Just wanted to show you guys some update shots of my Gauntlet work. First and foremost, I think you all know who the artist was who originally created these MASTERPIECES ( i do not use that word often when it comes to props, but the original sculpt and craft of these gauntlets are BREATHTAKING and worthy of such a description) and I received these in the kit vacuformed kit forms. I wanted to put together a tutorial for any other who was to get this kit, that's why I took so many pics...and I will put it together...but I am not finished.
So here are some pics and some comments...these are about 80% done as far as getting it to a point where I am satisfied with the bodies of the gauntlets...without further ado :
Here is a the kit as I received it as a vacuform :
I wanted to sharpen the edges a bit more so I bondo-ed the little nasty up !
Did a little sandy sand off the first coat -
I then threw some primer on there and realized that I lost a lot of the etched detailing.
So I etched in more detailing using the combination of exacto and bondo...I then threw on about three more coats of bondo in selected areas of which is not completely done. For the sake of these pics, I did some drilling and attached certain trademark pieces so you guys could orientate yourself with the gauntlet. AS you can see, this is not completely done (about 80%) and you can even see some places where I marked that still need bondo..but this is where I am at and unfortunately I will not be able to get back to them for two weeks (because I have to fly back to Cali)...so I just wanted to share with you guys in the mean time...
With the rocket gauntlet, i simply wanted to see the effect of sanding down the plastic to a crisp edge. In the end, I was not completely satisfied with using this technique because of the fact that I was actually taking away too much from the body for the sake of edging...most likely I will go back and bondo treat this little guy too :
That's all I got for right now...I hope you guys enjoyed it !
Again, thank you to the artist for not only providing me the
resources, but also trusting me in the end.
