My JF Arena Jet Pack Painted... soliciting feedback.

photo-23-jpgThis is my first attempt at painting something myself. Sometimes I think went to heavy on the weathering, but after a couple of feet it does look cool.

I think the weathering is a bit heavy (and I like heavy weathering). I would take a damp cloth, or abrasive paper towel and rub it down really well. It will tone down the heavy spots. The colors look right. If this is your first attempt then you are doing great, just keep on going.

One thing I noticed in another pic is that the thrusters look long. When I can see the pack with a person I might have some input on that. It is always tough when there is no context to the actual size.

I think I know the pic you are talking about, the thrusters were just"set" in, and not screwed in fully. That might add to the elongation. I think I will tone the weathering down a bit.

photo-25-jpg Okay. I toned down the weathering and like it much better.

Looks good for a first attempt... jetpacks are a hard thing to paint, and with all the masking and everything, it is a daunting task even for people with far more experience.

On that note, it looks good but the lines COULD be a little cleaner especially with regards to the light blue. Would I worry about repainting it right now, no, but for future reference just watch the lines and what tape you use to mask could make a HUGE difference.

    Again, good job dude!

Thanks T-lobe, I painted those lines by hand.

Well, if you did them by hand, that is much more impressive ... I usually tape because carpal tunnel doesn't lend to a steady hand, lol
