My 1st Jango Helmet

Finally had some time to start on my BKBT Jango. Added another layer of Fiberglass, like my helmets super solid. And used R&b which was pretty cool for the first time. Must say its been fun and fairly easy, due to BK's execellent craftsmanship. Well what do you guys think so far? Where do you get those earth magnets?

you can get the earth magnets off ebay "rare earth magnets"...higher the number, stronger they are.

Thanks, I'll check out the Bay. Would craft or hobby shops carry these? Dont really want to wait around for shipping.:p

As for the Dented version- "GCNgamer128", I'm guessing BK will do it if he has the time. Thats what he did for me, now thats a nice guy!!(y)

Michael's (if you have those) has them in the Jewlery section.

Edit - Sorry, I am talking about where to get earth magnets! ;)

wow on the r&b...whats your method? that came out fantastic

First time using it and Kinda used Darth Fetty as a guide line, thanks man. Basically after playing around with it I figured my technique is to cover a whole section with rnb. Once coated, rub N buff the hell out of that section until your finger joints feel like you have a bad case of arthritis and a good burning sensation on the shoulder and finger tips. Overall it was fun to see the results.

so you buffed it out with you fingers? did you put on just a skim coat...enough to barely cover it? and did you do the whole dome at one time or just a section of the dome at a time...the reason i ask is ive had some trouble getting that type of shine from the r&b and ive used it a lot...it seemed the bigger the area the tougher the project so ive been nervous about doing my bkbt bucket when it gets here

I would say the bucket has 5 sections to RnB. 2 cheeks, Dome, and 2 back sections plus the keyholes. I polished the 2 backs first one at a time. I would dab some RnB on one panel then lightly coat the area using a rag, it should look all silvery hazey. Then I put the muslce into it, Buff the poop out of it until it becomes shiney and move on to finish the section. And so on with the other back panel and Keyholes. Then dido to the cheeks. On to the dome, I basically covered half the dome and polished. You might want to do it in quarter sections since you dont want the Rnb to harden if your not fast enough. One thing I found out, if the area you buffed up didnt look the greatest I just added another layer on top and did the same thing and results looked good. ( Friction is the Key, the shinnier you want it the more friction you should apply. You'll feel the burn on the tips of the fingers then you know your doing it right.)

Ohh!! Forgot I dont know if this actually worked but I thought it sped up the process. I used a hair dryer to heat the area up as I buffed like a mad man. And it seemed to work. Hope this helps!

Great work! Very nice finish!

The rare earth magnets are also available at Joann fabrics, perfect size for hold the ear plate on. Most likely any good craft store should have them as well.

Keep up the great work.

Alan

sorry to keep prying for techniques..lol..but are you saying you used a cloth for the buffing action between you fingers and the helmet...or was it skin on?

:angry J/K LOL... no worries happy to help, because if it werent for the good souls here I would be completely lost.

I used the cloth for spreading the rnb around the surface and sometimes used it to buff when my skin was raw. But finished it with my bare naked fingers. The fingers give a better finish result.

that rnb is rediculously shiney... very nice. but i wonder, once you apply the rnb, could you use a jewelery polishing cloth to get it to shine like that without abusing your fingers?
