Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
A board member here did a replica Jango boot run which looked exactly like the Pit Crews. They were a fairly big ticket item & there wasn't enough of a demand to justify a second run.
The last pair look pretty good for a stand-in. Once dyed black & with the laces covered with armor, they will be close enough for the average Joe!

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
I knew of a lot of womens shoes that have a VERY similar sole, but some were on sandals and such..but I figured if there was anyway to remove it and attach another shoe to the top.
But I guess the real question is...can...and this is a BIG WHAT IF type...would one be able to either cast or sculpt the sole, and then make rubber copies? Then if we had the boot bottoms, and then being able to attach a shoe atop of that?
-
Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
Maybe it's time another thread was created to see if there is enough intrest to another replica run.
I bet some people need a seond pair by now.
-
Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
Well seeing as how the last run took about a year to complete, I think it is better to source other alternatives. The original maker also was left holding several pairs, tying up his money, so I don't know if he would be too eager to step up again. You never know though.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
If anyone is looking for size 11, contact Reinone. He has a couple of pairs of the awesome repro boots he did last year. These are as good as they get.:thumbup

Where did you come across womens' shoes that look close? I've been looking everywhere for weeks now, even in the boys' sections and have found nothing.
-
Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
they currently have some womens boots on ebay. search under "kenneth cole reaction boots" it should come up with a pair for the ladies. there brown, but, you can always dye them. ;)

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
Prada also makes many shoes that have similar soles...but ya gotta be willing to pay for Prada like prices. Check ebay.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
how is that supposed to help him? :lol you linked him to yet another thread all about discontinued shoes that ends in "check ebay". :lol
That should be a disclaimer for anyone before scrolling through the pages of out of date material around here :lol I know I've been in every nook and cranny of this Jango forum over the last 4 or has it been 5 months? it's been so looong since I've seen daylight...:D all I can see is shades of bluish purple, shades of greyish black, shades of blue, and I catch myself looking at everyones shoe soles! This costume is a mental disease.. :lol

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
hey, got a question i've always wondered....why are 99.9% of these boots discontinued? i see that the Co. probably doesn't know about the demand for these boots, but, you'd think that if they saw all these were going fairly quickly they would bring them back...but, i'm just glad i was able to snag a pair of Reinone's boots....which i'd love to thank him for all the hard work, and effort put into that project....i'd also like to thank my mom and dad......just kidding...:lol :lol

How bout these??http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/2...b7c528l4lg.jpg I know the uppers are all wrong but the soles look pretty close. The uppers can be dyed black and the boot armor covers the rest.
They are called "Nike Air coast Hiker" at the JCPennys site.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
Goldenrod, if it were me buddy, I'd ditch the brown Nikes idea and use a pair of cheap black jungle boots until I could find a shoe with an exact sole. Just my opinion, but I think the low leather upper profile and toe of a basic jungle boot (the kind you can buy at most military surplus stores) would resembles the Jango boot more than any type of shoe. Plus the jungle boot's aggressive and jagged sole somewhat begins to resemble the Jango sole...just my opinion.
I'll look for a pic to post to show what I'm talking about.
The first boot(my 1st choice) could be had at $26, the second at $45, and the other two were about $100.
Hope this helps in your quest, even if it makes you think I've lost my freakin mind and you now know what won't work.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
my only down side with that, is the toe is too round, I know I wore those my whole time in the army, and it tapers in instead of being nice and square, and that sole isnt a standard sole, its an aftermarket sole available on some boots, otherwise you have to get it put on custom. I just don't see that boot being valid either. Trying to find a good base is tough. honestly a good pair of squared toed doc martins isnt a bad way to go. take a rotary tool, with a sanding drum, sand off all the ribs on the sole, then mark out where you want your recesses cut, dremel those in, then paint. thats what I did, and it came out pretty good. I'll post pics later.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
Thanks Cruzer i completely see what you mean.
Abntroop, i also see what you mean.
I was mainly just looking at the sides and shape of sole.
I've been tring to get ahold of Reinone, but i guess hes forgotten to check his pm's lately because of the Holidays.Wish i had his email.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
Cruzer, I think the jungle boots might be my choice until I can find something really accurate... can't really be a barefoot Jango now can I?

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
This is one area that I really lack in my progress. I need to find a good boot.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
After much searching I settled for a pair of Jeep brand boots (the ones with the red dots on the soles).
They were 17.00 bucks with shipping.
After a little creativity and some black dye they will be close enough for me.
Jeep also makes another style that’s inexpensive and also not that bad.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
Ok, I'll ask. Where do you get the Jeep boots? :) A little powertool action to make bigger cuts in the sole and those are good to go.

You guys might want to try to look around as well for it. I would say it should be in the $20-30 price range only. There are zippers running down on both sides and can be hidden by the shoe armor and trousers.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
I purchased the Jeep Boots off of Ebay about 2 months ago.
Recently I found a pair of Kenneth Cole women’s loafers on Ebay They have the correct sole and were size 11 but that converted to a men’s 9 which was perfect. My plan is to remove the soles and cast them up in rubber, then reattach them to boots of my choice so that I will always have the right soles that fit me.

I just bought these boots... do you think they would work if I were to dye the black?
Thanks,

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
bought mine from e-bay they are made by prada and have the same sole as the kenneth cole pit crew boot.
as it happens a pair are on e-bay as i type "PRADA HIKING BOOTS" size 37..might be a bit small...hey they might fit someone on TDH.
but it's alway's worth checking the bay of fleas they pop up now and again.
-
Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
Yeah didn't see those ones... but hey I am no where near a size 37, lol.
The ones I got were the closest towards my size... which they are even a bit big, but I can live with that.
Thanks,
Tony

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
Hello everyone, I am new to TDH but I have been in the 501st for a little over a year and I am going to start researching my next costume. You may have guessed, but I have decided that Jango Fett will be my next costume addition.
I have been reading through the posts here and it seems as though one of the hardest pieces to get for this costume is the boots since Kenneth Cole boots aren't made anymore. Sorry to hear about what happened with Reinone and a lot of you...that sucks!
I wanted to post here cause I found some boots which use the same sole as the Gladstone PT05 boots I saw in another thread. Here they are:
http://www.shoebuy.com/danner-expedi.../148735/344072
Brown, I know but they don't come in black as far as I can tell and I have read here that the color of leather boots can be changed. Also, the Gladstone boots are only available overseas.
I also found others like these:
http://www.shoebuy.com/magnum-stealt.../123669/288260
http://www.danner.com/product/boots/...iform+boots.do
What does everyone think about the Danners? I noticed that the reinone boots had a sole that is really close to the Ken Cole boots. Does anyone know who makes that sole? I know a couple of custom boot manufacturers and might be able to get some replicas made.
-
Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
The expedition GTX soles look similar and look to be stamped with Vibram... if so they should be able to be bought through them I would assume.
-
Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
I did try to contact Vibram and they said that these sole aren't for retail purchase and are only sold in contract. They only have a few select soles for retail purchase under repair soles. The Gladstone PT05 boots also have Vibram stamped in the side but it is black, not yellow. Other than that it is the same sole, a lot easier to get than the PT05, and probably less expensive.

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
I'm curious as to what boots are out as well, I'm still probably a month or two from getting boots, but it already looks like this will be one of the toughest pieces to get so I might as well start looking now

Re: Official Thread - Jango\'s Boots
the same sole on the PT05 boots are available from Danner here in the USA. I believe the leather is brown though and would have to be died black.

I've seen them as low as $140.
