    * Official Show off your completed Jango Helmet Thread!

Alrighty gang, here is the first of many threads to come. Like I said, completed helmets only and just the facts that you want to share. If you have questions for anyone on their helmet, then please pm them privately as well as any comments good or bad. I want only posts with the helmet and the details on them and anything else that is posted will be deleted to keep this thread streamlined Hope y'all like this!

Re: * Official Show off your completed Jango Helmet Thread!

    I'll get this started off.

    Here's the details:
-DP 95 given to me with many cracks but dent alread filled in. Replaced visor with dark green welding visor, aluminum rangefinder stalk from BKBT, repaired all the cracks with goop and bondo, reworked the right ear piece to be as screen accurate as it could be, filed in the bottom of the rangefinder with bondo too to be more accurate and placed 2 non owrking blue led lights as shown in the Jango Display at CII.

-Colors are Krylon Short Cuts Ocean Blue for visor area and stripe around bucket. Rustoleum Royal blue for all other areas. Gray primer used all over before painting but silver areas were sanded super smooth and then rub-n-buff applied.

-Automotive pinstriping used for the black stripes (1/8" I think)

-Weathering done with black mars, burnt umber and raw sienna liquitex acrylics mixed and watered down slightly.

-Interior mods include a hard hat liner and 2 12V CPU fans- on behind visor and one behind keyslots which I covered with window screen. Radio Shack voice amp being used with this.

Small pics but I thought I would throw them in the mix...

All metal (cast from hand-sculpt) - except resin rangefinder. Blue paint - bare aluminum, automotive pinstripe and acrylic weathering

Re: * Official Show off your completed Jango Helmet Thread!

Here are pics of my helmet:

Helmet was originally a DP DLX cast.
Lots of bondo, sanding, & sweat went into
    making this "Jango accurate".
    Dome was rounded
    Back extended
    Earpieces lengthened
    So on & so on..
As for paint, each coat of primer was wet
sanded starting with 600 grit working up to
    1000 grit.
Automotive metallic (aluminum chrome) was applied
using "hard coat" technique. Then waited 1 month
before clear coating (to help prevent graying).
Finish sanding, then buffed to a mirror finish.
Areas on the ear pieces & RF were masked with
liquid frisket to achieve "chipping effect".
Two tone blue scheme was a custom mix.
Weathering was achieved through washes & airbrushing
using black & brown acrylics, then rubbed out.
Aluminum RF stalk provided by BKBT
Visor is tinted acrylic thermoformed to shape
    of the helmet.
    I have sold this helmet!

Am I late for the party?

    - MSH1 fixed a few things. Build up process pics here. http://www.r2ro.com/jango_msh.htm

    - Acetate face shield from www.mcmaster.com. I dont really like the welding face shield. I think its to dark for me. So I went with the Medium green helmet face shield #10335T39.

    - colors cut and paste from Mirax's thread :p
Colors are Krylon Short Cuts Ocean Blue for visor area and stripe around bucket. Rustoleum Royal blue for all other areas. Gray primer used all over before painting but areas were sanded super smooth and then silver rub-n-buff applied.

    - Weathering Mars black, burnt umber and raw sienna acrylics made by liquitex.

    - Pinstripe Automotive pinstriping 1/8" I think.

1 of 2 custom made Fiberglass Jango Helmet, dipped in liquid nickel. Colors are scanned from movie bucket pics and repainted by me. Original owner was Got Maul over a year and a half ago. Metal rangefinder, heavy duty plexi visor and car pinstripes. Interior is lined with my paratrooper helmet shock pads and liner.

Re: * Official Show off your completed Jango Helmet Thread!

Okay, I'm finally done with my helmet. I really wanted to put a servo motor in it, but the two motors I got weren't strong enough to move the aluminum stalk and solid resin rangefinder. I just drilled a hole and bolted the stalk into the helmet.

I also repainted the cheeks to match Jango's. Compare them with my avatar. I suppose for my first helmet, it isn't bad, though I'm never satisfied with my work. Judz Dwedd, I hope I did your helmet justice. All in all I think it's pretty good.

Go to http://www.alpinegarrison.com and click on the "boards" flash link at the top. When the page loads there will be an "Album" link up top with a list of other links. Click on that and you will see my helmet in the costumes and events album. all four sides plus a couple extra body shots. Sorry for the hassle everyone.

edit: Here are the links. You will have to open a new browser first and copy the link to the new browser:

Re: * Official Show off your completed Jango Helmet Thread!

