colored ares you want first, then mask the painted sections and then apply the RnB so that it dosn't get on the painted sections?Quote:

I really wish I could see a video of the demonstration.
I personally do my colored areas first then tape and rub-n-buff. You can get it off with soap and water but I usually wind up getting more on the painted areas when trying to clean off what already got on there.
Hmm well I did the rocket/side thrusters and it looks alot better I just wont touch it, its dry because I used very little but the weather paint below didnt stick to well

Hey guys and gals,
I've been doing the Jango costume for a little under
a year now. Was just told about the rub n buff,
so naturally I ran out and got some, applied it to
all the armor, but here's the thing.
I keep noticing that it is rubbing off on my ammo belt,
vest, and various other parts. It seems like I have it buffed
off, but just when I think I can do no more buffing I see
it has come off somewhere else.
Can someone tell me how to prevent this?
Just clean out the parts after every event.

I was afraid you were going to say that.
I know the last step when I painted my armor was to paint a coat of clearcoat spray paint. I'm going to try this.
Most clearcoats dull the rub n buff.
DO NOT CLEARCOAT RUB-N-BUFF!!!
i personally havent had any trouble with mine. do not clear coat it. trust us.

Primer or No Primer? That is the question?
PRIMER! Definately. Hit it with primer, then wetsand it with like 600-800 (I think that's the grit) grit wetsandpaper. Primer it again, then wetsand it again until it's baby-butt smooth(SEEKER's words!). The smoother the primer finish, the better results you will have, in my experience. I RNB-ed my gauntlets and helmet and Fett Girl did the same with her armor and helmet.

I used some silver leaf on my resin gauntlet rocket, it looks awesome. Its so easy to use, and really makes it look like metal.

It's not finished in this photo, I've painted the tip and weathered it a bit more since then.
I cannot seem to find Rub and Buff anywhere. I've checked several Walmarts, Pep Boys, Lowes, and Home Depots. Is there somewhere online I can order it?
Edit: Nevermind, I found another thread with a link for it online.
You won't find it there, you should check some craft/hobby stores like Michael's.
Jo-Anne fabrics also has it I believe.

What section of Jo Anns would I look in for it?
They usually have a section that has gold leafing and silver leafing products. Just ask someone and I am sure they can show you.
