    Jan 16, 2015, 11:58 PM - new jango with questions #1

Hey everyone. I'm starting to work on my jango but have questions. Im sure they are simple but could use another opinion.

    1. Can I use a military flight suit dyed the right color or are coveralls best to use

    2. Any substitute for the bolo cord on the girth belt

    3. Am I seeing this correctly..long sleeves under short sleeves on the flight suit.

    4. Any advice on making armor out of buckets

Well thats all for now. Thanks

    1. Most military flight suits are high polyester content and do not dye well. Cotton fabrics dye the best. Also most military flight suits have a ton of zippers and such that need to be removed. Coveralls are a much more practical choice.

    2. Not a good substitute that looks right. This is one place where going cheap shows big time.

    3. The double sleeve is a longer sleeve inside of a shorter sleeve. This is all one piece. If you buy two sets of coveralls you can cut the sleeves off of one and use them on the other.

    4. I have experimented with buckets on the armor. The plastic is difficult to shape.....mainly because it has already been heated and shaped into a bucket. The better alternative is to use Sintra or other type plastic that is still raw and has never been shaped. It will be more likely to hold the shape you want. Sintra or other PVC is not too expensive.

It sounds as if you are trying to go a budget build. I can always admire a good budget build but there are some things that will cost you as you build this. There are some places to cut corners and there are some places to save up and spend the money. If you build the bolo belt yourself you should be able to pick up the raw materials for about $75 to $100 bucks. That may sound like a good bit but it is well worth it for the way it looks.

    Good Luck.

I'll throw my 2 centavos down just for the heck of it. I can tell you that it is expensive to go accurate. After a time period here, you will be able to post in the cargo hold. You'd be better off looking for some good used armor rather than trying to make the armor. Depending on what you want to see though. I've personally never seen home made armor for Jango that didn't look home made ( although I've seen some Boba builds do great with trash can armor?)

    Thanks for the replies.

I basically have an unlimited amount of buckets at my disposal so I thought I would try. As for the leather I have a source who can get me leather for nothing and so I have started the leather pieces already. I have been watching the cargo hold to see what is available and doesn't seem like anyone is getting rid of there gear any time soon. I would like to make this as inexpensive as possible however if it doesn't look right then I will spend the money

Take your time.....good things come to those who wait. They come up in the cargo hold here and there. Cruzer's thread on making the girth belt is good help. You can get the bolo cord on Amazon for a decent price....measure around your waist and add an inch or two. You'll need 20-22 waist length strands of the bolo, depending on your height. Use that as a guide for how many feet you need to purchase. 7mm thickness works best for accuracy.

I'm looking to start my ammo belt. I have several scraps of leather but kind of looking at approvable textures. The one I like the most is a very corse and you can see the grain of the leather but the two other options get tighter. Any ideas?
