My BKBT Jango FEtt Bucket! (Pic Heavy!)

    Hey,hey TDHrs!
I thought I'd post some pics for you all to show off my Newest Jango upgrade ! Thanks to BKBT for the First pull#1, Seeker and Mirax H (for the influence!),and whomever made us all the Jango Fett Referance CD! What a project!

As noted in BKBT's post "helmet build up" this bucket has been painstakingly detailed and I had to go "Seeker-ised" with all the little things to make it as accurate as possible! LMK whatcha think! I'm in stage 1 weathering now with the scotchbrite pad and sandpaper scuffs! I'll be doing stage 2 tomarrow with the acrylics and water marks!
Got a pic or two of the BKBT compared to my MSH2 ROTJ and more different angels! Anyone need to see anything specific LMK!
    More pics coming!
    thanks for lookin'!

Wow, that looks just amazing! I have no experience with the Alcad paint but I've heard it's quite soft? Did you wait untill last to paint the chrome to avoid tape marks from masking?

    Anyways Super Job!

    Thanks Guys!

BKBT, you started all this man!LOL
M_S, I painted the Alclad very last and posted a quick how to in BKBT " Helmet Build up" post! Un fortunately anything that works that well and looks that good has its limitations!, however its resiliance pays off as it is somewhat degenerative! The more you touch it the more worn it looks...unless you topcoat after chromeing that is! Perfect for a Jango bucket!
    thanks much ,shunned/BH-8899

Re: My BKBT Jango FEtt Bucket! (Pic Heavy!)

Thanks much guys, I meant to update this thread with some more info this weekend ,but got busy working on my ROTJ Vader. I'll drop some pics on here today of the finished weathering!
I was not a big fan of the rub'nbuff so I used this Alclad paint!
Also the Blues are not of the "American Classics" variety, but hand mixed and matched to a ref. photo I have. I left a formula for the color in BKBT's "helmet build up" post!
For the Alclad II info go to www.alclad2.com or should be available at your local hobby store where RC cars/planes can be had! It is expensive for what you get ,but comes in a variety of "metal" finishes and is also available by bottle ( for airbrush) or spray Can (for those without airbrushes!).
You Can Clear Coat it ,however this does Dull it down some!
I'll have more info for you guys here later this afternoon! thanks much for the comps.
    sincerely, shunned/BH-8899

    Mirax H,
Depends on what you mean by scratch!
For weathering: it works ouyt pretty good as I took a Scotchbrite pad to put in the "brushed" alluminum look and depending on how heavy you want to weather, the harder you should scrub.
If you mean resiliance: It is a thin paint! By nature it is of an almost water/thinner consistancy, however applied in several coats on top of a GOOD High Gloss Black Base it handles very well! I would'nt toss it across the stones or nothing like that of course unless you intended to Top coat it first! Then again would we do that anyway?LOL
    Hope this answers you question!?LMK

Yup, sure does. What about water- does it ruin it at all like if it got water drops on it or something like that? It really looks beautiful. Wondering if this would be do-able for armor- I love how it has the brushed aluminum look with the scotchbrite. Awesome work.

Water is not a problem Mirax-H. I've got caught in the rain before for very brief periods of time and have not had any problems! All my armor is painted with this same paint! More Pics coming as soon as I can grab some!

I would be glad if mine will turn out as half as good as yours.

I'm not sure if you mentioned it, but is it alcad chrome or (polished) alluminum?

Re: My BKBT Jango FEtt Bucket! (Pic Heavy!)

It's actually fiberglass painted with an automotive product called Mirrachrome from Alsa Corp. The paint is a little on the expensive side. I was thinking about painting my car with it and decided to test it on something smaller to make sure that it actually looks like real chrome. So far I think it does the trick.

The helmet I may end up putting on Ebay when I've finished it. That's where I got it from and the paint job it came with left something to desire. Also, it looks like whoever did the recast had a poorly made mother mold since the back of the helmet is a little on the misshapen side.

The other trick is before it can be sprayed with Mirrachrome, the helmet needs a flawless, glass-like black finish. This stuff shows every single mistake you make in fairing, priming, or painting. It's a little more noticeable in this photo from behind where I didn't quite buff the bottom edge to a perfect gloss before the chrome paint.

    Just to clarify,

The last few pics are NOT one of my Jango helmets. It looks to be one of JD's if I'm not mistaken. Just want to give credit where credit is due.
