dan
mine is automotive silver with weathering and im happy with how it's come out.
Bear
I think that chrome is good. Since you can never achieve a true chrome look anyway, it will give you a matted metallic look. I personally think that silver paint looks a bit too much like plain gray.
My armor was painted chrome with black acrylic weathering.

Hey!!!!!
Hows everybody doing? My question is in regards to the little
square indents on the underside of the guantlets. From all of
the pics I have collected,It appears that the right guantlet
has 4 squares while the left guantlet only has 3.I don't know
for sure if this is correct,But hell I couldn't think of A better place to find out.If anyone has info on this,I am sure
it would be very helpfull to A lot of people.
You are correct!
Hey all this is my first post of my WIP please let me know what you think It hasnt been weathered yet...be honest
These are pics of my left gauntlet completed before weathering, and before the new momentary buttons...

OK well here is an update to my costume WIP....Dont get too critical of me because there is still much work to be done. The right gaunt still needs the last coat of paint and the switches in the rt side, I have some of the hoses painted, done and attached but not all, and i ran out of HD Velcro so the rt gaunt is clipped shut...jeeze...flightsuit has not been worked on at all, still needs the sleeves done right, needs to be lighted and have the purple tint added. And the obvious I dont have armor yet and I am wearing a DP97 boba on my melon...:-( Now for the pix...! (Desc are below the picture)

Keep in mind that my digital camera is pretty ******...
Well let me know what you think even the bad...thanks
dan
Well, it's a start for pics anyway:
I do have high-res versions as well...links will be up soon.
well the right hand gauntlet seems to be nearly the same as the boba one with different hose connections. The left one is a lot different though,
Also on the left gauntlet there is a red led bezel like the ones used on lightsabers
I was at a store today and flipped through the E2 VD a bit and noticed a pic I haven't seen around here anywhere. It was on the 2nd or 3rd page in the bottom left corner. It was of Jango's right gauntlet and it showed the tubing and how it all came together into one clip and I was wondering if anyone could scan this or something cause I think it would be really helpful to some people. Thanks.
the female side of the clip![]()
Something inside the short sleeve.
I wonder if that connector thing is a found item...
it looks like the package duracell batteries come in, that hang from mounts at walmart, and each hose goes in a slot. cause it has the triangular hole for hangin on it it seems.
I remember in the post from someone (cant remember name) who put the Jango costume together, that the hoses "clicked" in place, so it may just be the end of a clip such as the kind on Anakin's belt, a backpack clip.
It was whojedi who assembled/disassembled the Jango suit at Celebration II. Here is what he said about the gauntlet hose connection:
"...the tubing that come out of the gauntlets connects under the second sleeve with connector pieces. I don't know how to describe them exactly, they look like what are on backpacks or something like that. They just snap together and lock into place."
That's what I thought. Now, how the heck to connect 3 tubes to one of those clips...
Maybe the hoses are glued to one of those clips that are used on luggage. Those seem to be wider and stronger than backpack clips. Isn't that then some how tethered to the Jet Pack?
As much as these guys like to use tape, it looks to me like the half of a clip (the part with the notches that the prong side clips into...ya know what I mean) with the 3 tubes, wires, cables....just taped to it with electrical tape, or a big piece of the heat shrink tubing. Just a guess.
I guess i may be late to this party, but am I correct in thinking that the part of Jangos right gauntlet that holds the hose (one of them anyway) is GRAY and NOT silver? What else is gray? Well since I am trying to find new, more accurate gauntlets (hint hint.. anyone?) I aint gonna bother re-painting it... at least I don't THINK so...
Has anyone found the correct type of hoses for Jango? I've looked around, and nothing looks right. The closest hose I found was @ Home Depot, it was for a grease gun and it was black with the braided threads but it was only 1/4" thick. Any leads out there?
I got my hose from home depot as well in the back it was labled as "fuel hose". This was the closest I found and it works great. Arturo has the same stuff and it looks great. Hope this helps, later.
Andy
Mine is black fuel line bought at an Auto Parts store.
-Austin![]()
How flexible is fuel line vs. the braided PVC that Boba has? I have a hard time trying to bend my arms with the PVC.
I dont think you will have any problems with the fuel line it works great and has a nice flex to it. Hope this helps.
Andy
Sometimes the rocket on Jangos gauntlet all black, sometimes it is silver with black stripes (like Bobas). I assume one is a pre prod and the other isnt? Is this correct? I kinda like the way the all black ones look.
