    Re: My Jango WIP

Yes the harness was fairly tight to my body at the beginning of the day, but as the day wore on the front slid up. I have a Fettdad harness that I actually sewed to an old vest carrier that I had laying around. I was hoping the extra fabric would help, but it didn't fix it completely. I have a couple of ideas on how to keep it down. One is to use the larger velcro strap (which is about 4 inches across) on top of the front of the vest carrier. That should hold it better. The MOW pack is just a heavy JP too, so it probably always want to self lower.

The worst part is that it will take another troop to see if helps, since I probably won't suit up and wear it around the house for 5 hours. lol

Awesome! I'm curious if you use a helmet skirt? I just got mine the other day from a friend and now I am really warm in mine. I'm going to have to install helmet fans or something...

I don't have a helmet skirt on mine. I wear a balaclava to cover up.

Here in Texas it gets hot, so I have worried about the skirt. I do have helmet fans, and they do help with what little air movement they provide.

Looks awesome! I'm curious, what's your height if you don't mind me asking? I do ask as I am on the shorter side and am starting a Jango myself.

I honestly wouldn't recommend a helmet skirt to wear while trooping. You could get carbon monoxide while trooping. I know they used during filming, but i guess it was to hide the character.

    just my 2 cents.

I use the helmet skirt... and it sucked without fans in my old helmet... my new one is fiberglass so it is thinner and has room for fans, so it feels a whole lot more comfortable

    - so do you have a line hooked up to the tailpipe of a car? ... I think you meant carbon dioxide Seeker, or just a general malaise from lack of oxygen

Yes...CO2 guys. You know, the stuff that if not exhaled thru the process of ventilation will facilitate a decrease in ph, increase in H+ ions which increases LA production (lactic acid)...the LA then binds w/ NAHCO3 (sodium bicarbonate which is a buffer), which then gives off H20 and yes....CO2 SO, in a nutshell...be carefull using a helmet skirt

Yeah that's right. I'm now working on a Mac and they auto spell as you type. So it was a Mac typo.

So if you wear those skirts while trooping, notice how light headed you get, and sometimes and out of breath.

Shouldn't you wear a skirt around your waist? LOL!! J/K....obviously. Yes, in hot climates you most definitely are subjecting yourself to a number of fumes, so BE CAREFUL!

Mulreel - What kind of FANS do you use? Could you post a pick of your fan set-up? Thanks!!

did a little Jango work today. I reinforced my backplate today. I have had to use several different people to help me gear up at the last several troops. And although I greatly appreciate the help, the helpers have damaged my backplate some. I added some fiberglass across the back and reinforced the area where the JP hooks go through.

And I see that I still owe this thread some pics of my helmet fans, so I will see if I can do that in the near future.

    Re: My Jango WIP.....NOW FINISHED

I have a Cruzer CC fiberglass backplate. I sanded the inside with 60 grit to rough it up just a bit.....not much sanding though. Then I added a layer of fiberglass across the back just below the JP hook holes. The strip was about 6 inches tall and all the way across the back. On the each outer edge I doubled up the fiber glass.

There were two stress points on each side of the back where my handlers had pulled up and stressed it. There was no cracks in the CC but there were some spiderweb points in the gelcoat. I would show a pic, but I didn't take any before, and you can't tell anything much from the after, except that my fiberglass is not as smooth and artistic as Cruzer.

I received a BFUK classic jetpack in the mail today.........a BFUK CC arena pack should be here any day now. Time to paint and upgrade. I will probably start a new thread for the work on both of these packs.

I will be doing the Arena pack first. One because I have done that one before and two.......I would love for you to have a pack headed your way...lol

I think if I can get a day in the shop I can get it done rather quickly. As soon as the new one is troopable, you will have a PM.

Mullreel, amazing job! Does LSFU have a website? I'm actually making my own flightsuit.. I'm going more of the postal blue off of one of the reference photos. I hope I don't take too much flack for it. I still need a vest, don't want to sew that one.. I was thinking Bobamaker, but if LSFU is less expensive, I'll use her. (Especially now that Bobamaker is injured)

NM, Siri just found her website for me. If you get a chance, check out my thread and tell me what you think of the jumpsuit so far. The photo doesn't do the color that much justice. I might take one while wearing it.

the suit is amazing by the way. very jealous.

could i ask what the LFSU Vest and Flight suit set you back?

Just got a new tote for Jango. I think it will probably greatly affect which JP I troop with the most. The arena pack will fit in it, the Kamino pack won't. That will mean I will have to carry it, and that gets old.

    Here is the new carrier......

It is nice to have everything fit, including the helmet and jet pack.

I don't see what state you are in but if you have Hobby Lobby near you, you can usually find the Krylon Shortcuts Ocean Blue. It is in a can about half the size of a normal spraypaint can. This is usually the harder of the two to find.

The Rustoleum Royal Blue I have always been able to find at Walmart.

I have never had any luck finding the colors at Lowes or Home Depot. And sometimes at Hobby Lobby you have to dig a little through the locked paint cabinet to find the Ocean Blue. There is also a Sail blue that is close, but I would try for the Ocean blue first.

Okay, now I have to ask: how do you keep your boot armor down? I have snaps on mine (like Seeker). But I've noticed after walking around a Con or whatever, they often snap apart. I'm thinking about CA-gluing 2/3 snaps on my boots to keep them down. Curious if anyone else has a problem keeping their boot armor attached to their boots when trooping?

I almost fell down those stairs to the left in the first picture. It was a VERY close call, I barely caught myself or I would have probably destroyed most of this kit. Instead the only damage was to one gaunt and it was an easy fix with no actual damage to the cast.

oh trust me I was in a panic.........I walked into one of the back access halls and did a quick inventory. I was very pleased that all I did was break the hinge loose on my left gauntlet. I think it hit the stair rail when I grabbed it. I have already fixed that up good as new though.......ready for the next troop.

Ahh, so that's what Carrie Fisher meant when talking about the slave Leia costume and said "if you stood behind me you could see straight to Florida. You'll have to ask Boba Fett about that," lol.

Costume is looking great, nice to see it in use - thanks for sharing the good photos. Glad that you saved yourself from taking the fall.

I may have just scored some Kenneth Cole Reactions with the correct sole............can't wait to get them in the mail and check them out.

This is the last part of my kit that I am unhappy with. I will post pics when they arrive.

Found a video of me and my 501st squad trooping the Dallas Stars game. It was a blast.

Yes the kids big and small enjoyed having us there. It was nice to bring some extra fun to the crowd. I think we had about 25+ costumed troopers plus about 10 handlers.

    Re: My Jango WIP.....NOW FINISHED

I have looked for these things for over 2 years now and suddenly I see a pair pop up on ebay. I will post pics when they come in.

I am stoked and frankly can hardly wait for these things to come in. I did not think I would ever have a chance at some real Kenneth Coles.
