My 20 lb. back armor!

Well, by tonight I should have the 4th coat of silicone poured on the backplate. Then I'll butter it up with a nice thick coat of silicone and give it a FG jacket. If everything continues to go smoothly, I hope to make the first pull on Sunday.

I'll post a few progress pics tonight.(y)

Thanks guys

I decided to make all of the backplates hot pink!:)
I'll have the first pull done by tomorrow. I only wish I had my Lonestar vest to fit it to.

Laid the permanent FG jacket this morning. Then took the family to the local Iris Festival...in 100 degree weather:facepalm. Came back a few hours later and viola!(y)

I figured there might be a few people out there interested in seeing how the mold came out...so just sharing. It came out solid and very good so it should last for quite a while.

Uri, yep.

Now I just need someone with a Jango vest to come and test-fit the first pull....oh, Jango_Newbie...got plans tomorrow?

Edit: I just realized I've been working on this thing for exactly 1 month now...and stopped counting how many hours I've put into this thing a long time ago.:wacko :wacko

nice job ! Hey, just a question on your mold, did you key your fiberglass jacket to your silicone or is it permanantly bound ?

Sorry, I've got to check car seat installations at the mall from 0830 to 1300. I should be available the following Sunday. It would be 5pm before I got there, if I tried to squeeze it in. Are we still friends? Save me one of these exclusive pieces though. (fan flames, fan flames)

GotMaul, no keys, it's a permanent fg jacket. Every single area tapers so I prefered to make it that way. Plus, when I make a pull, I'll only resin and fg the actual areas of the backplate which should make it fairly easy to remove it.

Jango_Newbie, don't worry about it. Making sure the kidos are safe will always be more important than this stuff. I just couldn't remember if it was today or tomorrow. We'll still get you hooked up. Actually this may work better cuz when you come down, I can have you help me fit my upper body armor.:)

man that's one nice thing about working with solid objects as opposed to making masks, with masks when you make a mold it ruins the sculpt. But with what you did you can make multiple molds with that one buck and have more than one going at a time. it just doesn't seem fair.... awesome work