Hi gang, I need to know how I can make the left gaunt stay put. the problem is the flame thrower box is so heavy that when I wear it that it turns it's self downward, I'm always having to turn the thing back up right. Any help would be great. I cant make the thing any tighter with out cutting into my arm to keep it in place. Remeber Im a very large JangoBear.
Bear
Try some velcro on your gloves and on the inside on the gauntlet.
I put cut strips of foam padding in mine. I just slide them in at the top and the bottom after I put the gauntlet on and they seem to stay put. If you gauntlets clam-shell shut, you may want to just glue or velcro these pieces directly to the gauntlet.
is ther a big difference between the two and does anyone have some side by sides?
Thanx,
Mike
Ive put together a quick comparison, you can find it here:
Careful, its 110k...
http://www.amorphousmedia.net/client...ngocompare.jpg
As you can see by the pics, the level of detail is staggeringly diffrent. The Jango armor has alot of detail, wheras the Boba is simplified. Now IANABFE, (I am not a Boba-Fett Expert) but Im pretty sure this is just a product of the casting products of the 70's versus todays technology. The Jango Armor also has diffrences such as extra hoses, and a missing piece near the end of the wrist rocket launcher.
The pics are from Brak's Buddys amazing Online Ref. CD
and assorted celeb. II pics I had on my PC.
I was wondering if anyone has made the gauntlets out of sintra and if you have, was it a major pain in the a$$?
Thanks,
Mike
Well, I've made Boba's gauntlets out of sintra. I had to make my mistakes and figure out how to do it, but they turned out well. At least they are not too small/too large for my body, and they have a good amount of detail.
Lisa, thanks for the reply. What did you use to glue all the "stuff" on to the gauntlet?
Thanks,
Mike
Superglue or 2-part epoxy, mostly. Go to www.azeem2000.com
Well I didn't make Jango gauntlets out of Sintra.. but I made my Boba Fett Gauntlets with Sintra.. you can see what you can do with Sintra at this thread
http://forum.thedentedhelmet.com/vie...c=2148&forum=1
It has some shots of my gauntlets on my fett costume mannequin.. any questions.. let me know
I'm making some Jango gauntlets out of sintra right now... I'll try to post some pics soon... its definately difficult to take 2-D pics and turn them into a 3-D object that you've never made before. THe right one is done, now working on the left one... the rocket thing is my biggest hold-up...anyone got any ideas? BTW, Superglue seems to work better for me than the 2 part epoxy...GL
Well It seems that someone's Tip about using a clutch alignment tool was a great start for the rocket on the left guantlet...There are all different shapes and sizes depending on the vehicle... but all are a bit short or not quite the right shape. SO It must be a tractor clutch alignment tool or something, I'll look into it some more and leave another post. If anyone else has any info, I'd appreciate it. Like, what to use for the pointy thing on the end of the rocket =)
Brett
Can anyone post a list of all of the attachments (i.e. buttons, switches, hose attachments) they used on there gauntlets and where they got them? I'm using tube lighting from Target as the hoses, but I have no idea where to begin with all of this extra stuff. I've decided to go with sintra for the gauntlets. It looks like it's going to be TOUGH to make them, but the molded plastic gauntlets I bought are WEAK and not very detailed. So, I'm going to try my own hand at it.
I used black rubber fuel line from discount auto parts for the hoses. 2 small black "momentary pushbutton switches" from radio shack for the left gauntlet's flame thrower housing. Also a metal encased red led light from radio shack as well.
It's probably not movie accurate, but i'm using
generic male/female copper connectors from The Home Depot.
I have made small cover plates out of sintra that have holes
cut out to just the diameter or the copper connectors to poke
thru. Then I just screw the hose couplings right to that to
hold the hose to the sintra cover plate. You cannot see any
of the copper connector this way and all you see is the steel
coupling screw.
Hope this helps.
Guys, Im curious as to where to get ahold of that blue colored tubing on the gauntlets. Originally, I was going to just buy some sink tubing (the kind that you use for the sprayer) and try to color it. Im sure it's available some where already molded in that color. I saw some bright green colored hose at ace hardware this weekend. Any ideas?