Finished...(for now.. ) JD Jango bucket...

Still need a new T-Visor as the original took a nasty scrape in the shaping process. Will be giving the RF a touch up also but the bulk of it is finished...

The t-visor is only taped in place at the moment...

The RF ear peice needed lowering to get the top pinstripe to run all the way around without a break and the left ear peice has had an extension to make it more accurate.
The RF is fixed as this bucket is for display only.
The Paint's are automotive paints with Rub-and-Buff silverleaf.
Weathered with a mix of acrylic's and used the thinner of the "double" auto pinstripe.
The diamonds are cut out completely and have a silver backing plate inside the bucket.

"Last photos added to show how it looks in darker conditions on display"...

That is one first class paint job. That must have taken a lot of work if it started as a Rubies.

I finished my bucket some time ago but never had a decent camera to take pics. Then I fell by the wayside for a bit. But now I've got the bug again to finish so here's a look at my Helm. Not bad for someone with no costuming or prop building experience. There are a few painting mistakes but overall I'm very pleased. Its what keeps me interested in finishing this costume. Its a JD fiberglass cast that I trimmed and sanded and painted etc... . It was fun!

    How'd I do?

    Nice work everyone,
Jango Uri's 2006 bucket pics were taken quite well. I like the angles. Great RnB work plus well placed weathering.

Here's what I have done... MLC modified Boba bucket but I kept the RF detail as is. I kinda liked the viewer unretracted.

Here's the final pic of my helmet. I took the control chips out of my helmet, and moved the control switches into my gauntlets. so I have just a single 9 pin connector coming out of my helmet, and running down my back into the gauntlets etc.

Rubies helmet, as for the colors the silver is the grey the helmet already comes with just clear coated, krylon ford dark blue, the lighter blue is from the local .99 cent store so the can just said BLUE. weathering was done with tamiya metalic grey and testors flat black..

    Thanks man.

let me see if i could find photos of my mannequin somewhere. it just a hard plastic women figure. i just butchered her up a bit. flatten things out

then i heated her up and twisted her legs here and there.

for the boba torso its a conbination of sintra and a small T-shirt type torso.

so here is my finished helmet. Its a BKBT fiberglass helmet with metal ears and stalk from spideyfett. It has a BKBT resin range finder. It was rub and buffed with silver leaf and weathered with rub and buff pewter, ebony and spanish copper. the blue was painted with rustolium royal blue and krylon short cuts ocean blue.

I plan to add the interal foam molds when they become available and some day try and rig up the motor for the range finder. I also plan to pick up the helmet skirt when that too becomes available. let me know what you guys think...

Donnie, Is that the cold cast one? It looks much better than the one FP sold to me and JangoUri - we both had to RnB both of ours - they were grey, not silver...

It is technically cold cast underneath, but that is Rub N Buff on top. Mine was a "scratch and dent" and had a big crack in the front. But, it matches my FP Cold Cast gauntlets perfectly. When polished, the cold cast surface looks great.

Sure would love some of those. My FP CC helmet is being painted up right now. Hopefully it will be done soon.

So i've heard you say, many times already

It's bit perplexing, as the only castings to date that have had to have R&B, have been scratch and dent versions because of obvious repairs that couldn't be matched any other way. Others that have been sent out, have had raved reviews, besides yours and Uri. I'm really sorry that you are so displeased with your helmet. I tried to assist you openly, as taking care of cold cast object can be pretty subjective (there is much room for making mistakes and ruining the finish on these). But I still see comments like this from you from time to time. If you'd like to discuss it further, PM me will ya? I've never turned my back on a member, and have always taken care of my customers. All you have to do is communicate if you're unhappy. It's only happened 3 times in 6 years, but when it does, it really affects me. Because I care.

Foxbat - Maybe it's time to post those CC gauntlets of yours you just got? Perhaps to illustrate that my cold cast pieces have a little glit to them

Yeah baby and they are FANTASTIC!!! I'm awaiting on a couple of greeblies to finish them off before showing them off...but they are awesome.

Edit: Chris...I can show them off in their current state (I sent you a PM with some photos of how they look right now) or I can wait to get that missile and whipcord bent bar to completely finish the look. What would you prefer?

Well, the bent bar is ready to go. The missile is taking a silicone bath as we speak

But sure, show 'em off bro, I know you've been itching to anyway