One more thing...While searching for the mysterious "Clutch alignment tool" I wondered, "what kind of cars would be around Leavesden at the time Boba was being designed?" SO I began to look for clutch tools for british and european vehicles. After searching for volvo I found this:
http://www.ipdusa.com/productdetails...categoryID=305
It has 10 "teeth" (though, Im pretty sure the one in the photo has 22) and is made of plastic. (hmm, I realize now that most clutch tools are plastic) Besides, take a look at the length. I think it's pretty **** close, and it's plastic making it lightweight, cut-able, etc. Looks pretty good huh? Perhaps there are some older model clutch tools out there?
Wow, Jango would be proudWhat's the part number or name for those hinges? I haven't been able to find anything close. Are both of those pieces vacuufomred?
It's actually pretty common. Just look for brass continuos hinge. You have to cut it to length though.
How do you cut a hing to length? ^_^;
Kylash use a cutoff wheel on a dremel tool, or you can use a hacksaw. just cut at the last link nearest to the length you need. You can try and remove the center pin to make it easier, that's what I did.
Seeker, what are the parts you used there?
Seeker,
Yeah metal parts- what are the the hose connections as well as the dart. Thanks!
By they way, did you see that little picture of with you with Tam in last months Star Wars Insider? SWEET! I was there and saw ya. Little did I know that months later we would all be on this board together! Gotta love the innernet.
and does anyone have a nice, clear photo of how the left gauntlet hose that is NOT inside the box on the side is connected? is there a sort of tube that is attatched to the side of the gauntlet like in seekers? thanks!
Yeah, there's a tube, I haven't really figured out how I'm gonna do that yet eitherSeeker: The parts you used for the hose connectors and the assembly going acros the bottom to the dart.
yes i see that tube for that second hose- is that the "real" way? what does the other end of the tube (the end that does NOT have the hose attached to it) look like?
I didnt get a good shot of it at the SWCII. Any info would be apreciated!
my guantlet is not accurate to the real thing but here's a picture of one that it is. the parts you could get them here www.mcmaster.com and look for this part number 50915k101 then select catalog page. But they are called compression tube fittings
<image src=http://www.r2ro.com/images/rightg.jpg>
Which size did you use? There are like 8 different ones.
Thanks a lot gwizah fett,
we've been looking for that piece for a while and have been unsuccessful in locating itNice find

Does anyone know what to use to make the flame thrower nozzels?
I would guess that they would be some sort of fuel line tapered connectors
or perhaps some sort of plumbing hardare. Maybe even the end of a butane
torch?
Please help since I'm at a loss here and would like to try and find the parts
to finish my gauntlets maybe even this weekend.
Thanks!![]()
Do you eman the nozzels at the end where the flames come out? These look close:
<img src=http://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/108/gfx/large/50915kp10l.gif>
It's on the page Seeker just pointed out above.
I'm sure this has been covered before somewhere but I'm too lazy to look around for it. I know a few people have had problems finding the right kind of tubing in black color and I'm finally to this point in my suit. For those of you who've got this far or finished, where did you get your tubing, what kind is it, how much, ect.
I bought some fuel line hose off the roll at an auto parts store. I don't remember the price but it wasn't that expensive. Depending on how you attach your hoses to your jumpsuit, you will about 7 1/2 feet. 1 1/2 feet per hose should be adequate.
Hey guys I just wanted to point out that the tubing displayed at celebration II was actually a braided translucent blue tube. I have done a few searches and have not been able to find a manufacturer of colored braided tubing. ANyone had any luck with this?
I used stainless steel braided hose...the kind
used on washing machines...and colored them black using
a permanent magic marker. It looks pretty good,
and they have the couplings already attached that you can
screw onto various brass fittings (which made
attaching to the gauntlets much easier!). I bought
them in the plumbing section of my local home depot.
Not exactly movie accurate...but pretty close.
You could always buy some clear hose and dye it blue (which is probably what LFL did). I had to dye some hose yellow for my Ghostbsuters uniform and all I did was run some brown leather dye through it and washed all the excess out. Worked really well:
You can see the hose on my left leg in that pic. So if they make a dark Blue leather dye, which I'm assuming they do, you might try that meathod out and see how it works.

All you did was run it through once and it stuck to the inside?
I had to run it through several times, but it started to dye the hose almost instantly.Kylash327 wrote:All you did was run it through once and it stuck to the inside?

Just finishing up on my gauntlets and I'm debating on where
to cut them off at...the middle of the upper arm...the shoulder...
or further up and into the jumpsuit body itself???
What is everyone else doing with theirs? I'd appreciate some
advice.
They go in under the outer sleeve of the jumpsuit. I am attaching the ends of the hoses together and they will have a backpack type snap system to attach it to the flightsuit underneath the outer sleeve.
Im having a hard time finding that part. Can someone point me in the right direction and also give me the official name of the part??
Thanks!!
~Bobby
I'm just finishing up my hoses tonight actually and that's the same method I'm doing, the backpack clips. Just using lots of tape and Goop to hold them together.
Where in the heck do you find this thing
Home DePot in the plumbing section. I believe it's called a flare nut.
Okay. I'm ready to start painting my Jango gauntlets. What
is the general consensus as to the best paint/clearcoat combo
to use for them? I have made mine out of sintra/bondo and have primed them with krylon sandable primer. I used Testors
Metalizer (the kind you buff to a nice luster) on the armor and it came out really nice, but have been afraid to clear coat it for fear of dulling it up. The only thing I added over it was R&B (which i'm also afraid to try and clear coat!). Should I use the same method on the gauntlets, or is there some better stuff out there that I can use? I would think I would need to clear coat the gauntlets since they are such a high traffic piece of the costume.
I just took the end of an ink pen, the plastic pointed part and painted it, looks the same to me
This what I just spent the last hour and a half machining, a set of 4 darts and grappling dart!
Arturo, youre gonna cry when you find out what I made these from....of course, you'll probably spot it.
![]()
I believe they are replacement tips for a center punch, somewhat like the ones pictured here http://www.tools-plus.com/gen79p-2.html but the knurl isn't there or it is covered by a small rubber washer? But I thought they were pretty close![]()
Yeah those leather punches look good, Im not sure what to buy now!
Are you talking about the flamethrower tips?? If so they are called "Flared Funnel Nuts". Man that kinda sounds bad don't it
I found them near the plumbing section in Lowes. Took me forever to find them though.
~Bobby
OK, now I've located the flare nuts for the flame thrower.
Now where can I find something for the pointy end of the
rocket thing on the left gauntlet?
Honestly, I went to Home Depot expecting to find the pointy
thing. Oh well, I needed the flare nuts too.
Hello,
I know that this has been covered already.
What is everybody using??
Is it confirmed what hose is used??
Diameter of hose??
Thanks
~Bobby![]()
i used braided steel hoses found in the plumbing section...they screw right into my gauntlets and they are painted gunmetal in color now
dan
'
Same here. Braided steel hose from the plumbing section of Home Depot.
I used permament black magic marker to color mine black...however, it
does tend to rub off a little.
How is everyone attaching them to the jumpsuit?
Actually, I didn't attach mine at all. I duct taped the hoses together at the ends
and tucked them way up into my second sleeve...which I had my girlfriend sew
so that there was a gap in the stitching between the top and middle back of my
shoulder. That way, when I put my arms straight out or rotate them up, the hoses
feed into that gap and into the back of my vest instead of bunching up.
Do we know if Braided steel hose is what was used on the real suit?? From the pics taken at CII it looks different.
~Bobby![]()
I think that I will buy some of the Clear PVC Braided hose and experiment with some black coating of some sorts. I will get back with you all with what I find.
~Bobby![]()
I used blue tube lighting from Target. The hoses looked blue to me in the AOTC Visual Dictionary. Just gut it and it looks pretty good. Granted, I don't have it hooked up yet (I'm saving up for some RA gauntlets), but it looked right to me. Anyone ever think that these aren't really gauntlets? Gauntlets are a type of glove-like armor, covering the hands. These are more like bracers. Anyway, just a thought.
yup, that's what i used. Search the threads for gauntlet hose, there's a big thread somewhere, just look, i dare you![]()
I also used the HD black hoses...
Mike
I used coax cable. I glued two coax connectors into the flame thrower box on the left gauntlet and just screwed the cable into those.
Ashtep
I am using Lowes fuel line. I think that Jangos is the line like on a sink sprayer. Just with black vinyl dye, or Candy apple black.
Hoses look blue to me too. Ive searched *EVERYWHERE* for translucent Dark blue hose. Impossible to find. The closest I came was this
http://www.coastaltool.com/cgi-bin/S...htm?E+coastest
It's nowhere near the right color, so I painted my own sink hose with blue ink. I only did a few inches, using a large Pilot marker, but what I want to do is use some liquid ink poured on the inside. This way, I dont have to worry about it rubbing off.
So what size PVC hose should I use for Jango? 1/8", 1/2",etc. ??
